Cassius set the plate down in front of her before sliding into the chair across from her, his steely eyes not once leaving her. He was watching her with quiet curiosity as she finally looked down at her breakfast.Honestly, it looked delicious. She noticed immediately that everything was cut up already for her so tha

Chapter 33

Loud.Everything was suddenly so loud. The thunk, thunk of the water hitting the bottom of the basin as it dripped from the tap was almost deafening and the chatter of the refrigerator was triple its usual volume. There was a low hum all around her as if she could hear the electricity within the walls. Hell, she eve

Chapter 34

The next week was one of the weirdest of  Izzie's life. Her heightened senses had disappeared the morning after she had acquired them and her shoulder healed in precisely four days. Cassius had even been there to help her carefully remove the sling just in case. She had full movement back in her arm and if anything it felt a little stronger than it had before. The first shower she had had been absolute bliss and the ability to actually put on her clothes was something she wouldn't take for granted ever again.

It must have only been half an hour since sunset when Cassius came crashing through the door, his gaze zeroing in on Jake. Jake had been sat beside her watching TV and had his arm around her which definitely hadn't helped matters. As soon as Cassius had arrived Jake had leapt from his seat and into a defensive position, preparing himself for the inevitable. Even though Jake was a seasoned slayer Izzie saw the flash of fear in his face before he e

Chapter 39

"So do you think he'll buy the early recovery story?" Jake asked while stretching out across the couch.Jake had stayed over the past two nights that Cassius had been away, which Cassius would probably flip out about if he found out. It was a surprise that the two of them hadn't started sprouting given that they had been nothing but couch potatoes for the past two days, getting up only for, snacks, bathroom breaks and bedtime. It was really unlike them to be so lazy, but it had felt necessary.

Chapter 40

“Ahhh! I love this song!” Izzie screamed to Jake, throwing back her fourth?... fifth?.. maybe eighth? shot. She grabbed Jake’s hand, dragging him through the throng of people to the centre of the neon, chequered dance floor. She ran her fingers out through her long brown hair, as her body began to sway to the beat. Bodies gyrated every which way as the squares on the floor below them lit up different shades of purple, bathing everyone periodically in its light and giving a sensual feel to the dance floor. Izzie felt good as
