"You should have kept your curiosity at bay, Ava, now you are in danger." Ava turned her neck to meet the eyes Of the person who spoke.

"H–ow did you get here?" She questioned the panic, the door was locked and she didn't see it open, and nobody was in the room.

"I think you already know the answer, Ava," Simon said to her, causing her eyes to broaden.

"You–you are ancient too?" She pointed her fragile forefinger to him, although she was tied, her hand wasn't.

"No, I'm not." He replied calmly, "I'm different."

"What are you?"

"You don't need to know that, you're in a lot of trouble already." He told her.

She didn't know what more to say. A week ago, she knew nothing about the ancients or that they actually exist, only in books and stories though, but here she was, learning that their king was ancient.
