Chapter 70

Dhruv does not revolt for once when I pull him towards another ride and then another. He strangely remains silent and there is no hint of him being angry. And I feel powerful. Since Dhruv did not make any contact with me but rather I did, it does not break the clause of the contract. Not that I am interested in holding his hand or anything. He just looks a bit pale and lost in this amusement park which makes me come to this assumption that he is not used to living like this. And rides nauseate him. Plus, blondie here is in no shape to take care of him. He looks like he is lost in his own world and hardly pulling through.  "You should have told me earlier that you don't like rides." I say and he flushes.  "I—they are childish. I don't understand the concept of enjoying something like that." He defends and I chuckle.  "Come on. They are not that childish. But I do respect your point. Not

Chapter 71

The journey to my house is peacefully silent. No one makes a noise or tries to start a conversation. And strangely, it does not feel required at this moment either. Dhruv looks past his side of the window without spilling a word. I do the same, but my thoughts are more or less focused on our moment on the Giant wheel. It felt too magical to be true. Did I fall asleep and dream about it? I don't know. The mixed emotions induced from the incident render me silent and blondie behind... Well, he does not even fall into the context. No one can tell that he is sitting behind our seat.  Dhruv was sceptical about taking him along because it is weird. But since rules are rules, he had to. I seriously don't get the concept of having someone like him with us to keep a watch. What are we? Five year old kids? Though the fact that we went into an amusement park, and Dhruv bought a bag full of potato chips proves the above statement. He offered to give both

Chapter 72

"You know what happened??!!!" Lai screams and squeals to the extent that I have to close my ears shut. These are the times I feel my future will be deaf, if not blind.  "Stop it! First of all, how would I know? Secondly, you are screaming too much! If Aunty hears you another time, the fate of your day will be spent in the hands of scrubbing dishes and cleaning the floor. Do you want that?"  Laila gasps. "Yeah, yeah. You are right. I just got one day to relax. I can't do household work." Her eyes grow wide and look in space.  "Exactly, my point. Now spill all the details, from head to butt. Did any guy try hitting on you?" I wiggle my somewhat existing eyebrows. If Eleanor and her torturous team of hell did not fix, I would have to question their entire existence resting on my forehead. I have to give them the credits for that. Farming eyebrows in barren land is not an easy job. &

Chapter 73

Dhruv calls me at night, after I go through the net to look for a job for Laila and we come to the conclusion that she should try out teaching nursery students because she loves kids. He tells me about her next date which is tomorrow, which unfortunately also collides with the day Laila is going for her first job interview. Now, knowing this girl, I cannot leave her alone on her own. Or else the interview staff will kick her out in a second. So I came up with a plan.  "Uh, can we make this a bit early this time?" I ask and squeeze my eyes in anticipation of what his reply would be.  "Early? But why?" He asks from the caller's end, and clear disappointment reflects in his voice. "Eh... it's because one of my friends has an interview tomorrow so I have to really go with her. It is really important for her future." An exhale comes from the other side and there is a moment of silence. A silence that s

Chapter 74

Laila hops on the car with me following her lead. She settles on her place, talking about my dress when something catches her eye on the back. "Ah!!!" She screams.  "What?" I look to your back and find Blondie sitting in the backseat with a stoic face. How am I not surprised?  "Who is he? When did he get inside the car? Oh my God, don't tell me…" her eyes grow wide at blondie. "...he's a terrorist!! David! Do you have any guns in your car? We must protect ourselves—" "I am not a terrorist." A masculine voice comes from somewhere and I look around, trying to track the source of the voice. Did someone else talk here? Finding no one, I look back at Blondie whose blue eyes shoot daggers at Laila. Did he...did he really talk? He opens his sealed mouth again. "Don't call me that. I hate them." His hard eyes look down and he grunts.  "What is the proof that you are

Chapter 75

"You seriously did not do that!" I point at the fallen train.  "No." Laila pants. "I just pressed the lever. That's all. Why would I be so stupid to break the train like that?"  "But it did break! What do we do now? We broke the school's property. Do we have to pay for it?" I look around and then walk towards the door to check if anyone is here or not. The corridor is empty and it does not look like anyone passed from here, since this is the last room. "Nobody was here. Then, let's do one thing. Put the toy back like it was before. I am sure they do not inspect toys that much. If they see any abnormalities later, we will say we don't know." I whisper and Laila nods her head.  We bend over to the floor and start putting everything back in place. A few seconds later, the toy train station looks completely untouched. Laila bites her nail. "Nobody would understand that the train is broken, right?

Chapter 76

"What the—" Dhruv looks down at the plastic empty bottle that hit him with utter disgust. "Who did this?" He looks up at the four of us, and his angry, hazel eyes look at me in realisation. I walk towards him with a guilty face. "Meera?" He points at the bottle that lays on the ground.  "I'm so sorry. It was my fault. I should have seen you coming. But it wasn't my intention at all." I touch his forehead. "Are you hurt?" I just hope this does not make me lose my job. This is the first time Dhruv is hit by something. The business tycoon is hit by a plastic bottle.  Dhruv's hard eyes soften at my touch and there is a swirl of mixed emotions in them. Amusement? What is so amusing in this? "It's... alright. I'm okay." He fumbles with his words as he stares at me.  "Are you sure?" I scan his head and it looks clean. Nobody would be able to tell that he was hit by a plastic bottle. That also

Chapter 77

It is my third time coming to Dhruv's mansion. The place looks the same as when I saw it before. Dhruv's car stops in front of the building and I step out of it. This was the same place where we had an argument. It's an experience I can never forget. Even if I do want to. He had judged me at this place. He did apologize though. But I don't know how much honesty is there behind his words. Dhruv steps out of the car from the opposite direction and he calls out to his driver and tells him something. I don't know what he is upto. Maybe he is playing with my feelings. If I had the choice, I would have treated him the same way I did earlier until the moment he cracks up and understands that he can go nowhere with his plan. But I can't and so I have to stay mentally strong. Always keep my guard on.  "Meera." Dhruv calls me and I walk towards him and then we both walk to the door. He opens the door for me and I walk in. Blondie and Dhruv both walk ins

Chapter 78

At this moment, we have a lot of distance between each other. Of course,we are sitting at different places. There is no way he can touch me. Also, there is the clause of the contract that he can't disobey. Yet, I feel his eyes touching my body like none other. The way his unwavering gaze burns holes in my body, I wonder what will happen if he touches me for real. And for the worst, would I stop him? Dhruv pulls away his eyes from me and regains his old expression. "I should bring something for you to eat." He moves up from his seat and walks straight towards his private bar and passes it to the back. I wonder what is behind the bar.  I sigh in my seat and spread my arms and legs over, just to stretch my body. Sitting on this couch makes me feel confined to a small place. Not that I mind, but I have a habit of stretching my body whenever I can. I can't do that in front of Dhruv, so I had to wait for him to leave me with myself and my weird anti

Chapter 79

"Boyfriend?" I stare at him in shock. "You–you are my sugar daddy."  "Yes, I know." Dhruv says with a straight face. "But I want to be more than that. I hope you remember, Meera. What I said in the park? I want you to like me,not because of my money, but because of me in general." I gulp the lump in my throat. "So, I would like to push our time together beyond the bounds of the six months. I want to learn about you and spend more time with you. I will definitely pay you. But after the six months are over, we get to decide whether we choose to stay or leave from this relationship." He sips his water in the glass. "From my side, I know that I won't be the one breaking this contract." I look at him, my face burning with embarrassment. Yes, it will be me who will break this contract if the time comes. " I am scared that you will leave me. So I want to give my best to hold you back." My eyes flutter and so does my heart, as I hear those words
