Chapter 2 (Mason's POV)
Damn those leaking pipes.I was forced to move back in with my sister for the near future because someone was messing with pipes in my apartment building.I was going to give her a call in the evening once I get settled in.Technically it was our house, but the only person using it was Becky. There was no use for her to get a new apartment or anything since she was away most of the time and she just needed a space to crash between her model gigs.On the other hand, I bought myself an apartment closer to my job.I was a programmer in a small but uprising firm.It was a good job, it paid well and I did what I loved for a living. So you won't hear me complaining.I was just putting my laptop and all the other equipment on the table when I heard the front door unlocking.I went to greet my sister and let her know my situation."Hey Beck's. I just wanted to let you know I'll be staying here for a few weeks. Some plumbing maintenance is being done in my apartment."But once I rounded the corner I realized my mistake. There in the halway stood a woman sure, but she wasn't my sister. Those curves and long red hair haunted many of my dreams. You know what they say, the things you can't have always seem to be the best. And those were the right words to describe my sister's best friend Rachel Bigsby. But for some reason, she hated me.It has always been like that.I really don't understand it though. She didn't even know me, she only knew what others told her about me, and she just decided to hate me based on those rumors. Now hold on.I am not saying those rumors are not correct. But she should at least see it with her own eyes before she decided to hate me."Universe what did I do to deserve this kind of punishment?"She was looking at the ceiling when she said those words.Sure it could only be my subconscious trying to soothe me but I felt like there was more to the story than just me being in this house.I finally registered that she had a suitcase in one hand and a backpack on her shoulders."Wait. Why do you have a suitcase? Don't tell me you're moving here as well?"She looked my way with pure hatred written all over her face."No shit Sherlock? How did you guess it? I thought you were supposed to be some kind of genius. But guess I was wrong. What are you doing here? Becky said the house was empty and no one would be here."She was really starting to piss me off. It's not like I was trespassing. It was still my house just as much as it was Becky's."I think I've told my reasons already. Some leaking pipes in my apartment. Now if you would be kind enough to tell me what's your reason I would really appreciate it."She was still shooting daggers my way but I wasn't about to back down. After all, she was in my house. And I had every right to know why she was here."Well since you asked so kindly Mason, my life is in a deep shit hole right now. I lost my job, my landlord threw me out of my apartment and my purse was stolen. And the cherry on top is, now I have to live with you. If my day goes any worse I will start thinking about taking some sleeping pills so I can wake up a week or two later. Maybe my bad luck will go away by then."I could see why she was so frustrated. She really didn't have a good day.So I kind of felt sorry for her, but the last part she said ruined everything. She said it, like it was the worst thing possible to share a living space with me."You know what? I don't need this right now. You know where Becky's room is. I will try to avoid you and you do the same. I am gone for half a day anyways so it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe if you decide to be civil, come find me. Otherwise keep that negativity to yourself. People in high school were right. You are a self absorbed selfish bitch. I have no idea what my sister sees in you."With those words I left her standing in the halway and went back to my room to finish unpacking.I also decided to give a call to my sister before my new roomie managed to do so and make me look the ugliest person alive.Becky picked up the phone with her cheerful response as always."Hey big bro. What's going on? I only have a few minutes so be fast please."Me and my sister were close.More like best friends and not siblings. We pretty much told each other everything. And to be honest, I would do anything for her and I am sure she would do the same for me."Hey sis. I just wanted to let you know I'll be using our house for a few weeks because some pipes got damaged in my apartment building."There was a moment of silence before she started speaking really fast, that was a clear sign she was nervous."Mason, is there any other option? I've told Rach she could stay in my room and I know you guys hate each other. I don't want it to be uncomfortable for you guys."She was still in the middle of her word vomit when I interrupted her."Beck, take a deep breath please. Stop worrying. She is here already, she threw her usual insults my way, and we decided to keep to ourselves while we share living quarters ok? It will be fine and I promise I won't strangle her."She finally relaxed and laughed at my words."I'm not worried about you strangling her but the other way around. But ok. I trust you. Just don't be evil to her please. She really pulled the short string today."I knew she cared for her bestie and I could see Rachel really had a bad day so I promised to be good and we ended the call shortly after that. Now let's survive a few weeks with the sexy she-devil.How hard could it be right?Chapter 3 (Rachel's POV)I am sure you are wondering what Mason did to deserve my hatred.Well honestly, he did nothing. At least not to me.But he was a well known playboy that used girls for his entertainment and threw them away once he got tired of them. And that kind of behaviour was simply unacceptable in my book.Yes he was hot. But he knew it and used it to his advantage. He had black hair that was a bit curly at the end and always looked like he just crawled out of his bed.His eyes were green, but not just any green. It was this forest green mixed with something bright.I have no idea how to describe it, but if you looked at him at the right angle it was like his eyes were little shiny emeralds.About his body…I know next to nothing.Sure I knew he was tall but that's it.He always wore baggy clothes and since he was always behind his laptop developing and programming shit, he was probably skinny under all those clothes.Once upon a time I had a crush on him.But that was back
Chapter 4 (Mason's POV)So, here we are.A week has passed already, and surprisingly we managed to not kill each other. But I will be honest with you. Each night since our first night like roomies I had weird dreams.Ok they were not so weird. But they were sure hot as hell and gave me a massive hard on each morning.Thank God Rachel wasn't an early riser as it seems, since I never saw her in the morning. This morning was no different.I woke up from another erotic dreams and I was as hard as a steal. The main star of my dreams was - drum roll please- Rachel.I know, weird right? We couldn't stand each other outside these walls, but still I lusted after her.Fine, it wasn't only in my dreams. But give me a break. It's not my fault she was going around the house in some really short shorts and tank tops that hide close to nothing. She was gorgeous in her casual clothes to be honest. She had naturally red hair-which is much hotter than dyed hair-blue eyes that turned to a nice aqua mari
Chapter 5 (Rachel's POV)I hate him!I hate his words!Hate his body!I! Hate!Him!But damn. That body of his sure is a masterpiece. It must be some kind of sin to hide such a body.Remember how I told you he was probably skinny?Wrong!Who would have thought a geek like Mason could have a body like that?Because watch it, he didn't have a 6 pack, THERE WAS A FREAKING 8 PACK!And those words.Never in my life would I expect a guy like him to have such a dirty mind. And I am ashamed to tell you but he managed to turn me on.Even before he said anything. There sure was a lot of chemistry and passion between us.But there was no chance in hell I would admit it to him.He was still a man whore.Even though when I looked back at our conversation from moments ago he seemed hurt by my words. It's not like I made that up.It was well known knowledge all over the campus when we were in high school and later in college. And that description just stuck with him.Not my fault. But still I could
Chapter 6 (Mason's POV) It was the middle of the night and I woke up because it was too hot for this time of the year especially in London.Once I opened my eyes I realized I wasn't even in my bedroom. What the hell is going on right now? Then it suddenly clicked.I was in Rachel's bedroom. The soft pillows under me should be an obvious sign of that but whatever.Let's blame it on the fact I just woke up.And nke to answer myself and you guys why I was so hot?Because she was wrapped around my body like a little koala bear.Even though we hated each other, I must admit she looked really adorable. But enough with this nonsense. If I stay in her bed until morning she would lose her mind when she finds me next to her.So I had a new mission on the horizon. The mission was: extraction. No judging people! It was a mission and it was a hard one no pun intended.I moved away from her and as soon as I was out of her reach, she started searching for me to cuddle back.Huston! We have a proble
Chapter 7 (Rachel's POV)I woke up with a massive headache and a huge hole in my memory.I had no idea how I got to the bed.Or when.It was all a huge blur. All I could remember was that I had an interview yesterday in the afternoon and that it was a disaster.I had no idea how they knew about what happened in my former company, but it was obvious they knew it all.Well they knew what Mr. Dickson told them at least. But they didn't want to hear even a word of my side of the story. But right now it was too early to think about those things. And my head protested as it was, without me trying to understand some assholes.I moved to the kitchen to get myself a cup of coffee and prayed it would help me with my headache.Once I finally sat down with coffee in front of me, it didn't even smell right to me anymore.I was just thinking where I'd put my painkillers when I heard a door being opened down the hall."Long night roomie?"Well of course it was Mason who else could it be since we li
Chapter 8 (Mason's POV)Yeah ok I was being a dick. But I don't care.It was better this way.I needed to make it clear we were still enemies.Well not really enemies but we did still hate each other. Also I needed to make sure she wouldn't suspect me of doing anything considering her job.First of all it was clear as day that what I was doing was illegal and I could go to prison for hacking into their documents.Especially since her boss was an asshole for smaller things. And if he ever finds out what I did he would make sure I pay for everything. And I had a suspicion my consequences would be far worse than they were for Rachel and every woman that was in that company before her.So back to the topic at hand.It was really important that no one knew about what I was doing. Also I didn't want her to think I developed any feelings towards her and that it was the reason behind my secret operation.Damn it,. That sounds so lame.Let's find a better name for my operation as I call it.Op
Chapter 9 (Rachel's POV)Expression on Mason's face when I told him I got an interview in his company was priceless.I wish I had my phone with me so I could take a picture.Anytime I would feel bad or had a bad day I would just look at that picture and my day would be brighter. But either way. I won't forget that expression any time soon. But what bugged me was the fact I couldn't remember sending an email to a company with that name.Ah who cares.I probably wasn't paying enough attention. But what matters is the fact I got the interview. Now I only have to do good tomorrow and cross my fingers that they give me a chance. As long as they didn't ask about my previous work experiences I was safe. But first things first.I had to find something suitable to wear to my interview.I was halfway through everything I had in the closet when I suddenly came across the perfect combination. It was my best pair of jeans that fit my body like a glove. It was plain jeans, but when you take a close
Chapter 10 (Mason's POV) I was on my way home from work. It's been a day full of surprises for sure. First, some asshole tried to hack into our system so we had to block his attempts, the coffee machine broke down, so we had to make it the old fashioned way. But surprise, surprise. There was no coffee in the whole building because no one made it anymore. It's been years since someone last used the kitchen we had in our company. But the good thing is I survived and was done for today. Now my head was full of thoughts about Rachel. How did her interview go? I wasn't sure if I wanted it to go good or bad. On one hand, I really wanted her to get a job. Not just because she would move out but because she deserved it. Her last boss was a total asshole that only saw her outside but didn't care about her smartness or drive. But on the other hand I wanted her to fail. After all she had an interview in my company, and if she got the job, that would mean, when she moves out, I woul
BONUS SCENE *********Since we started with Rachel and Mason I thought it would only be fair to end our journey with them as well don't you think? :) but let's see it like this. They have a daughter and a sister…what do you think those two are up to a decade or two later??*********Rachel and Mason 25 years into marriage "Mom! Mila is coming by to get me in a few minutes! Can you tell your son to leave me alone so I can get ready?"I chuckled at my daughter. She was almost 26 years old but Harry still tries to be the overprotective brother even though she just wants him to leave her alone so she can find a boyfriend. But to her disappointment, Mason encourages his son and even helps him whenever a boy comes around our house.Well too bad for them. Rebecka is my daughter through and through. Her sassy side, her looks, everything. "Mason, can you please for once tell Harry to go out with his own friends? You know I want grandbabies at some point."Mason was sitting right next to me a
Epilogue A FEW YEARS LATER Vicky's POV "Sid! Come downstairs and bring your brothers with you please, dad will be home any minute!""Okay, mom!"As you can see, Sidney is still the perfect child even at 21 years. The same could not be said for her brothers. Only 6 months after our reunion Devin proposed and of course, I accepted without hesitation. We got married a month later and our wedding was a smaller ceremony because we were in a hurry. I was pregnant. A few months later we got the news that there were two babies, not one. And add some more months and we got two little boys who looked exactly like their father and even now, at almost 7 years they are the spitting image of Devin. And not just in looks either. They have his mischievous character as well. But I can't say I regret anything. I love my family just the way it is.A few minutes later our children rush from upstairs and immediately start to help me prepare the table for dinner.Devin still runs the organization but now
Chapter 16 (Devin's POV)GUYS! I have a daughter!Almost a grown up daughter. When I first saw her standing next to Vicky I didn't even realize little details that pointed towards me being her father. What I saw was only that she was the spitting image of her mother, except for her hair color. I now realized it was the same as mine. The anger I felt was boiling and I was barely holding back my sarcasm when I asked Vicky who Sidney's father was. Until she brought me back to reality by telling me to take a closer look. And like I said, that's when little details started to pop out. Her eyes, her dimpled smile, and when I looked a bit closer the dead giveaway sign was staring back at me. A perfect replica of my mole, in the same spot where mine was.And when she stopped forward to shake my hand, my legs gave way and I was on my knees. There were only two persons that would ever be able to bring me to this position and in such a vulnerable state. One was the love of my life and the other
Chapter 15 (Vicky's POV)A FEW DAYS LATER Okay. A little help would be nice right now.How do you explain to your 15-year-old daughter that her father was actually alive and even in the same town as you two are living in?I guess there is no instruction or even a nice way. You just need to pull off the band-aid.Let's do this."Sidney! Honey! Can you please come here for a moment?"When I say my hands were sweating and shaking like a leaf in the wind I am not exaggerating at all.Sidney was pretty much the perfect child. Well except for her stubborn moments, I guess. But mostly she doesn't argue with me, she does what she's told to do, and does well in school. I've never even been called to school for any kind of problem. But I guess we could describe this news as a bomb being thrown at her already unstable life. But she deserved to know the truth and have a chance to choose whether she wanted to meet her fathers and have a relationship with him or not, and most of all, Devin deserve
Chapter 14 (Devin's POV)A few hours earlier. The time has come.I needed to make sure, my brother doesn't get married to that conniving bitch. And the only way to do that was if I came back into the land of the living. It was just me, my mother, and Gabriel going to the wedding that would never ever happen if I had a say.As we approached the hotel where it would all be held I spotted the devil's spawn right away and did everything in my power to avoid her.But then out of nowhere, a man approached us.He was vaguely familiar to me, but I couldn't put a name to his face right away."Me., Mrs., could I ask you to accompany me please?"As he spoke it struck me."You are Mason right?"He looked at me like a second head was growing on my shoulders."I won't even ask how you know my name because I have a feeling I wouldn't like the answer. So yes. My name is Mason."I gave him a nod and motioned for him that we would follow him. Before we went upstairs though I gave Gabriel an order to st
Chapter 13 (Vicky's POV)WE ARE GETTING CLOSER….Well, I guess we need to do some catching up.So here are the things you missed. My best friend Aron finally met his soulmate and he could not be happier. And honestly, she is the perfect match for him.I still remember the day when he brought her into my restaurant for the first time.Me being me I gave him crap and tried to make him look as bad as possible in front of Becky, but what my stories did was the opposite. It made her like him even more and in the process, made me like her even more. I saw it there and then, that they were perfect for each other. Of course, those two idiots needed a few more weeks before they came to the same conclusion. Also, Aron's mother tried to ruin everything good in between and she almost succeeded. Thank God Aron pulled his head out of his ass just in time and got Becky back with a grand gesture that I might have had a hand in.Before them, though there was Mason and Rachel, now that's a bit more com
Chapter 12 (Devin's POV)"How are things with businesses Gabriel? Any resistance left from owners to go to legal ways?"I was sitting in my office with my right-hand man Gabriel sitting right next to me."No man. We took care of everything so now every last one of our previous businesses is put on legal ground."That was news I loved to hear.Since I took over the mafia I have done everything to put us on the map as legal business owners and so far I've been doing a good job, and it was all thanks to Gabriel and Macy and all their support and help. Also my mother. She was working with Macy in one of our smaller companies. Its main production was make-up and everything related to it.So it could one day easily cooperate with my family's business which I hope goes as predicted into my brother's hands before we come clean about us being alive. There were still more things to be discussed but for the next few topics I needed to make sure the room was safe."Are we safe here?"Gabriel didn
Chapter 11 (Vicky's POV)A few years later"Sidney! Hurry up pumpkin! Nana will be here any minute!"It was one of our usual Monday mornings.Sidney was a heavy sleeper and that girl loved her sleep. So when I managed to wake her up in the mornings I didn't expect any good mood from her. At least not before noon. She was already 10 years old and she was a pain in my ass.I love her wholeheartedly but where she was a spitting image of me in the looks, she was her father's daughter characteristically. Stubborn, sassy, and has a wicked sense of humor already. "I am coming, mom! Why don't you take me to school? And why don't we ever spend the afternoon outside?"Here we go again."Sidney. I've told you. I have my restaurant to take care of and whether you like it or not your identity should be kept a secret. Your father came from a wealthy family and people hurt others when money is in the game. And I made a promise the day I gave birth to you…""I know, I know. That you would never let
Chapter 10 (Devin's POV)You know that feeling in your stomach that's telling you something important is going on somewhere but you have no idea what it could be?Well, this feeling has been bugging me the whole day long already. My life in general is starting to get better.I am waiting for Gabrial to arrive so we can take the report up to the boss's office. Thank God recently there was only legal business to take care of. Oh right. I am the boss's right hand alongside Gabriel and I must admit we make quite a good team. There was still no trace of Vicky or her whereabouts. I started to suspect someone from inside the organization didn't want me to find her. So while I was waiting for Gabriel I went through everything I knew about Vicky so far. And sadly it wasn't much.I was completely engrossed in my data and didn't even realize Gabriel walked up to me. A deadly mistake if it was someone else. Someone from the rival gangs around London perhaps."Didn't I tell you to drop this issue
