Chapter 21

A cough woke him up from his thoughts. The person that was laying a distance away was actually not dead. Anderson wobbly walked over. Although a lot of his blood was taken, it was not to the point of incapacitation and he was slowly feeling better, although he was not exactly sure. When they got to him Sett turned over the person. “Oi old man!” It was old Felix. He was in a terrible state. He looked to have been shot several times in the back and just left for dead. It was more surprising that he had not died yet.He looked like he wanted to say something and just kept staring at Anderson. Unfortunately, that was the last of his strength. Old man Felix fell limp, no longer breathing. Sett looked like he was struggling to hold his tears back. Anderson, on the other hand did not feel anything. Whether it was that he had lost his memory or that he truly did not know him, either way, he did not feel any connection to the old man.“Sett. We need to leave.&

Chapter 22

“Darling.” Sett faced Xavier with a crooked smile. “The whole place seemed a mess, and I just didn’t want anyone coming to steal your precious research away.” Sett widened his crooked smile and slowly but confidently walked towards Xavier. “We wouldn’t want to lose our ticket out of here.” He finally got to Xavier as she lowered the gun that had been pointed at Anderson the entire time. Sett seeing that, looked at Xavier passionately and leaned in for a kiss. For some reason Anderson was having a bad feeling about the situation. *Bang* *Bang* As if the world was waiting for his unease, two shots suddenly echoed out. Anderson’s eyes widened at the sudden development. With the help of the wall, he weakly picked himself up. He was not about to stick around to find out who shot whom, although he knew very well what just happened.Sett dropped to the ground with a thud. Xavier wiped the blood Sett had coughed unto her li

Chapter 23

There was only about a meter to those white colored double doors. Anderson stared at it with great anticipation. His heart was beating so loud it felt as if his eardrums were about to burst. No matter what, those doors where the only thing that stood between him and freedom.Half a meter.Anderson was now so close. His steps started having a slight speed to them. He was so antsy about it, but he knew he did not need to make his actions seem suspicious. Anderson had realized anything could happen with where he was. That meant his plans needed to be executed with haste. He looked slightly behind him and calculated the distance between him and the Doctor Xavier.Ten steps. The moment he was in those doors, he would knock it into her. If even by some miraculous chance the doctor jumped back in time, he would quickly run into the operating room and arm himself. Anderson remembered there being a drill in the room. He could use that. If he could exhaust her bull

The situation however, had changed. Xavier had been in pain the entire time. For the first time in her dry and dull everyday life which was her work, she finally found someone she liked. Chapter 25

It was a simple rundown apartment. It had a kitchen and living room in the same place. One barely working toilet and shower in another room and finally one room by the side it. The couch in the living room was a red three seat couch that had holes in them. The red fabric had faded with patches here and there while at the same time, littered with unidentifiable dried stains. An old television stood in front of the old couch which was off.In the corner of the small apartment was a slightly malnourished boy of about ten years on his knees on the cold hard floor while facing the corner wall. His body was shaking from time to time, not knowing if it was because of the cold room and floor, or that he had been on his knees for hours. He had various scars of varying sized across his back and hands. He only had on a pair of shorts and socks with nothing to cover his skinny top.Even though the young boy had been by himself for so many hours, he did not dare to leave his kneeli

Chapter 26

Anderson was jolted awake the moment everything faded. He felt sharp burning pains in his chest and abdomen. The very same place he was shot. He threw fits of cough and could taste blood in his mouth, but no matter how he checked or spa out, he could not see any blood. Looking around, he could see that he had returned to the same dirt crossroad with Suit staring at him with a welcoming and amused smile. “Welcome back.”“What was that? What the hell is going on?” Anderson grabbed his chest and asked with a grim expression. Anderson wondered how he could be feeling the way he was feeling. He could still feel the pain of the gunshot wound. It was almost as if the bullets were still lodged in his stomach and chest, yet no matter how much he checked, rubbed or felt the area, he could not see or feel anything different. It was a very painful and uncomfortable feeling for him.“Well, you got shot. You are not expecting it to just go away, now are

Chapter 27

“Give it back.” Anderson demanded. “Whatever you took, bad or not. Give it back.” The feeling knowing you had something but had been taken from you, especially not knowing specifically what it was made him feel like a bit of his soul had been taken from him. It was a hallowing feeling. Suit shook his finger at Anderson. “Aren’t you being a little ungrateful, Anderson? Not only did I allow you to know what you will go through as a test run, but even after you failed, what I took away was a bad memory. Yet here you are whining like a little baby whose toy had been taken away. Humans.” Suit looked like he was getting angry at Anderson and his constant ‘Give me’ and ungrateful attitude. Thinking about it logically, Suit would indeed seem like he was on Anderson’s side, but Anderson knew very well not to trust the man or demon before him. Besides, Suit himself had confirmed that the world he put him in, even though Anderson still did not completely understand that part, h

Chapter 28

Anderson was back in the familiar darkness. Since he had been there a few times, there was no fear on his face. Although the place was dark, he could somehow see a few meters away from him. There was no source of light, yet he just could. He looked around, seemingly searching for something.“Looking for me?” A familiar voice sounded from behind him. Anderson turned around to see the familiar face staring at him with the mouth open in what Anderson could only assume to be trying to make a scary face. “Well, you’re no fun.” Seeing no reaction from Anderson, the other figure stopped trying and moved back. Anderson stared at the fellow that had stepped back. Same burnt face, same bloodied mouth. Finally having a proper look, there was not a single hair on his head either. It was all burnt away.“If you keep staring at me like that you’ll make me blush.” The guy chuckled seeing Anderson checking him out like that. Anderson sto

Chapter 29

Anderson walked out of his room into the creaking corridors of the second floor. The orphanage was a two-story building, and all the bedrooms were on the second floor. It was a very old orphanage, and everything was either very old and barely working or just broken down and collecting dust. Walking down the stairs, Anderson heard and felt it creak, causing him to slow his walk down. Although he knew, or more specifically, remembered that was how the stairs had always been, Anderson felt the memories that he had of his decade and something years he had been in the orphanage felt more like autopiloted than him actually experiencing it himself. It was like a murky layer had been removed from his eyes, allowing him to see things clearer.“Count Dracula finally rises. Muhahah!” Reaching the ground floor, Anderson was greeted by a familiar exaggerated voice. Anderson turned to a pretty dark-skinned teen feeding an eight-year-old girl seated on her lap. Kira: That was he

Chapter 30

The top floor had all the bathrooms and bedrooms. Facing the stairs along the long hallway were five bedrooms. From the looks of it, it seemed the orphanage in the past used to hold a lot of children and matrons. Now that there were not that many, Anderson and Carson were given the opportunity to have their own room since they were both old enough to have their privacy. Unfortunately, only one person would get that opportunity since the other would have to stay with the boys to help take care of them.Anderson occupied the last room on the right which was said to be the room of an old matron after winning it in a very long game of rock-paper-scissors. The room next to his was occupied by the twins and Carson. It was much larger compared to Anderson’s room. It had four different bunk beds. One occupied by the twins and another by Carson. You would think the twins would each occupy a bunk bed, but the refused to be separated from each other even if it meant sleeping on di
