CHAPTER 2

The orientation is short and Steph and I went to our room section. As we got to our room section, we sat on the empty seats in the second row since the first and third row are already occupied by some our of classmates. I think they are the old students here because it seems like they already know each other. Those who are the quiet ones are the new students like me and Steph. I hope we all should get along well. After a while, a middle-aged man, holding a book entered the classroom. "Good morning, students! My name is Frederick Atkison. I will be your professor in Economics." He introduces. And as a tradition, we write our names on the one-fourth sheet of paper, passed it to the Professor. He calls our names randomly and we introduce ourselves to us to know each other. "Anyway, class. As we got to the cafeteria, we lined up to buy food. The cafeteria is very occupied and quite crowded. Well, yeah because it's the first day of school. "What do you want to eat?" I ask Steph while looking at the menu board. "As usual. Just a second. I'm going to pee. Be right back." She says and hurriedly walks out of the cafeteria. Speaking of her 'as usual' she is talking about her all-time favorite, jacket potato with filling and egg mayo sandwich. "Are you serious? Is Khai studying here? What's his department?" I stop looking at the menu board when I heard that name. Looking at my right side, I saw two pretty tall girls are talking from the other line. He is still popular. "Yes. I am dead serious. I throw myself on the sofa as Steph and I got home. Very tiring. It makes me hungry. Steph throws her bag on the couch, removes his shoes, leaving her socks, then walks through the kitchen."What do you want to eat for dinner?" She asks from the kitchen."Do we still have pork? I want to eat bacon." I lazily say while my eyes are closed."There is no pork! Are you okay with chicken!?"My eyes suddenly open when I heard 'no pork,' no way. I am craving bacon. I want to eat bacon. I got up from lying."No! I will go to buy pork! Where is the key?!" I ask, yelling."I left it inside the car. Buy cheese and chicken tuna too!""Okay! Be right back." I say and leave the house.I park the car in front of the convenience store and went out. "You!?" I slightly yell at Khai. He is walking with me while his arms are crossed over his chest. "What are you doing here?" I ask, manage to be polite. "I'm going to the bathroom." "You are?" I look at him suspiciously. He nods his head, looking straight in the hallway. "If so, why are you following me?" "I know you need my help." He then looks at me. When did I say that anyway? I stop walking and face him. He also stops walking. "Hey, are you trying to mug on me again?" I question while raising my eyebrows. He suddenly laughs at my question which caused me stunned seeing how his heart-shaped lips parted and his white exposed. Did he just really laughs? Out of nowhere, I heard a strange sound coming from my chest. I haven't seen his laughs for three years and I missed... What? What am I saying? I look away and start walking away from him.

A small smile slipped out on his lips. "Yeah. My treat." He says. "Okay. Let's go!" ~*~ I stop walking and face him while smiling in sarcasm. "No thanks. Steph is waiting for me at home. Bye." I says and was about to take a step but he spoke. "How about tomorrow?" What? Why would I eat dinner with him? Is he crazy? "I'm not free," I say, not looking at him. "When is your free time then?" Why is he asking? "I don't have free time. Bye." I say then I walk away before he could speak. Why is he doing? What does he need from me?

KHAI's POVEating alone in the morning in a huge dining room and a long table with a lot of food is my daily routine ever since now. My parents are both busy with our business. Not new. I don't have siblings. I want of having one but mum doesn't want to, my dad either. I live my life alone even though I have them both. It is funny, isn't it? Our dance class has ended. It was so uneasy for me because Khai is my partner. "You're here!" Steph beams as I enter the living room. She just came out from the dining area, bringing a bowl that has chips. "Um. Have you eaten? You didn't wait for me again." I say, throwing myself on the sofa. "I'm sorry. I need to practice for tomorrow. Don't worry, I cooked your favorite food. Go eat, and rest after. Okay?" "Okay. Practice well. Goodnight." I say. "Uh, wait." She stopped walking up the stairs. "How was your practice?" She asks, but I wasn't able to answer her right away. I don't know what should I answer because I cannot tell if it was okay or not. Except that I didn't memorize the dance steps, I also didn't like what Khai did. I don't understand why is he doing this to me? It is because he wants my forgiveness, or he wants me back? Jeez. I am thinking nonsense. Why would he want me back? Crazy. He has someone already, and I don't care about him anymore.
