Chapter 70

Jennifer balled her hands into fists, feeling both angry and disappointed. She could understand Jocelyn and Bridget's hatred toward her, but why was her own grandmother pushing her into the wolves' den?

Jennifer sneered and said to Agnes, "Should I be addressing my father as my cousin's husband then? I'll marry this man if my father agrees to it!"

"How dare you?" Agnes slammed her hand on the coffee table and exclaimed, "All you talk about is your father, but do you even have any respect for me? Your father respects me the most, and so he still has to listen to my instructions! Don't you dare try and pressure me with him!"

Right when Agnes was in the middle of shouting, one of the house staff came over and reported, "Mrs. Yale Senior, your guest has arrived."

Agnes quickly composed herself and said, "Hurry up and show him in then."

Jennifer never expected them to be so impatient as to have invited the sleazy old man over right away. How could she just sit there and let this go on?
