Chapter 11

NELDRISDYD : It was time to return to the banquet and meet the people I was supposed to; we were in the carriage. Furthermore, I had to care for my new interesting acquired slave I didn’t intend to buy. I was in awe of her survival; I shot the arrow to release her from her suffering. My eyes witnessed a real wonder: the act of a sacrifice. Did she know my poison slipped faster to the heart once the blood ran faster in the veins? The most important matter now was Erasmus words; she was unruly, untamed, defiance ran inside her veins. She was someone who didn’t care about rules and threw her life everywhere. The kind of person I wanted. Erasmus insisted she was human and my slave contract on her chest worked perfectly. Weren’t humans supposed to be less hurt by any tentative made by other races in Dotoria? It was already so suspicious. “Tell me. Aren’t you a human?” Her shoulder was leaning against the door her gaze lost in the thick canvas

Chapter 12

DAHLIA : “I shall wait for you… After you take a bath getting rid of all that oil on your body and make yourself presentable, I will take you where the master would want you. You don’t have to put in your head any high position. You are a slave and shall stay so until your last breath. Even if you had children, Don’t think they would gain title or position. They would stay bastards and that… If you managed to stay alive more than a month.” I nodded as a sign I understood perfectly her words. The woman who led me through dark corridors to the servant’s quarters was an adult in her fifties. She had brown hair with hints of white and pale blue eyes that couldn’t attract even the smallest attention. Everything was all tidy and intact, even the small bathroom I was pushed into wasn’t that bad. A small bathtub in the corner with cold water and a mirror, which wasn’t even big. My toe touched the water and it was cold, I shivered but still jumpe

Chapter 13

NELDRISDYD : As I expected, it was a lie. And that lie almost cost her life. I was eager to kill her, now she was mine. Nonetheless, she was the exact copy of Veronica but she wasn’t her. Because if Veronica was here, she would have already used her hands to seduce me, like she always did. Except for her different eyes, she had a bigger chest. Soft. Plump. My hands enjoyed massaging them and they couldn’t even hold all of her flesh in palms. In the end, I retracted my hands since she slept quickly. Was I this relaxing? I intended to ask more questions. I waved my hand and a shadow guard appeared behind me. “Quickly look for information about my slave. More importantly, Dig the royal family history and look for a missing twin child.” “Yes, my Lord.” She jumped when I moved to let her sleep comfortably; she was beautiful as a wild rose with a lot of thorns. I found a gold mine; she could be the future Veronica and mi

Chapter 14

DAHLIA : “Mimi! Mimi! Look she is awake!” “You’re right! Can you see us? Please, tell us, you see us.” Two voices rushed to my ears the moment I woke up, exhausted. It has been days or two weeks maybe three since I lost my virginity and we have been doing it everyday, several times. He had great stamina. The Duke didn’t joke about his energy and the servant who warned me didn’t joke either. He did sex with his slaves until they couldn’t open their eyes. I had two spectres over my head but my experience with the Lingering still present made me immune to fear over ghosts. One was cold and mysterious with dull eyes. The other one was bright and energetic. However, the voices unmistakably belonged to teen girls. Were they dead? My senses gradually returned to me as my body fought against numbness. The best course of actions was to sleep again until the ghosts went away; I didn’t want to be stuck with another weirdo, the Duke was enou

Chapter 15

DAHLIA : I swallowed watching the Duke turning into a monstrous being growing in strength. What happened? What did I do? I was just protecting myself. Should I escape? They would probably think I tried to murder the Duke and kill me. I didn’t want to die. Oh! Please God! I didn’t want to waste my life on something trivial. But what happened to him? My body froze in its place and my eyes watched the Duke letting his sword fall to the ground and clasping his head between his arm twisting and screaming. It was as if he was trying to control something in him. My legs trembled under me as I tried to flee. I wanted to get out of here. I didn’t know what happened but I wasn’t ready to give up my life. “What are you doing?” Mimi asked. “My sister is suffering there. Grab her first then let’s flee away together.” “But she… She… She is next to him. I-I-I can’t get close. I don’t want to die. I struggled hard to stay alive. You were the one who tol

Chapter 16

NELDRISDYD : She didn’t wake up. It has been six days and I was shocked by what I heard; the two swords that I thought rusty were powerful. The knights told me what truly happened. The rusty sword I used didn’t break and the one she used didn’t even injure me. When fighting, it was as if two opposite elements clashed creating a beautiful scenery. I didn’t even visit her since I choked her to unconsciousness. I raised my head watching a mad Lady Markbill pushing the door open and barging into my office angrily. She threw her cane on the desk taking all my attention and stood up perfectly normal, not like a Lady who complained from backache and weak legs. “I thought you were better than him but each day passes you prove the opposite,” I could see the tightness around her mouth and the barely suppressed anger in her eyes under her thick cloak. “You wound my pride, Lady Markbill. I wish to know what made you this angry at me,

Chapter 17

DAHLIA : Before my senses came back to me, all traces left by the battle were wiped clean. The training ground I stared at from the window was the same as when we started fighting. It was then I began to realize the Duke didn’t want anyone to know about his curse, he put so much effort into hiding it and the sword I used to slay him let it go loose. I bet he would never forgive me; everyone said he was a dark Duke, full of cruelty and mercilessness. As cold sweat washed over my back, I could still hear the scream he made when the curse got a hold of him. I tried to ask the swords what happened later and I was met with inconvenience; Mimi and Momo didn’t want to share a word with me. I was confident he would rob my life than it already was if I talked about what happened; I should act as nothing happened. Nonetheless, I felt different since then. The fear of death was still present in me but I earned another thing: I wanted to help others if I co

Chapter 18

DAHLIA : As I listened to the stranger’s stories one after one, I examined the torch. The fire would continue burning until the reserve of magic ran out. I didn’t have to worry about it running out and leaving me in the dark. I picked some juicy worms and put them next to me searching for a stick. I eyed a small bone I wished it belonged to an animal then prayed for the owner’s salvation. “And like that, Dotoria was born; a land for humans to rule, cursing other races within its borders into madness and cruelty, condemning them to relinquish all emotions and deny their selves. What are you doing? I smell something burning.” I jumped from my place retrieving the stick of worms. “Just some worms over the fire, I feel like my body didn’t taste food for a week.” “Oh yeah! They must be delicious! Check out the bugs too, they have such crunchy legs,” he joked but I was serious. “Oh! I didn’t think of that. Lemme put some over t

Chapter 19

DAHLIA : Fredden left me as fast as he came. I stared at his back, disappearing behind the crowd and the Duke’s face with a mask appearing after him. He sat down pushing a satchel he brought with him. I realized our meals were late and no eyes followed him. “Go and wear this! It might be the first and last present you might get from me. After that, we are strangers in disguise. You will be on your own,” he said. How was I supposed to wear black like a widow? I shouldn’t be choosy. I looked around searching for a place to change my clothes. Guessing my question, he walked away and I followed him. His hand found mine in the midst of all the noise and people moving in all direction. My cheeks felt hot and my eyes lowered to watch our hands intertwined together. Strangely, I didn’t hate his contact or touch. I found myself aware of all his movements, my eyes following him everywhere. He was weird but his back was so wide. We walked through a

Chapter 20

NELDRISDYD : I set her free because of Lady Markbill’s request. It wasn’t because I liked it. I didn’t want to ruin my relationship with her; Lady Markbill could be scary when she wanted. I saw how she previously beat a high ranked criminal, which had a bounty of gold coins. And I wouldn’t risk it. To what extend could we fix broken things? Sometimes, it was better to give up on them and move on. I allowed her to go because she wasn’t part of the world I invaded of my own free will. She was like a lamb in the middle of a horde of wolves. I didn’t why we used wolves as description for villains; I did it unconsciously. Wolves were the noblest animals with furs; they knew the meaning of family and tribe. You would never find a wolf outside of its group. They did everything together. The world I belonged in had unique villains that made their goals reason with the truth, they had all reasons you could agree with them if you didn’t know better.
