Chapter 10 | Hugs and Kisses

~Nyla~I wanted to run back to my room as soon as possible, feeling stupid for making myself so obvious to him. Where did the feelings of anger and hatred for him go? They were there all right, but I only felt pain and a sense of betrayal right now. Wiping my tears, I was about to turn around the corner when Kian wrapped his arms around me from behind. I grabbed on his hands, trying to free myself, but he lifted me up like I weighed nothing and carried me to his room."Let me go! Don't touch me, you asshole! I hate you."He ignored my screams and walked into his room with me hanging to the side, kicking him and holding onto the walls near the doorway. The woman he was going to fuck was still there, looking confused as he threw her floral top at her."Out! Shut the door."He slammed me into the mattress and firmly pressed his body against me. A wave of heat flushed through my body as I felt his erection graze against my stomach. My nerv

Chapter 11 | Gone Girl

~Kian~I heard Nyla shut the door and secure the deadbolt as I walked back to my room. She has been locking her room pretty secure ever since the night I sneaked in after 2 AM to lie down next to her. I expected her to be tired and passed out completely, but she seemed to know about my intrusion that night. So glad she never confronted me about it.I'm doing a lot of stupid things these days and hoping no one notices the change in me. My wolf is completely out of control since the day I met her. I forgot how to fucking think when I first saw her. It has been a while that my heart beats so fast for someone. Seeing her cry twisted my stomach. I'm very well aware of the pain that comes when the mate bond breaks and the fact that I was the one to cause all that pain made me loathe my existence. When she asked me to spare her friend, I obeyed her without thinking. She is trouble for sure.My beta won't stop asking why I let her friend go wh

Chapter 12 | The Changed Priorities

~Kian~ The scent of rain and raspberries filled my senses as soon as I turned the corner to reach Nyla's room. I was sure I heard her lock the door last night, but it was ajar right now. She might have woken up a few times to feed the baby. Why leave the door open? I pushed it further open, feeling slightly anxious about her going missing, even when her scent was strong. Seeing her safe and asleep so peacefully, a sudden sense of euphoric bliss washed over me.  She had her dainty arms wrapped around her baby in a protective grip as the baby latched onto her breast and sucked happily. She must be exhausted to have fallen asleep in the middle of feeding, with the door open like that. I walked closer to get a better look at her face. Unless I was kissing her senseless, her crescent-shaped eyebrows were always scrunched whenever she saw me. With sweeping eyelashes, a cute button nose, and puffy heart-shaped lips, her sleeping face was urging me to ra

Chapter 13 | Oopsies

~Nyla~I rubbed my eyes wearily when I heard Ren knock on the door to bring some breakfast for me. Why doesn't this Kian let me sleep in or leave me alone?I got no time to rejuvenate my pendant's energy because the full moon didn't rise until a little before five in the morning. Sadie was a petty creature who didn't deserve my energy to be wasted on, but her meddlesome attitude turned out to be a pain when I tried to get Adalyn to step outdoors. I had no intentions to take her down, but I had to. Add Ren to the mix, and I thought I almost lost my chance this month. Not wanting to kill Ren, I had to muddle her memories. Sadie hated me and wouldn't trust me at all, so it was not possible to confuse her.I already expected Adalyn to put up a tough fight because she seemed to be as strong as Maya. Maya was unmatchable on full moon nights, of course, while these she-wolves didn't have any such extra special powers. What came as a nasty surprise t

Chapter 14 | The Alpha Ceremony

~Nyla~ I literally had to push Kian out of the door before getting some decent rest. Not sure where he got this idea that the best way to protect me was by staying stuck to me all day. I slept almost all day after kicking him out; long naps before and after lunch to recover from the over-exhaustion. Ari was my alarm clock, and we both slept once she was fed. After stepping out under the full moon and feeling alive for a little bit in the morning, staying in bed all day was suffocating now. I unlocked the door to step into the balcony and have some coffee before getting dressed for the stupid ceremony. The moment I opened the door, I ran straight into the muscled back of some burly man dressed in all black. I was short by no means, but this guy made me feel like a Tyrion. He turned around to glare at me with a hardened face while I rubbed my nose.  His gaze and frown morphed into something less scary once he saw me. I heard another deep vo

Chapter 15 | An Excuse

~Nyla~"Werewolf ceremonies are a beautiful thing, isn't it? I get goosebumps all the time no matter how many I have attended already." I heard a familiar voice and was delighted to see Olivia."Livi! I have missed you! Especially our conversations over coffee." I didn't even get a chance to say bye to her when moving to Kian's floor."Oh, wow! You look stunning. But why in the world do you need sunglasses when it's already dark out here?"I have pink eye. Didn't want to give it to you all.""Oh no! I hope you are keeping well. I miss you every day. With Sadie gone, I feel quite alone in the room. Is he treating you okay?"My cheeks turned red as if I have been shacking up with Kian day and night. It was only then that I noticed the pool of moisture between my legs.It definitely turned me on watching him and hearing him talk. No idea what he said as part of his swearing-in because my brain fogged up imagining things I wanted to do to

Chapter 16 | Reject Me

~Nyla~"Okay, let's go talk to him," I told Rachel and walked over to where he was standing. If it wasn't for an enemy pack surrounding me with their fangs and claws, I'd have pushed the woman away from Kian and kicked his butt. But why? Didn't I just tell him I hated him? He's free to do whatever with whoever, as long as he doesn't bother me. Can't survive without lying to myself. I stopped about a foot away from him, not wanting to confront him anymore.Rachel must have thought I was near-sighted and couldn't see the woman until I walked close to them. This clingy woman who wrapped herself around him like some parasitic vine wore a red dress with such a low cut and showed her ample cleavage to him. "What's there to see anymore? She left nothing to the imagination." I was bubbling with rage and jealousy. "That's nothing, Riley. It's not his fault if she wants to seduce him. He's not going to sleep with her." His little sister was would

Chapter 17 | She Hates Me

~Kian~ Training sucks today. I didn't sleep a wink after Nyla kicked me out of her room last night. It's not like I expected her to run into my arms or cuddle with me, but a slap?? And the worst thing is, I wasn't mad at her at all.  Rex had to rub some salt into the wound by telling me I deserved it. He was the asshole who provoked me in the first place. The only person who felt bad in that room was Nyla's baby. She came to my rescue by crying and drawing her mom's attention; saved me from that sharp tongue dishing out more harsh words.   Sometimes I wonder if finding a mate for a second time was a curse in disguise. Rex wouldn't agree, of course, and he lost his shit when he heard Nyla say the words, 'Reject me.' If I think about it hard enough, she has a good point. "Our mate stays, and we aren't rejecting her," Rex said with a finality in his voice. "Pay attention to the kid in front of you. He's going to land anothe

Chapter 18 | The Skinwalkers

~Nyla~ I had no idea where Kian went to or how he was doing. I asked Rachel, and all she knew was that he went away for some pack affairs, which he usually let Ryder or Finn handle. He probably wanted to stay away from me.   Who told him he could decide these things on his own? I suppose he was sulking at me for the slap because he refused to look at me for more than a second when he got back from training. Walking in with that hot sweat-drenched face and looking out of breath, he thought that was the best time to ignore me, while my body was screaming to go close to him, real close, and make up for pushing him away. Ari kept me busy, but that was not enough to push his thoughts away. I did a lot of things to fill my days with things and people. Car shopping with Rachel, a trip to the grocery store with Olivia, and rearranging the garden beds with Ren. Nothing was enough to make me forget him for more than a few seconds. Rachel broug

Chapter 19 | A Switch

~Nyla~ It has been four days that Kian returned from his trip and lay sedated in the bed most of the night. Rex was still not back and the only assurance is from Rachel's words that the pack doctor said he was still alive.  As days passed, Kian seemed all right on the surface, but his wolf was in pain. With his dad and Ryder taking charge of things in his absence, I was extremely careful to not wander around in the daytime.  I patiently waited for it to be night so I could spend time with him again... for those precious two hours when I could lie next to him until it was time to feed Ari again. He was always sedated at night to heal faster, and his folks left him alone once it was past midnight. Until a few days back, the pack warriors did not guard the buildings because of the enchantments, but now there were guards in every corner to stop intruders since Rex wasn't there to detect them. It's funny how no one ever suspected an insid
