“Treat me to dinner tomorrow night! I’ll choose the restaurant. You treat, but I’m paying!” With that, Tom looked at Abel as if he was explaining something. “See? I didn’t take advantage of your wife!”

Abel did not speak, but instead threw a disdainful look at him.

They had known each other for so many years that Tom knew Abel’s thoughts like the back of his hand.

But his attempt to placate Abel was too obvious. Even Ruth realized the inconsistency. “You’re paying? There’s no such thing as a free meal.”

Tom smiled gently. “We’re all friends! Speaking of which, you’re practically my sister now, but I haven’t even treated you to a proper meal yet!”

“Sister-in-law.” Abel corrected him coldly.

Tom clicked his tongue and pointed at Abel. “Look at him fussing over these superficial things.”

Abel put his arm around Ruth’s shoulders and walked toward the ward. “Let’s go see your grandfather.”

“Alright! Sister-in-law, it is!” Tom quickly stopped the two of them. “I’ll book a restaurant
