Chapter Eleven

I didn't want to go to work today. I wasn't sure for which reason though. Was I afraid of finding the second wolf in with Alastor? Was it because I was so exhausted from the nightmares that played with me last night like a rag doll? Or was it because a part of me was terrified about what Frank had said? What would I do if I went in and found a man sitting in Alastor's place? But as we finished up the morning chores and I ate through breakfast, chatting nonchalantly, the time still came for me to leave. I hugged everyone goodbye-even the dogs- as I tried to procrastinate. But I was eventually behind the wheel, driving down the long road. Something caught my eye and I found myself pulling over. The sun was barely rising, it kissed the top of trees and gave everything a light glow. If the sun wasn't up, I doubt I would have seen the tire tracks that scarred the pavement and went off into the ditch. I followed the black lines into the grass,

Chapter Twelve

The following days passed without problem. I was getting used to my surroundings and didn't have to think much about what or where I was going. The news had finally left me alone, but people who recognized me from the channel would always ask me how I was. Kari and Carter had gone on a separate date of their own and from further investigation, I found out that they were clicking significantly. Gedeon and Alastor had changed in the past days as well. They were eating more and would rest more hours than normal. They would sit in the middle of the enclosure and stare at one another as if having a secret conversation. Their personalities became more closed off, but Alastor never stopped the unhidden concern for me and Gedeon didn't stop his odd stretching. I should tell the vet about that next time I bumped into him. On my way to town going down the same road as every other day, something felt off. I wasn't going to work, today was my day off

The zoo didn't reopen for a whole week. Even then the buzz had not calmed down and the news channels were going haywire. With work out for that week, I had nothing to do. I rode Badger a lot more than I thought I would have. Believe it or not, I was starting to get the hang of things and I could now ride him as he galloped. But when I went back to work, it felt lonely. Not having Alastor or Gedeon to pay most of my attention to, I found myself bored and without things to do. I would bother other staff members, attempting to aid them in anything they did. Kari had put me on intense tour guide duty and even had me start feeding the tigers on a normal basis. Don't get me wrong, Teddy and Cuddles were amazing tigers. The large cats would play around with each other and it was entertaining to watch. But I still felt like I had nothing to do. I was the wolf girl after all, but what was I when there were no wolves?

Chapter Fourteen

The sun was coming through the window at such an odd angle. Like it was the afternoon. The sun shouldn't be up at all right now, why hadn't Eliza woken me up for the morning farm chores? Had her alarm not gone off as well? I relished in that for a moment, allowing myself to revel in the extra hours of sleep I had gotten. But I still felt as if I had gotten up at four and worked my ass off and before that, I had gotten horrible sleep. My body felt weak and fatigued. When the sun pissed me off enough, I opened my eyes with a sigh of defeat. I sat up quickly in surprise. The room was huge. White marble flooring, dark wood walls, and floor to ceiling windows that overlooked a forest. I was laying in a large bed with thick white covers. There was a door that was cracked open, I could see the crystal marble sink of a bathroom. There were two other doors, I hoped one of them was an exit. There

Chapter Fifteen

"So let me get this straight- he lives in the middle of nowhere, has a huge house, and a staff?" Eliza asked again, still surprised by all the details I had given her. I nodded and she gushed. Frank hadn't spoken to me again this morning, he seemed to preoccupied, reading the newspaper like the font was too small. I didn't bother. There were other questions I wanted answers too. Like how Diesel knew about the wolves. Eliza went on with the questions. She growled when I told her about Jamie and Alma's bets. She laughed when I told her about Dakari. She seemed to like Diesel, she was grateful to him. Knowing that he saved me from a "bear attack." If only she knew what actually happened. As if he knew I was talking about him, my phone ringed with his number."Hello?" I whispered when I got far enough from Eliza."Hey there," he breathed ba

The muzzle of Lucas' gun pressed into my temple. His arm wrapped around my throat, hoisting my off the dirt. My feet flailed aimlessly and my hands clawed at his arm. He hissed lowly at me. Alastor's body was locked into place, his eyes wide with fear."I'll shoot her." Lucas seethed. Alastor growled at him, his ears pressed against his skull. Slowly he sat back down. Lucas laughed loudly before planting a kiss to my cheek."Thanks love!" I winced away from him. He lifted me higher off the ground, I choked lightly. His hold tightened, my prying fingers did no good."Show her." Alastor's eyes were full of a new fear. His ears straightened and he let out a whimper with a small shake of his head. Lucas pushed the gun into my head harder. I sucked on my teeth in pain. Alastor jumped a litt

Diesel was there when I woke up. His hand still wrapped around mine, his sleeping face next to my pillow, his body crouched beside the bed. I smiled softly. I squeezed my hand out of his successfully and stretched my body. My calf stung when I slid onto the ground.. But it didn't stop me from trying to shove Diesel onto the bed. After that failed, I crawled back onto the bed and tried pulling. I got him halfway up when Jamie peeked her head in with a raised brow. I laughed nervously when she snorted. She helped me get the rest of him on the bed and I lightly tucked him in. I pushed his hair from his face, smiling at how peaceful he looked. Jamie grabbed my hand and towed me from the room."We're making breakfast Luna, care to join?" She asked. Luna? I didn't question it. There was too much information I still needed to learn, I'll get it eventually. I nodded.

Just like I thought, Diesel was sleeping beside me. I chuckled softly and ran my hand through his hair. His eyes slowly opened and a lazy smile lit his face."Good morning mon amour," he whispered."Mornin," his smile grew. After getting dressed Diesel and I walked downstairs and moaned at the smell of breakfast. Alma and Jamie were in the kitchen again."We made omelets," Alma said, not bothering to turn around."Have fun last night?" Jamie wiggled her brows. I stared at her confusingly before looking over to Diesel. He was glaring at her and his face was hot pink. He could read what she was thinking right? It clicked for me then when she wiggled her brows again."No no no no no!" I

-Self-harm trigger warning-"Here we go!" Jamie said while yanking the zipper up my back. This dress was way too small for me. Why did I have to wear a dress anyway? I was just meeting everyone. Not like its a party. She cussed when the zipper halted halfway up my back."Suck it in Ms. Snicker!" She hissed. What does that even mean? I sucked in my stomach and when the zipper went all the way up, I let out a heavy breath. She spun me around and grinned at me. Then she sauntered from the room. I dared a peek in the mirror then regretted it immediately. I was trapped in a tight black dress. It stuck to me like a second skin. It was off the shoulder and the bottom reached mid-thigh. I grabbed the bottom and tugged it down self-consciously. I turned around and gasped softly. It was even shorter in the back. This dress showed my every flaw. B

I woke up to warm hands around my face. I mumbled an incomprehensible response to which he chuckled. When I didn't open my eyes he stubbornly wrapped his arms around me and hoisted me off the bed at great speed. I let out a sound of surprise. When I was upside over his shoulder I finally could take a breath. I stared down at the white tile and panted in shock."Diesel!" I exasperated. He chuckled again before flipping me back over and holding me tight to his chest. My feet floated off the ground and my face was not an inch from him. His eyes were lit with excitement and his face was crinkled with a huge smile. Butterflies attacked my stomach and my heart dropped."Mon amour I want to apologize for last night's occurrences," his smile flattered and his eyes drifted to the floor. "Thing's have already been taken care of this morning. Thou
