Galen contemplated between defending his dignity and saving himself the trouble. After much consideration, he chose the latter.

“On what conditions?”

“It’s weird for you to ask this question. Callum should be the one to ask,” Ruth said with a smile.

Galen was stunned for a moment. “You’re right.”

In the end, Galen did not stay for lunch. He only spoke with Ruth for a while to know her plan and left.

When the sound of the car engine disappeared in the distance, Ruth was still a little puzzled.

“I thought he wanted to stay for lunch.”

“He’s not as thick-skinned as Tom,” Abel casually said.

He put the magazine down and said to Ruth, “Galen suggested you compromise because he thought it would be better for you. He’s not that incompetent.”

Ruth nodded in agreement. “I know. I’ve heard of his way of handling cases.”

Abel cocked an eyebrow in surprise. “You heard about him?”

Ruth explained, “He’s Demi’s brother. She used to tell me stories about him, um, to boast how amazing he is.
