The Dinner (2)

The woman untangled her arm from Cain’s and stepped forward to greet Alya. “We meet again,” she remarked, holding out her hand. “I’m Jenna. Jenna Park.” Alya was hesitant to shake her hand. The woman was quite attractive with her dark hair parted to her side. She wore a high necked beige dress which parted downwards to show her heavy cleavage and she was wearing a pair of dazzling beige earrings. Her dress was perfectly hugging her voluptuous curves and her smooth skin was expertly dabbed with makeup. Compared to her, Alya felt underdressed. Jenna looked at her from head to toe. “Nice dress,” she commented. She masked her comment with sarcasm but she knew her insult wa

The Dinner (3)

Jason stiffened at the sight of the loathful duo while Cain simply sipped water from his glass. If there was something common between the cousins, it was their dislike of this particular pair. “Who the hell are they?” Alina muttered at Jason. Alya also leaned in close to them. “Why am I getting bad vibes from them?” she whispered. “I’ll tell you two later but right now, keep up the act,” Jason muttered back at them. The couple who just entered were in their fifties. Aaron had blue eyes like Jason and Cain with the same oval face as his son. In fact, he looked a lot similar to Cain with the same hair except for the age lines on his face.  Dahlia, on the other hand, was a

Th Dinner (4)

Jason was wincing inwardly but he knew that the damn butler was up to something. Yang had sent the food list specifically as per Alya’s preference. There was no way that Yang would include only non-vegetarian dishes.  Austin had been loyal to the Tang’s for years and was one of Cain’s most trusted men. There was no doubt that after hearing Yang’s instructions, Austin had manipulated the list to make grandpa Max believe that Alya loved meat dishes. But if Alya refused to eat, it would be an insult to Max because for him, food was a sacred thing. Anyone refusing to eat in his household would fall in his eyes. I’ll have to deal with this, Jason decided. “Come on, honey,” he said, trying to mimic a sweet tone. “Say ahhh!&rdquo

Detox

Alya was nervous. Sharing a room with Jason was making her fidget. She glanced at him as they walked up the stairs but he seemed to be unfazed by it. One of the maids had escorted Alina to another bedroom so it made the mermaid even more nervous to be staying the night with Jason. Her heart was beating very fast. Jason did not seem to notice her predicament. He was leading her to his room without much care. “This is it,” he said. They stopped in front of a large mahogany door. He pushed it open for her. “Woah!” Alya exclaimed. The entire room was divided into two segments. The main bedroom was separated by a sliding door while the rest of the room was a fireplace. Unlike the rest of the mansion, Jason’s room had a blue ambience. The walls were p

A Place Like Home

Alya had just finished her swim and gotten out of the pool, her tail changing back to her legs. She was about to grab a towel from a chair nearby when the door opened and someone walked in. “Alya, I told you to go to sleep-” Jason was saying as he opened the door. Alya froze and spun around to find him staring at her in shock. His face was becoming redder and even she was feeling highly embarrassed. “Y-y-y-y-you…” he stammered. Alya also stared back at him in horror and quickly grabbed a towel to cover herself.  “WHY THE HELL ARE YOU NAKED?” he yelled. Jason immediately turned around to not look at her anymore. His whole face had heated up and he was at a loss. He slept with many women and saw them naked in bed.

His Hugs Are Warm

Alina gaped in shock, stupefied by the scene she was witnessing. She could not believe her eyes and had to dab them several times to make sure she was not hallucinating. Her uncle Jason was hugging Alya in his sleep!  Meanwhile, Alya and Jason were fast asleep, unaware of the little girl who was still staring at them. Jason mumbled something and hugged his warm bolster, lost in his dreamland. He was sleeping soundly after a long time and was in no mood to wake up. Alina poked her uncle’s cheek. “Uncle,” she poked. “I think you need to wake up. Now.” “Five more minutes,” he mumbled and went back to sleep. Alina

Mermaid's First Day of Work

Cain was in the car with his father Aaron while Malorie sat in the front seat with the chauffeur. Aaron was addressing his son, talking about an important business deal. “Jenna’s father, James Park, is not happy with the delay in the wedding,” Aaron was saying. “He’s given an ultimatum. Until the wedding takes place, he’ll not be investing in our company anymore.” “The engagement already took place!” Cain groaned. “What else does he want? The wedding will happen eventually.” “It’s been two years since then!” Aaron scolded his son. “You know how important this money is to us! They’re saving us from bankruptcy, Cain. If you keep delaying the wedding-”

Mermaid's First Day of Work (2)

Alya slowly entered the HR department. Unlike the rest of the building, the HR department was closed off and isolated from all other departments. There was only one window while the large space was divided into glass cubicles for the employees.  There was a small break room at one end while a waiting area was set up next to it. The walls were coated with blue pastel paint which reminded her of the sea but the shade was much lighter. A faint scent of coffee and gum lingered in the air and even though it was not unpleasant, Alya scrunched her nose in annoyance. It was not a smell she was very fond of. She quickly scanned through the glass doors on her way. There were a handful of people in the cubicles, busy poring over stacks of documents or typing away on their laptops. No one spared a glance at her as she made her way towards o

Mermaid's First Day of Work (3)

“Intern, get me my coffee!” “Intern, where are the threads I asked for?” “Where’s my sandwich?” Alya was at a loss. Orders were coming in from everyone and she was confused by the barrage of demands. Since morning, she had been dealing with this on her own and messed up many of the orders. “I wanted an Americano, not a latte!” one of the employees complained. “A-Americano?” Alya stammered. What was that? “Get it right!” the employee barked at her. Alya sighed which was heard by the employee who was shouting at her.

Flamingo Lady's Tale

The clock struck 5 PM and it was the end of working hours. Everyone around Alya began to pack up their bags and were leaving their workstations. She sighed and continued to read up on the orders she had been given by the employee earlier. Earlier, she tried to ask for help from others but they claimed to be busy or avoided her, unwilling to help out the newbie. No one bothered to bid her goodnight as they exited the room, leaving her behind. She was asked to stay back by David anyway because Alexandra was taking her to a fashion show. David had warned her not to tell the other employees about it. As if anyone will even talk to me, Alya thought in misery.  She was still trying to figure out about the dresses which she was supposed to design. Alina and Jason had taught he
