AroI listened with quiet suspicion as the self-proclaimed King of the Spirit clan detailed the murders that had happened across four of the kingdoms. He was adamant that a hybrid was to blame, but none of my archivists had ever mentioned coming across information about hybrids as they catalogued and scanned our ancient texts into the computer system. None of what he was telling us made any sense.

AroWe had expected the murder of Celeste's sister to be what kicked everything into motion. Instead, everything had gone suspiciously quiet. I had been pressing the seer for the last week for something, anything, that could tell us what to expect next. She had been all but useless, claiming her sight was blocked by some outside force.

MiriamI left Aro's office feeling a little lighter. I knew he would make me pay for my little game later, but he desperately needed some stress relief. After the first verified vampire attack, the kingdoms had gone quiet. We had thought our unknown assailant was making their move, instead they had been toying with us.

Aro I was surprised when the young Earth Prince, Adam, ordered his mother out of the room. She had berated me for my inappropriate act in the meeting as soon as I had entered. She had a point, her son was barely eighteen, and Miriam's little game hadn't exactly bee appropriate for a meeting over attacks in the kingdoms. The prince, however, had wanted to congratulate me.
