Research and Recover

Veronica POV                I entered the room around 11:00 AM. Our schedules were off due to the travel. Nikola came out of the bathroom wearing only a pair of basketball shorts. I smiled at the sight before running over, jumping into his arms.                “Did you find all the answers and you are ready to go home?” He asked wrapping my legs around his waist.                “I wish. We have a good start. I don’t want to think about that right now. I miss us.” I said as I nuzzled my head into his neck.                “How about we go for that run now? It will help us sleep better.” He asked as he nuzzled me back.

Rose

Theo POV                Two weeks had gone by while we stayed under the protection of the vampire king. I was shocked to see the changes occurring before my eyes. Roni’s presence had brought life back into the castle. My father was still dark and brooding, with a new passion for sarcasm.                Nikola seemed to grow more comfortable after his altercation with one of the guards. It was a younger vampire, only about 150 years old. He had been convicted of his crimes 30 years ago serving in the guard since. To be honest, it was an oversight my father and I were both guilty of.                Luckily, I was following at a distance when the altercation began. I was impressed with Niko’s ability to remain calm when the vampire was cle

Cyra

Veronica POV                Niko and I ran through the woods chasing a few bunnies along the way. After about 45 minutes we reached a small creek. I pranced over to take a drink, wagging my tail towards Niko playfully. The way the moon danced on the dark water was mesmerizing. He pounced towards me knocking me down into the creek, covering my fur with water.                I bounced back up growling slightly at him before pouncing in his direction. He dodged my fetal attempt; his fur shifting as he chuckled. I shook my coat before I laid my head down on my paws. I didn’t want to admit it, but it was strange being in wolf form again. It was as if I forgot was it was like and just became human, or whatever I am.                Niko

Heartbeat

Veronica POV                “Are you and the king planning something? You two seem to be in sync lately.” Niko joked cuddling close to me in the bed.                “Did you tell them?” I asked as my eyes fell towards my stomach.                “No, they may know, vampire hearing is just as good as wolves. I only told them you passed out.” His eyes told me he wanted an explanation.                “I think that is what happened. I really didn’t get much except for his name, my ‘true name’ he called it, and a warning to be careful of the vampires. Oh, and the badass angels are going to leave us alone for now.” I summarized everything I could. &nbs

Secret

Veronica POV                Nikola took me back to our room. The brief interaction we had with Theo proved that keeping this baby a secret with many vampires around would be near impossible. I paced back and forth in the room while we waited for Theo to return.                “Angel, please come sit.” Niko said gently from the couch.                “It’s passed now. We should just go find him. What could be taking so long?” I questioned impatient.                “Wow, if the hormones are this bad already… I can’t wait for the next few months.” Niko said laughing.

Hope

Theo POV My head was spinning. My father had once again done the unthinkable. He was going to figure out a way to have Roni stay here. My hopes and dreams were once again ignited that I would at least have a place in her life for a small time. I kept my pace steady as I searched for Rose. I had no plans to tell her of Roni’s pregnancy, but I did need to let her know of our trip. Part of me knows she is going to expect me to invite her, maybe I should, Roni seems to like her. Rose can’t tolerate sunlight like I can, it would cause serious delays and issues if we were caught in the wrong situation. I am not willing to compromise Roni’s safety for anyone. I found Rose standing in the corner by the bookshelf in the library on her phone. She clicked it off as she heard me approach. “Rose, I was looking for you.” I said confused at her actions. “You did a good job, you found me.” She joked skipping past me. “Turns out

Cael

Nikola POV                “Are you ready for dinner angel?” I asked stepping into our room.                “Almost, I just need to pack my computer up.” Cyra answered shuffling around the room.                My head was still spinning from the conversation I just had with King James. Him suggesting that I allow Cyra the opportunity to choose if she would like to have a separate relationship with Theo. My wolf was not pleased with the suggestion, and neither was I.                “Can I ask you something before we go?” I tried to keep my tone casual.                “Anything!”

Plans

Nikola POV                As we flew over the ocean Cyra stirred slightly in the seat next to me. I kept my eyes on her, truly amazed that such a strong woman came from such a crap hand of life. She was almost set up for failure at every major turn in life, yet she managed to get past it. I was relieved she finally had some answers.                The story of Cael and Helga kept playing over in my head. Theo is no angel, but in a way, I could understand the similarities. Maybe Cael was wrong. He told Cyra she needed to be prepared for loss. After my conversation with the king, I know I have a way to stop that.                “Theo, you awake?” I said low not to wake Cyra.         &

Decisions

Cyra POV                As we pulled into the driveway of our house in the woods, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. It was dark outside, most people probably gathered at the pack house or in for the night. The temperature had dropped drastically, and the air was damp.                “Welcome home my love.” Nikola whispered before kissing my mark.                “It’s good to be home.” I said with a sigh.                “I’m glad to be back too.” Torvi said rubbing her eyes in the third row of the Tahoe.                “I will be glad to formally meet the rest of the family.” Finn

Two

Nikola POV                As soon as the pack doctor left, I headed over to Peter’s. I knew this would be a hard conversation to have. Peter had been like a second father to me. More so after my own father had died. I wanted him to understand I was doing what is best for my mate and my family. It was not meant to hurt him at all.                Cyra had insisted on joining me. I was glad when the pack doctor advised her to remain in bed for the better part of the next few days. Peter was likely to stop by the house and check in on her. He was a thoughtful Alpha who truly cared about each wolf in his pack. Even wolves in other packs reaching out for help.                Finn was almost as adamant as Cyra. He argued that
