2022-03-13 02:29:13It took a moment for me to realize that my mate was no longer on the t.v. screen, it was only when moms voice spoke that I remembered that I was in a room full of people
"What did you both say?"
I looked around to see everyone watching both me and Acre
"Mate" I whispered
My brain cleared and everything clicked into place, my mate was scared, she needed me so without any more thought I jumped out of my chair only vaguely aware that Acre was doing the same thing.
"What are you both doing?" dad said looking pale
"I have to find her" both me and Acre said at the same time again,
"WHAT?" mom yelled
"Our mates need us" Acre tried to explain with fear in his voice,
"Wait a minute boys," dad said trying to calm us down and be the voice of reason,
"Can we just clarify something, are you both after the same girl or one each?"
"The girl on the left," I say
"the one on the right" Acre says
Grandpa Luke laughs "Thank the moon goddess for that, think of the problems it would have caused if you both wanted the same girl"
"We need to get ready," I say turning to the door
"Bu but you cant, Scott tell them"
"Beautiful, we cant stop them, I would walk heaven and earth to get to you, it will be the same for them",
A voice then comes from the corner of the room
"It is time, I must help the twins, we need to get their mates, we need to bring back the future, we must keep them safe"
We all turn as Queen Lanna steps out of the shadows.
Queen Lanna has been with our family for years, people claim she gets visions of the future and can help in great times of need, my parents included but I just saw a batty old woman without anything special about her, Acre generally felt the same, we used to both spend hours mocking her,
"Wait, what do you mean we need to get them?"
"I shall be travelling with you"
"No your not" Acre giggled
"Yes young man I am, the moon goddess wills it"
"What no, Ocean we are not taking loony Lanna are we?"
before I can reply growls fill the room
"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"
grandma Beth then spat "You two may think that because you have elemental gifts your special, but let me tell you both now that if you insult my good friend again I shall knock your teeth down your throats for you"
"Ok ok sorry," I say then turn to Queen Lanna " we are sorry we didn't mean to insult you but your still not coming",
Dad looks from me and Acre to Queen Lanna before saying
"Do you need to take this journey"
"The moon goddess has willed it"
"And do you feel strong enough?"
"I may be old but I am young at heart and anyway the moon goddess gives me all the strength I need," Queen Lanna says smiling
Dad smiles at her then nods his head then he turns to me and Acre and says
"There you see boys the moon goddess he's willed it so Queen Lanna is going"
"What but no bu but dad"
"Nope no buts shes your travelling companion and let me warn you both, you are going to take good care of her and keep her safe or it won't be just your teeth you lose"
"Fine"
Acre snaps as we both go stomping out of the room and up to our rooms to pack.
"I shall now go and prepare for our journey"
I heard Queen Lanna say as I slammed my door shut.

At 7:30 am I was up, showered and dresses, I wanted to be on my way as quickly as possible, I wasn't surprised when I found Acre already in the kitchen making two bowls of cerial, he handed one to me "Thanks, is Lanna up yet?" Once back at the hotel Lanna heads straight for the shower while Acre and I go to the kitchen to make some coffee and sandwiches. "Well who knew," Acre says chuckling.
