Chapter 6

Lucas changed his suit and returned to the engagement venue.

By then, Kimberly had already finished her makeup. Seeing him arrive late, she playfully took his arm and feigned annoyance.

“Lucas, where have you been?”

Lucas froze, but he quickly regained his composure. “I had to take care of something at the company,” he said nonchalantly.

Kimberly did not notice anything strange about my brother, including the hint of hostility in his eyes. She continued talking about how proud and happy she had been when she greeted the guests.

“By the way, has Veronica arrived yet? I got her a gift!”

My brother froze for a moment before he managed an insincere smile.

“Really?”

“I got you a gift too.”

As the guests all arrived, Kimberly stood proudly on the stage and linked arms with Lucas. She looked like a victorious rooster who was full of herself.

My brother surveyed everything below with a murderous glint in his eyes.

I suddenly felt a chill run down my spine, and uneasiness settled ove
