The unexpected visit

Days after…

Valeria's decision was imminent. After long nights of reflection, she finally accepted Guillermo's invitation to live in the mansion. Valeria settled into her new room, since they had both decided not to share it until they got to know each other better and were sure about taking the next step.

Although they desired each other, both Guillermo and Valeria knew that it was an important step. For him, it meant respecting the memory of his late wife. For Valeria, it was the weight of the secret she kept, a secret she was afraid to reveal for fear of Guillermo's reaction.

As the days went by, and with Valeria now living in the mansion, little Laura became more attached to her, which made Guillermo very happy and he fell more in love with her every day.

One night Valeria went down to the kitchen, she couldn't sleep, there were moments when her secret tormented her, she felt that she could no longer continue hiding from Guillermo who she really was.

She decided to make herself some tea, to see if that would help her fall asleep. But she hadn't counted on Guillermo, who unexpectedly came into the kitchen and, seeing her in that nightgown that showed off her beautiful figure, couldn't help but throw himself on top of her and kiss her.

She let herself be carried away by Guillermo's kisses, she wanted it too. But a tear ran down her face at that moment, she felt that it was the opportunity to tell Guillermo the whole truth. To tell him that she was the woman who had sold the egg at the fertilization clinic and that Laura was his daughter.

But when Valeria tried to tell Guillermo the truth, he kissed her with more passion.

—Guillermo, my love, I need to tell you something. —He kissed her more intensely without letting her speak. He only managed to tell her in whispers, brushing her lips: —I want to make love to you, I want you to be mine.

Guillermo picked her up and carried her in his arms to his room, the same one he had shared with his late wife for years.

Valeria gave herself over to love, she let herself go without thinking of the consequences. Guillermo loved her with all his passion until dawn.

Valeria and Guillermo woke up together, wrapped in the warmth of the morning. The sunlight filtered softly through the curtains, illuminating their faces. Guillermo looked at her tenderly and stroked her hair.

—Good morning, my love —he said, with a smile.

Valeria tried to smile, but the weight of her secret continued to weigh on her heart. She knew she could not continue to hide the truth any longer. She decided that today, after breakfast, she would tell Guillermo everything.

While they were having breakfast, little Laura joined them, running towards Valeria and hugging her tightly. Guillermo watched the scene with a mixture of love and curiosity.

—Valeria, is there something you want to tell me? —Guillermo asked, noticing the tension on her face.

Valeria took a deep breath and took Guillermo's hand.

—Yes, Guillermo. There is something very important I need to tell you. It's about Laura and me.

Guillermo looked at her strangely, he didn't understand what she meant:

—But what's wrong, honey?

Valeria's heart was beating fast, but it was not the time to speak in front of the girl, but when she was about to tell her to go talk in the room alone, the maid came to the dining room interrupting:

—Mr. Martinez, excuse me for interrupting you, but Miss Laura's aunt has arrived. She's in the living room.

William put on a somewhat serious expression, as if he didn't like what the maid had told him.

—Thank you, please tell her to wait and I'll be with her soon.

Valeria didn't know who it was until little Laura said excitedly:

—It's Aunt Natalia! I'm sure she brought me a gift.

Valeria asked: —Laura's aunt?

—Yes, she is Isabel's sister, Laurita's mother.

For Valeria it was unexpected news, every time she was about to tell Guillermo the truth, something happened.

(…)

Minutes later…

Valeria felt a knot in her stomach. She didn't know that the sister of Guillermo's late wife was coming to visit. When she arrived at the living room with Guillermo and Laura, she found an elegant and attractive woman, with an air of sophistication and power.

Natalia greeted Guillermo with a kiss on the cheek very close to his mouth, which greatly bothered Valeria. She greeted her niece and then looked at Valeria strangely while saying:

—Hi, I’m Natalia. And you are…? —she said, extending her hand.

—I am…—but before Valeria could say anything, little Laura stepped forward:

"She's my nanny." Guillermo remained silent, because he didn't want to tell Natalia what was going on between them. He knew her very well and he knew that if she found out that he had decided to continue with his life after Isabel's death, it would cause a scandal.

Natalia, upon hearing that it was the nanny, looked her up and down and said contemptuously:

—Hi, so you're the babysitter.

Guillermo immediately intervened, trying to prevent him from saying anything that might upset Valeria:

—And what brings you here, Natalia? You didn't tell me you were coming.

"I've come to visit my niece Laura and my favorite brother-in-law," Isabel replied, with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.

—Well, you are always welcome in this house. I just wish you had let me know in advance so I could welcome you as you deserve. But, I will immediately reserve the best suite at the hotel where you usually stay. —Guillermo said, taking the cell phone, but to his surprise, Natalia answered:

—No, brother-in-law, this time I'm not here to stay in a hotel. I want to stay here at your house to be closer to my niece. Well, if you don't mind, of course.

Both Guillermo and Valeria looked at each other, the discomfort was visible between them, however, like a true gentleman, he answered:

—Of course, I already told you that you are always welcome, it's just that you took me by surprise, because whenever you visited us, you liked to stay in a hotel.

—Yes, you are right, dear brother-in-law, but that was before when my sister Isabel was alive. You know that she and I did not get along very well. However, I feel that now my niece Laura needs me and that is why I decided to stay with her for a while.

"A season?" he said in surprise.

—Yes, I hope that doesn't bother you. Because even though my sister is no longer here, we are still family.

Things were starting to get complicated for Valeria, because Natalia's intentions were very clear. She had always been in love with Guillermo, and that was why she didn't get along very well with her sister Isabel. And now that she had passed away, she thought she had a clear path to conquer him, taking advantage of the fact that he could be vulnerable due to Isabel's absence, and she was going to do everything possible to fill that void.

But what he didn't count on was the presence of Valeria, who, just by looking at her, he knew was a very strong rival.

—Well, that being the case, I'll send you to prepare the guest room right away. Come with me, Laura. —Guillermo said, taking his little daughter by the hand.

When Guillermo left the room, Natalia was left alone with Valeria.

—And how long have you been working here as a nanny?

"I've been waiting for several months," he replied seriously.

Natalia walked around Valeria, observing her closely, the tension between them was palpable.

—That's great! I see you get along very well with Guillermo.

Valeria sighed, because she was aware that it was not appropriate to tell him about the relationship they had. She thought that it was something that only Guillermo was responsible for. So she simply answered:

—Yes, I got along very well with him and little Laura.

—Well, I think that with me here, it won't be necessary for you to continue as my niece's nanny. She needs the love of her real family, and I'm willing to stay with her as long as necessary.

Valeria clenched her fists, feeling helpless for not being able to shout in her face that she was Laura's real mother and the only one who had the right to be with her.

But at that moment William arrived again:

—The guest room is ready, it's the one downstairs, you can move in there.

—What? But the best room is the one upstairs, next to yours. Can't I use that one? It's the one with the best view of the pool.

Guillermo became a little nervous, but he was not willing to let Natalia mess up his life after having found peace and love with Valeria; and with a firm voice he answered:

—Valeria is occupying that room. —Natalia put on an expression of annoyance that she couldn't hide.

—What? The nanny is living in this house?

There was a silence....
