First Day

Kelly just dropped her baby off with Petra so she could have some time to learn about her new job without distraction. Kyle assured her that Eddie could be with her until he was old enough to spend time with the other pups. She’d be able to experience the day shift and the night shift.             Kyle was a very attentive teacher, and she’d found that she enjoyed her first shift. The patrons were of course other pack. However, she’d not been able to interact much with them until now. Mostly everyone was nice and patient. Kyle wouldn’t let her deal with the troublemakers, and he quickly removed the rowdy ones with their insults. She discovered quickly that those patrons didn’t like being reminded they could report their behaviour to their loved ones, and they quickly left.       &nb

Hurry Up and Wait

They were now on hold, waiting for something to happen. They needed to meet with the Druid ambassador and their soon-to-be pack members for the first time. But time wasn’t being their friend. Alrick paced agitatedly in their room as Jessie lay down. He knew Jessie wasn’t sleeping; she wanted to, but his mood and actions were too distracting.             “Okay, maybe you could shift and try pacing like that?” Alrick looked at her with one eyebrow raised.             “What? Oh, I guess it can’t be any worse than pacing in this form.” Distracted by his thoughts, he peeled out of his clothes and shifted into his wolf form. His paws were far quieter than his shoes, however, only if he walked carefully on the rug. Claws and hardwood floors w

Druid Meeting

Craig awakened both Jessie and Alrick by banging on their room’s door. Alrick didn’t remember falling asleep, but he woke up, nevertheless.             Bleary-eyed, they both readied themselves to see the Ambassadors again. Edith and Allan came to collect their entourage again, and everyone returned to the conference room. These were the religious experts of the supernatural world. They would have the last word on whether the prophecies came from the goddess, or some imposter. Where in the pantheon the goddess resided, and who could have such power over her?             Sitting there waiting for the other Ambassadors Alrick spoke with Allan in hushed tones. Jessie sat at the table with her head on her folded arms on the tabletop.             “Is this going to be th

Wolf Napping and Blueberry muffins

Several hours later. The Druids were themselves hesitant to declare this meet a true meeting with the goddess. However, they agreed it was an encounter with an extreme power being. A member of a group of Fae pulling strings behind the scenes, maybe. If this was an ancient Fae that somehow missed the removal from this plane of existence all those years ago. It was not unheard of for Fae to interfere with each other’s lives for reasons only they could understand. Maureen explained the Greece Pantheon and how they interacted was very much the way Fae society was.       The concern for the situation sparked through everyone in the room. Two enemies in our midst. Edith and Allan were passing the information to the other Ruling Councils of the world. When they did this, it did not take long to find out wh

Meeting Day

Everyone filed into the room and found a place to settle. Alrick thanked what greater power pushed him to get up and dress so quickly. Lately, he’s been lounging in bed with Jessie. He’d be the first to admit now he’d something or someone more interesting keeping him there. But this bed just didn’t fit the bill. He wouldn’t be comfortable until they were all back within the Silver Ridge territory.             Once enough food was there, everyone tucked into it, except for Jessie. She picked at a slice of toast.             “Now this is how it will go today. We’ll speak with nine groups today. There’s not much doubt that we’ll bring all back with us tomorrow. It’s more of a get to know one meeting. The object here is to

Jessie's Perspective

Jessie fell in love with every one of the little pups today. One or two still possessed a parent, but it would be touch and go to see whether those parents became a statistic. No one spoke of it, but that was the sad truth of the matter. These tykes were dealing with the loss of one parent, but it would more likely be both soon enough. She could tell who was their surviving parent by the haunted look in their eyes. There’d be so much to do for them. She prayed they’d be able to give it to them. What was coming… no, it’s here. Edith mentioned they’d verified the Fae within this realm again.              How would the humans react to this? What types of chaos would they sow? How much destruction would they leave behind?              Jessie’s mind was boggled at the onslaught of q

The Portal Home

Early morning finally came, and Jessie struggled to get moving. The morning sickness came back with a vengeance, and she swore Kelly never experienced it this badly. Now she felt relief when someone else took charge of her luggage. All she needed to do was drag herself through before getting ready. Breakfast was more a matter of trying to lose her nausea and less about eating.              She found it rather unsettling when Alrick left her alone for a time without telling her he left or when he would be back. Jessie felt fear well up inside her because she thought he’d left her behind. Abandoned her.              But he came back. He wouldn’t tell her why he’d left, but while they organized the lines for transportation through the portals Jessie heard Craig

Settling into a New Home

Finally, the crowd settled down and found seats. Thanked them for choosing to follow him. He introduced the Silver Ridge command structure and how it works. The pups became restless, as expected, and they escorted the ones that wished to meet the pups of the Silver Ridge Pack out to do that. Those in charge of the maternal end would sort their clothes and such out. Heather would assist them, and of course, she and her mate would house many of them.             After that, Alrick explained they were settling everyone into their temporary spaces. They would register clothing sizes along with what they needed. They’d do their best to get everything. When the last person finished with that, they’d ensure everyone ate before travelling to the Iron Hill Packhouse where they’d assign them space of their own while they waited for hous

Never a Good Time

Alrick headed straight to the packhouse with Craig and others in tow. He barely noticed much beyond snapping orders and those around him turning the orders into actions. A summons went out to their fighting force. Craig hauled in their Arms Master and briefed him on what they were up against. After that, Craig assessed their new fighters skills and took stock of who responded to the call. It didn’t take long for most to arrive. Others were calling in and the Gammas responded.             There wasn’t time to be overwhelmed. Alrick entered his office and immediately contacted Edith and her people.“Alrick, we just sent you off. Whatever is the problem? Did someone not make it?” Edith picked up the call the phone once an assistant put him through to her.“Ambassador. As you know of the speculation that

Protection and Preparations

Jessie couldn’t think of what she was doing. All she could think of was responding to one question after another. Several people kept coming to her to verify the things they needed to do. They brought concerns about where missing people were. They expected her to have answers to solve their problems and concerns. Lily and Joyce were right there beside her. Three hundred-plus people were relying on them to form a safe place where they could live together. Only one or two people found an issue with finding space for the new members to stay.Lily arranged groups to track down the missing members. Joyce found volunteers to call missing members. Bonnie worked on getting the new members ready to move. She recorded where everyone went in case of emergency or disaster.Jessie could feel the stress building within her. But she felt like she couldn’t think about it. Or a way to stop it without ignoring the pack who needed her to direct them. She was so far out of her
