Legora, the largest capital city in the world. Once one of nine, now there are four. We had lost five cities in the great calamity. Creatures from god knows where poured in from a tear in the earth. A dimensional tear in space and time the scientists called it, but really who the fuck knows? All I know is they were bigger, stronger, looked nothing like us and they outnumbered us hundred to one. An overwhelming amount of refugees flooded the other cities, telling tall tales of heroes rising and taking on four to six creatures at a time. they fought them off while the rest escaped. Delusions, false hope, call it whatever you want we all knew nothing was coming to save us. We sharpened our swords and barricade our homes. The creatures would find us, just like they found all the other cities.

Chapter 1

Chapter 1 Ezra A convocation is called every four months to assess our standing in this never-ending war, the top-ranked hunters were expected to attend and unfortunately that included me. Guess these fuckers didn’t want to have to repeat anything, god forbid they did more than they needed to. The auditorium was packed full of ambassadors, city leaders, elders and hunters. Here, we made the hard decisions. Making sure cities and surrounding towns were protected, supplied and provided with whatever else they needed. Towns outside city borders were necessary for farming and agriculture, without them the cities would starve. The number of hunters has grown exponentially since the first rising. By that time we had already lost two cities to the waves of creatures. With only five very young and inexperienced hunters, another two cities fell quickly. We were barely able to hold back the creatures on our first wave, we kept them a bay long enough for the survivors that were able, to esca

Chapter 2

Chapter 2 Ryker I grab Liam by the shoulder halting his actions, “I’ll take care of it.” I stroll up to the female and stare her down waiting for any inkling of weakness from her. Her reception has been anything but welcoming and this would only be the beginning. Nothing, I do not pick up so much as an increase in heartbeat. Her resolve is rock solid, and she proves me right, a fact that greatly pleases me. The moment she stepped in I feared for her, but then when her gaze didn’t falter from Ezra’s death glare, I pinned for her. The faded hope within me came aflame once again and she was the spark that ignited that flame. I will be her support and protection if no other will. I thought that this may be divine intervention, an attempt to correct an injustice. My trusted aid Morris approaches and greets me with a downwards nod of the head, a sign of respect to higher-ranked Hunters. Miss Alessia is our first female Hunter, she is a new recruit. Take her to work in the cells and have

Chapter 3 Ryker Astonishment. It is the only word my mind can conjure at the sight I see before me. Clean men working away in the kitchens. Each performing their own task to perfection and my god it smells divine. Others working around cooks washing clothing and linen with practised perfection. It is orderly and I do not think our raids run this smoothly. Not a single one of the men stop to pay me attention, they are at the task and their devotion to it is unrivalled. I am ashamed to have claimed I command respect seeing all this, then again maybe she commands fear. Fear that the torture will return. “Where is she?” I ask Morris still admiring the comical sight of bulking young boys cooking and washing. Doing women’s work without complaint, our top ranks would lose consciousness at the scene. “She is always last to train, when we are all exhausted she continues. Some of the instructors have asked her aid in sword fighting.” “If not training then she is clearing her mind.” Kade ap

Chapter 4

Chapter 4 Ryker My face is inches away from hers but she does not back away from the challenge, “And you wished for them to experience the same sense of helplessness. Being lost in a world you know nothing about?” I straighten up, nearly stumbling back, my jaw slack and my eyes bulge from their sockets. She has won. I have nothing. What can I say, we have completely failed these boys. Have we lost all sense of humanity in this never-ending war? She waits a good minute before walking off on her own to the training grounds. I stand perfectly still, consumed by shock although I cannot say the true cause of it. There are two possibilities laid out before me. One, we have failed and we are far more ill-equipped and incompetent than I thought. Two she is everything we lack, she will either raise us all along with her or leave us to fall. Elder Gabriel must have known, he met her before and I doubted she would back down from even him. Then again the man lived in a different era, where men

Chapter 5

Chapter 5 Ezra “Where is he?!” I ask fuming with rage to the first individual I spot, the fear-struck Bronze Hunter points me in the direction of the library and I take off without a word of thanks. I reach the library and shove the double doors open with enough force to cause the solid oak to groan from the impact of hitting the wall. “What the fuck were you thinking?” I ask Ryker who is leisurely enjoying a drink while reading the inside of some blue binder. “Why the fuck is the name of that female on the raid application?!” It had been six months since she first joined the Hunters and I had not seen nor heard a single word about it since. My mind was consumed with images and thoughts of her for weeks after the Convocation, going as far as invading my dreams. Very vivid dreams with her spread out beneath me, face flushed and breathing heavily, I wished I didn’t get such a good look at her. Fuck! I need to calm down. Ryker looks at me through his glass of half empty amber liquid

Chapter 6

Chapter 6EzraIn a final finishing blow, she bends over with hands reaching to untangle her foot from the fabric. I nearly fall to my knees, this time of my own volition, either for the view or to start praying to the goddess before me.She is bent over, legs kept straight and together to reveal a gap between her thighs. The lower she bends to more impatient I get. Then finally she reveals the delicate skin of her lips. My mouth is watering and I have to fight every cell in my body to remain rooted, away from her.My clenched fists draw blood and my mind clears enough for me to recall vocabulary.“What do you think you are doing?” I ask through clenched teeth. She stands tall again and places one foot into the shower. She turns her head to the side but she refuses to look at me.“Showing you everything. Everything you hate, everything you desire and I showed you everything you cannot have.” She steps into the steam created by the shower, disappearing from my view. Shortly after I hea

Chapter 7

Chapter 7 Ezra We have started the raid and so far everything has gone as planned. I have not bothered to look for Alessia, the battle being my primary focus. My temper has been running hot since morning, snapping at every little thing. Slumber did not provide the usual rest and relaxation. I had the worst sleep of my life last night, that fucking woman came to the front of my mind the second I close my eyes. I awoke with my pants pitched in a tent at the dreams that overwhelmed my mind. Seeing her body has been pure restless torture. In my dreams, I see her step under the running water. I see the warm liquid running over her smooth skin, from the top, over her plump lips, between the moulds of her breasts and down the smooth taut skin of her stomach and then… Fuck I need to clear my mind. The raid was centred around the ruins of one of the smaller cities that fell. The city was built in a perfect defensive position. They built the city on top of the flat surface of a mountain, wit

Chapter 8

Chapter 8 Ezra I inch closer to Alessia and the cave before her, I want a better look at what is inside and hate to admit that even in our current predicament I took a moment to appreciate her. My eyes roamed over her perk ass and toned legs, in those tight leather pants it was impossible to miss. She had black leather pants with brown boots that reached knee length. She wore a loosely fitted white short-sleeve top that she forced down with a tight brown leather vest over her chest, shoulder and back, tightened in a corset style in the front. There is no way that this is providing protection, but it certainly is appetizing to gaze at. The leather vest is tightly wrapped around her perfect figure, emphasising the shape of her breast, the dip in her back and the small frame of her waist. The boots are practical and the leather pants made from wyrm skin provided protection, although I am not certain where she found them so tight. The vest looks thin and light but I am unsure of the l

Chapter 9

Chapter 9 Ryker “We need to get her to a Medic”, Matteo rushes to me but stops when Ezra pushes his arm out in front of him, Ezra looks at Alessia before looking to Matteo, “ I am faster.” He states simply before scooping up Alessia and bolting in the direction of camp. Matteo helps me off the ground and steadies me, with my arm over his shoulder and his around my waist, taking on my weight. Matteo takes slow careful steps that irritate me to hell and back,” Can we move this along? She’s badly injured and I would like to hear from the medic, if she will be alright.” Matteo gives me a smug smile before dragging me along with his fast pace. We have yet to reach camp, but we can already hear people running around and several men screaming. Once at camp I thought to ask one of the knights where Ezra went, but soon saw it was unnecessary. The small medic tent surrounded by recruits and the killing aura of Ezra leaking from it tells me all I need to know. Matteo is about to speak and as
