Kate had awoken to the sound of her brother leaving. She said nothing as she listened to him leave their hollow, his pawsteps quiet as he tried not to disturb her sleep. His pawsteps faded and Kate decided to get up but paused as the scent of Ami filled her nose. "Why hello sleepy head." Ami said her gold colored eyes glowing. "What do you want?" Kate asked ignoring the feelings she got if she stared to long into those golden eyes.Ami took a step back startled by Kate's hostility. "Well I wanted to see if you wanted to hunt with me since your brother is clearly doing his own thing." She said and Kate was taken aback. "Sure." Kate said in a monotone voice not lowering her guard at this stranger of a friend....The woods were filled with life as she and Ami stalked through the undergrowth, two rabbits were just up ahead, both her and Ami crouched on instinct, they looked at each other for a moment before silently agreeing on moving forward. They stalked onward till they were foot away

"So why stay? You also mentioned that you came here for me, why?" Kate asked, she was blunt and although she did feel bad for what Ami had been through, she still felt as though Ami wasn't telling her something. "I don't want to stay forever but I figured I'd come and visit an old friend and I must confess something to you but now isn't the right time. Why don't you meet me here tomorrow night?" Ami said, unfazed by Kate's bluntness. "Fine, I'll meet you here tomorrow. Anyways, why did you leave all those years ago?" Kate asked, finally able to ask the question that has haunted her for years.Ami was surprised by the question and hung her head low, as though guilty of something. "It was because of you." Was all Ami said before turning tail and running, leaving Kate with more questions than answers. "Well that was odd." Kate said to herself....Kate left soon after Ami took off, deciding to take a route that took her along the wolves and hers shared boundary. "Well if it isn't the Vixe

I let the room of the clinic, Anna and Nemora following close behind me. I listened to the door click and almost felt disappointed for leaving the little fox and pup alone. I watched as Anna whispered to her mate, causing Nemora to blush harshly and run-off. I looked at Anna curiously and she smiled at me calmly. "Nathan I would like to talk to you about our guest and about the two wolves who decided they wanted to play a game of Cat and Mouse with him." Anna said blatantly and I nodded leading the way to my office. I understood her anger, I felt it too but my anger ran on a much deeper level. It was something personal and I hadn't a clue as to why the situation was problematic for me. Of course, the two did something horribly wrong but I'd usually let my beta take care of their punishm

13 - The Fox

I awaken from my sleep a while ago and I was enjoying the quiet breaths of the pup beside me. It was calming and something deep within me stirred. I knew all too well what that something was and I couldn't agree more with it. It the feeling of wanting, the feeling of wanting a family, of wanting not to be alone anymore, and in truth, I wanted somebody that I could lean on and tell them all the things that I had been through. What my family did to me but most of all I wanted a family with that person. I couldn't lie to myself that I was jealous of the person I had seen in that reflection. I was jealous of the happiness that person had the family they had as well and I knew all too well that I was jealous of myself or rather that version of me. My fox grunted in agreement and I knew that

Glass laid shattered on the wooden floor and the arrow that had a note tied to it was still embedded into the wall behind me. The note that contained the warning or rather a pledge to kill my whole pack laid open on my desk as I examined the piece of parchment, trying to figure out who this cocky bastard truly was. Count Faeth Courline, the bastard who wrote the letter, the one who was threatening the things and people I loved.Although the name was useful it also wasn't. The title Count was someone of a high-ranking class. Humans had stopped using the term long ago but creatures such as the Fae, Elf, and Vampiric species still used it. Other species that used the title weren't too picky or cocky about flaunting the title but the person seemed to flaunt it as though it was a prized jeweled. Fae were peaceful creatures and wouldn't hurt anyone, let alone they would leave behind a magical trace and a fragrant scent that couldn't be covered up. The Vampiric species loved using t

15 - The Fox

As the thought of a family and my determination to have one filled my mind, Anna was just finishing up checking on my side. The pup had sat next to me, watching as Anna prodded my side and apply some healing ointment along with changing the bandages. After she had applied the ointment and the bandages the pain that was once in my side was now diminishing. I was happy about that because the pain was bothersome and let alone it meant that my wound was finally beginning to heal. It also helped that I was now being fed regularly and my healing abilities as a shifter were once again returning. I was smiling at that fact and although it was small it was, to me, a step in the right direction. In the direction towards the possibility of having a family of my own. I was drawn out of my thoughts by Anna speaking to me. "Okay, so your wound is healing pretty well. Now I know this might bother you but once your wound is completely healed I would like to see you in human form. I'd l

I let out a sigh as I sat on the terrace that was located just outside my bedroom. Yesterday was full of unexpected events. I was given a death threat, my mother told me the truth about my father's death and the murder that she committed, and I had figured out through a very long grapevine that the pup who I had taken from the care center the day before was beginning to form a bond with the fox. I had also heard that Anna had scolded her mate on the subject of not judging other shifter species. A surprising argument to arise between the two but I barely paid mind to that rumor since it was none of my business to know the arguments that happened between mates. I had been told that the two who had hurt the fox, who was most likely my mate, had been punished. Stevan was pushing their training and reprimanding them for anything they did wrong while Anna had decided to give them a little harsher punishment, which was acceptable for what they did. She gave them the job of killing prisoner

The fox was asleep, its tail curled over the pup that was nuzzled into its stomach. My wolf was preening with pride as we saw our mate curling up and being gentle with the pup. Holding the plate of food I went over to my mate but stopped when Anna revealed herself from behind a white curtain. "I would like it if you wouldn't disturb my patient." she whispered to me. "Fine but you have to admit that he is cute and adorable with the pup." I whispered back and she gave me a small smile and nodded. "Anyways I brought food for them," I pointed to the sleeping pair "and I wanted to see how the fox was doing." I finished and watched as Anna nodded and motion for me to follow her behind the curtain. "You can set the plate of food on the counter and you might as well take a seat since our guest and the pup won't be waking up for a while." she told me and I nodded. Setting the plate of food on a nearby counter, I sat down on a black stool and watched as Anna typed away at her com

I raised my paw and swatted at the pup who let go of my tail before attacking it once more and giving me a playful growl. I smiled inwardly at the pup and faked defeat, allowing the pup to openly nip and growl at my tail. I laid on my side and set my head down on top of my paws. I flicked my ears towards the ongoing conversation between Anna and my mate. "Are you absolutely sure that you'll be able to handle two pups and an injured fox shifter?" she asked with a sigh and I could only guess that my mate was nodding before saying, "Yes, I'm absolutely sure but it would be nice if he would at least shift before you left so that way you could check his eyes." he said his voice a bit disappointed and sad. Their conversation went on about the subject of me shifting before I closed out their voices and closed my eyelids, retreating to a part of my mind that I had not visited in a while. It was pitch black but in a single beam of light the form of a white fox laid down. It was

19 - Nathan

For the past hour, Anna and I had been talking. We had been talking about what I should feed the pups and how to keep them separate if they begin to fight with one another. We had also discussed the situation with the fox and what I should be giving him when he and the pups come to stay with me for the next week or so. Our discussion about him was cut short by the loud whining of what I assumed was the pup. Spinning around in my chair I looked at the bed and noticed that the pup was pawing at the foxes nose, whining for him to open his eyes. I looked at Anna with curiosity and she shrugged her shoulders before getting up from her chair and going over to the pup. The pup was still whining and began to squirm when Anna picked her up and walked towards me with her. She handed me the squirming pup before sitting back down in her chair. I looked at the whining pup and asked, "What's wrong little one?" the pup stopped whining to look at me and then to look over at the sleepin
