When I opened my eyes again, I was dressed in pajamas covered in tulips print. I was in my luxury childhood bedroom.

I looked out the window. My father had parked the car in the garden, which was rare. My excited mother rushed toward the car when the car door opened.

She started sobbing, overwhelmed by the emotions of reuniting with her daughter that went missing for a couple of decades.

However, the teenage girl in my mother’s arms seemed to be oblivious to that. She looked up and sized me up with her dark eyes.

Lynn Grant had returned home.

In my last life, I pitied her for having to live in a small village for almost twenty years after being kidnapped. Hence, I let her have her way. However, she seduced my fiance and tricked me onto a train that sent me to a small village.

At that time, I was already seven months pregnant.

Because of what she had said, my in-laws did not visit me at all.

I could only believe William and follow him to the outskirts to live with his relatives.

However, he brought me to a wrinkly old man instead.

The house was run-down, dark, and covered in spider webs.

The old man was afraid that I would escape, so he put a dog collar around my neck.

However, I had just given birth. How could I have the energy to escape?

I could only look at William helplessly. I no longer had tears to cry.

“Where is our son? Did you sell him?”

My blood had soaked the train seats because of a premature delivery.

It was only after a lot of difficulty that I finally gave birth to our tiny son.

The King family cared about their offsprings, so I believed I would be able to marry William after giving him a son.

I did not expect him to sell me to the old man for merely two thousand dollars! He laughed at me and said that I was not the real daughter of the Grant family, so my son was a love child!

“Why would I want your son? I want Lynn to have my son instead!”

It was only then that I knew that my identity as the adopted daughter of the Grant family meant nothing to him. I could be easily discarded like an empty drink bottle.

I grabbed onto William’s thigh as I begged him to not leave me at the old man’s place.

I pleaded, “I can give you all my savings! I’ll cut ties with the Grant family when I go back. Please, for old time’s sake, take me with you!”

However, William replied with something that made my blood run cold.

“It was the Grant family’s idea to sell you off!”

I felt my body go ice cold. I had become the old man’s plaything. He said that if he was not poor, he would not have purchased me who had already given birth. He told me to give birth to a daughter so he would have someone to fool around with when she got older. I was drenched in cold sweat. I knew that if he did not die, my life would be a living hell. My fingernails that used to flip musical scores were all broken. I clenched my teeth and used all my might to strangle the old man. However, I got slapped in return. He stepped on my abdomen and beat me with all he had. He cursed me for being disobedient and invited all the other single men in the village to his place. I was terrified and cursed them all to burn in hell. Days passed as my attempts to kill myself failed continuously. I was slowly going insane. Finally, my bodyguard appeared. He always looked so serious. He brought the police with him. He also sent me to a mental hospital. I did not know what

Lynn’s expression changed when she heard the melody. She charged forward and grabbed my collar before she started to hit me. My mother was shocked. She did not expect her long-lost daughter to be a savage. My father rushed over and stopped Lynn. It was only then that Lynn calmed down. She looked guilty as she hung her head and apologized to my parents. A hint of disappointment flashed across my mother’s eyes when she looked at me, who was playing the piano, and then at Lynn. I did not stop playing the familiar piece. My parents did not know why Lynn had such a sudden breakdown. However, I knew the reason why. There was not much entertainment in the village. In the evening, the speakers would play a piano tune to indicate that it was nighttime and everyone should go home. Then, moaning could be heard from each house. At Lynn’s age, she could already be a mother in the village. Hence, she was frightened when she heard that melody. It transported her back to her

William, the husband that my parents approved for me and my boyfriend, was asked to serve Lynn some food. He glanced at my expressionless face as he hesitantly served a chicken drumstick to Lynn. He said carefully with a charming smile on his face, “Lynn, you should try this tasty drumstick…”Lynn took a bite obediently and smiled sweetly at William. “It’s yummy! I also want…”My father wanted to say something, but my mother stopped him.She served the other chicken drumstick to Lynn. Without looking up, my mother said, “You don’t have to worry about Harper. She prefers seafood. It’s all yours.” It was then that I noticed there was not a single seafood dish. There was not even a vegetarian dish. Lynn had to love to eat meat. That made sense. In the village, she could only have meat when it was the new year. She would have never had two chicken drumsticks in a single meal. Looking at the meat feast, I felt a little nauseated. I covered my mouth and left the dining

Lynn got drunk and started acting out. No one could stop her. William could not stand the sight and carried her up the stairs. My father sighed in disapproval, but my mother held him back while mumbling something to him. They had waited for Lynn’s return for too long. When William wanted to take his leave, my mother told him to stay because it was too dangerous to drive at night. “Just stay in the guestroom tonight. After all, you’re our future son-in-law.” She then patted his hand. William seemed to understand her meaning, and he gestured that he would come find me later. Why would I let him do that? He had fooled me in my last life and sold me off to an old man for just two thousand dollars. He had also kicked my abdomen despite hearing my pleas. My heart tugged in pain when I recalled that. I was going to give him and Lynn a big gift tonight. I turned around and switched off the main power plug. The house that had never experienced a black-out was now in comp

My fingernails were covered in black mud, and it was hard to wipe them clean. Even if I exposed the two now, they would not be embarrassed. My mother might even praise William for having the ability to tell the difference between the princess and the pauper!I gave Joe Anderson an address, and he immediately disappeared into the darkness. Joe was my bodyguard. When my father saw everyone else get a bodyguard, he hired one for me too. I did not expect him to be the only loyal one out of the entire family. The night ended as the sun rose. It was time. I walked back into the living room when my parents were already having breakfast. They were a little shocked to see me. “Harper, why aren’t you asleep?” My mother passed me a cup of tea. “Your hands are so cold. Did you not get a good sleep last night?”How could I get a good night’s sleep knowing my fiance was sleeping with my younger sister? “Lynn has finally found her real parents. The old woman from the village, Mary Bauer, seemed to know something. She dashed to my bedroom on the second floor. Before she could reach the door, William tried to escape from the room. Mary saw that William’s shirt was unbuttoned, and her eyes went wide in anger. She rushed into my bedroom furiously.Inside, she saw Lynn lying in my bed looking satisfied. She screamed and slapped Lynn.“You’re cheating!” Lynn’s eyes went wide in shock when she saw Mary. She grabbed her clothes to cover herself, but Mary slapped her so hard she fell back on the bed.William was overwhelmed with a sense of righteousness and rushed back in to stand in front of Lynn. He grabbed Mary by her clothes and demanded, “Who are you to act like this around here? She’s now the daughter of the Grant family, not a random girl from your village!” “I’m her mother-in-law!” Even though Marry looked poor, she was very confident. Her voice was loud, and she put her hands on her waist. William, who wa

I was expected to be the scapegoat. Yesterday, they were saying how they did not want a daughter to have sex before marriage, but today, they were asking me to take the blame for it. I was extremely angry and picked up a table lamp, then smashed the window into pieces. The lamp got stuck and everyone was shocked. Mary pointed at me with a trembling finger from the windowsill. “What are you doing? If you kill me, the police will arrest you!” I licked my lips, cocked an eyebrow, and slowly inched toward Mary. “Do you see the fish pond down there? Do you know why our fish are huge?” “Why?”Mary did not dare to be too close to me and pulled herself away from me. She looked at my murderous gaze. “Because they eat meat…”As for what type of meat they ate, it was something for her to ponder. Her body trembled, and she fell backwards. With a loud bang, the glass shattered above and fell onto her face and head. The glass shards made small cuts all over her. She yelled

I thought you’re Harper!” A hint of murderousness flashed across my eyes. I had planned to send William Lynn’s way eventually anyway. I broke the silence. “Seems like fate got both of you together, so you can be her fiance instead!” The entire family was shocked when I said that. Lynn’s eyes lit up in anticipation. My mother blinked and accepted my proposal. The Grant family had gone bankrupt. In this world, there would no longer be any rich Grant family. There was only me. After I sent Lynn back to the village, I returned to the city in peace. My father had already made his escape, while my mother was left alone in a small dark house. She saw me standing at the door and sneered. “I thought you didn’t remember that. You’re too good at pretending!” “Only your daughter is foolish enough to forget everything. I remember what happened when I was five.”I was very calm. When I was five, my biological mother sent me to the Grant family and left. The next time I saw her was in the newspapers. The folk singer had committed suicide after failing to become a nun. Then, I saw a new piano at home. Whenever I was at my limits, I would play it. I told myself to hold on a little longer. I did not expect Lynn to ruin the piano on her first day back. In the middle of the night, I tried my best to wipe the piano clean. While do

William walked forward and grabbed Lynn’s small face. “Do you really think we slept together? It was a security guard from the other night. I paid him twice his salary to sleep with you, and you enjoyed it so much…”“What?” Lynn held her tummy and cried. “Security guard? I don’t believe you! I clearly saw your face!” William put on a villainous smile. He then slapped her. “Who do you think you are? Do you think I’d sleep with you? I find you disgusting and dirty!”Lynn started crying harder, then wiped her tears and said, “Don’t you want to marry me? Don’t you want to spend your entire life with me?” “Oh…” When she said that, William seemed to recall something. “Your mother-in-law is a savage. Now, both of my parents are in the ICU. Thanks to you, I finally hold the reins to my family business.” “She’s not my mother-in-law!” Lynn was still in denial. William pointed out the window. “Well, you’ll find out soon enough. We’ll reach the station soon!” Lynn was moment

After Lynn got rich, she started to spend frivolously. She even came to brag about her limited edition branded bag to me. “Harper, we should find a good place for our vacation!” I was not listening to what she was saying. The bodyguard escorted her to the train. It was only after Lynn boarded the train that she felt that something was wrong. She took out her phone to make a call, but I tossed it out of the train window. “The scenery is beautiful. Isn’t it nice to just admire it?” I looked out the window. It was noisy on the train. The bodyguard detained Lynn so she could not move. She was confused when she saw there were fewer trees and more mountains outside the window. She asked nervously, “What’s so nice to look at? The trees are so bare.” “What’s nice to look at?” The village where I lived in my last life had very few trees. One day, a leaf flew in and landed beside my hand, but I could no longer tell what color it was. The sky started to darken, and the surro

My mother had never seen such a vulgar person before. She hid behind me in fear and pointed at Mary. “If you continue to act this way, I’m going to call the police!” Unexpectedly, Mary stood on the chair and took out a marriage certificate and slammed it on the table. She then gestured for his son to kiss Lynn.Even though the large man was not smart, he was physically very strong. He pinned Lynn against the table as the two children started to cry. He kicked the children away and drooled all over Lynn.Lynn could not even scream. “Call the police! Call the police!” my mother shrieked and slammed the door to try and open it. It was only then that the door opened. My father had indeed gone out to make a police report. Mary and her family were taken away. They were cursing on their way out. Lynn put her clothes back on while trembling. She threw herself into my mother’s arms and sobbed. “Don’t let them come out! Sue them!” she said viciously as she grabbed onto my m

You were kidnapped, so you didn’t have the documents to be registered!” My father slammed the table forcefully. Lynn was feeding her children some cakes when she answered in a trembling voice, “I took another person’s identity and their ID. I was afraid that you’ll look down on me, so I didn’t dare to tell you.”The large man’s eyes lit up, and he bowed to my father. He said in a loud voice, “Father!” The two children rushed forward. “Grandpa… grandma…” Looking at her beautiful daughter, then at her two messy children, and the idiotic man bowing down before them, my mother started crying.
