As soon as I finished speaking, Lynette’s face turned deathly pale. Her lips quivered as she bit down on them, her pupils trembling in panic. She glanced desperately around the room, but no rebuttal came to her lips.

I hadn’t sent her the final revised version yet since she had blocked me after putting my number on her blacklist. Now that I think about it, she probably did that to prevent me from interfering with her fun abroad.

While I was at home staying up all night, fueled by iced Americanos, meticulously revising her proposal, she was abroad, tangled up with Jim in bed.

I couldn’t help but smirk coldly as I watched her pale face. The disdain in my eyes was unmistakable, replacing any lingering affection with nothing but icy contempt.

My words became sharper and heavier as I berated her, “Miss Jones, do you think it’s appropriate to present such a subpar proposal for our first venture into the

I never imagined someone could be this shameless.Frantically, I pulled out my phone to call Jim. Before the call fully connected, Lynette had already rushed in front of me.In the scuffle, my phone slipped and fell into the gap between the couch cushions. I immediately snapped at her, my voice sharp, "You're already carrying his child, and now you're telling me this? Does it even matter anymore? Aren't you worried about your health? Are you that desperate?"I forcefully shook off her hands clinging to my neck.Lynette clearly hadn’t expected me to be this decisive, and a flicker of shock crossed her face, but she quickly composed herself and spoke with determination, “I did this for our family! How could I stand by while you work multiple part-time jobs every day? I couldn’t bear to see you struggle like that. Now that I’ve been promoted, you won’t have to work so hard! I didn’t even know you were the chairman’s son…“If you’d told me earlier, our child would be close to being bo

I ignored him and lowered my head to discuss work with my colleague. After a while, Lynette's figure appeared in the office, only to be stopped by the receptionist.Since she was no longer an employee after being dismissed, she wasn’t allowed to enter the office. She argued with the receptionist for some time, but to no avail.Frustrated, she raised her voice and began publicly cursing Jim, calling him heartless, ungrateful, and vile. The moment her shouting started, all my colleagues simultaneously paused their work. Gossip truly was a universal instinct.I had never seen Lynette behave so brazenly before. Perhaps she didn’t notice me, as her eyes were fixed on Jim’s office while she cursed him with abandon, clutching a hospital pregnancy report in her hand.Several colleagues discreetly raised their phones to capture the scene. Assuming they were just taking photos, I didn’t interfere and sat back to watch the drama unfold. Two minutes later, Jim stormed out of his office, his f

When I saw the messages in the work group chat about our colleagues planning to greet my wife, Lynette, at the airport, I scrambled off the couch in a frenzy. I grabbed the Maybach keys and the villa title deed I had hidden away for a year, planning to surprise her. I wanted to welcome my Mrs. Schumer back home with open arms. I even ordered a novelty bouquet made of fresh banknotes at the florist and hopped into a taxi to rush to the airport. When I arrived, the department head, Jim, was already holding a bouquet of red roses at the arrival gate. A Hermès shopping bag dangled from his arm, and our coworkers had gathered around him, chattering excitedly. They crowded me into the corner.I thought nothing of it at the time as I assumed everyone was celebrating Lynette signing a big contract and getting promoted.Half an hour later, Lynette finally appeared. I barely opened my mouth to call her name before I noticed her flat stomach under her clothes. The smile froze on my face. She

I don’t even remember how I got home. My mind was in a haze as I collapsed onto the couch. All around me were the stuffed toys I had once given to Lynette. The home I had so carefully created for her now seemed to mock my foolishness with every detail.A memory surfaced—her first time stepping into this place. There was no surprise, no delight. If anything, a trace of disappointment flickered in her eyes. She forced a smile and asked, “Zack, is this really going to be our home? Is it even 100 square meters?”Back then, I was drunk on love and dreams of our future together. I couldn’t see her dissatisfaction or sense her indifference. I had simply beamed, saying, “This is our first little nest, full of love. Trust me, it’ll grow bigger and better! I’ll make you the happiest woman in the world!”However, my promise brought no joy to her face. She simply asked coolly, “You just graduated. How are you paying for this place?”Her question froze the smile on my face. I hesitated, then t

I loved her more and cared for her more.By graduation, I told her I wanted to give her a home. I promised to buy a house in full and put it in her name. As she spoke, Lynette pulled her collar up slightly, but it did little to hide the suggestive marks on her neck.I curled my lips into a mocking smile. Before I could say anything, seemingly terrified I might mention our marriage, she hurriedly said to Jim, "I’ll go find a place to clear things up with him. You go ahead and get busy."With that, the two of them shared a lingering, passionate kiss right in front of me. For a moment, I felt so nauseous I nearly vomited up my dinner from two nights ago.Lynette got out of the car, disdainfully pinching my sleeve between two fingers as if it were contaminated. Noticing the unfamiliar fabric, her brows furrowed. "You bought new clothes? Whatever. It doesn’t matter. There are some things you can’t change just by changing your outfit."At the parking garage entrance, she pulled a thick stack of divorce papers out of her bag and slapped them in front of me. "Here. Sign these."Despite our relationship of over a year, she didn’t even spare
