CHAPTER 11: JOLENE

Rebecca swung her legs happily back and forth as she sat on the clinic bed. She’d just received a message from William, asking how she was. His message was short, but the words warmed her heart. Oh, how she yearned to see him again! She thought of replying but held back. He was probably busy, and she didn’t want to appear too readily available.Maybe I’ll call him later to see how he is, she thought, as the nurse prepared to jab her with a tetanus shot.

In the darkened interrogation room, a knock came at the door, and an officer came in to hand John a new folder. It was the forensics report on Irana Long. CHAPTER 19: THE GAME

William looked at her, his eyes, dark and smouldering. He had never looked more handsome than he did right now but Rebecca found herself shaking her head. This was appalling. No way was she going to walk around in public with a vibrator. William shifted closer to Rebecca, the light from above highlighting his premature grey streaks. Gently, he cupped her face in his hand and rubbed her lips with his thumb. Rebecca could feel her heart beat faster.
