"That's impossible!" Daniel denied that possibility on the spot. At the same time, he turned to look at the bustling dance floor instead of Ryan.

He continued, "If I really liked her, why would I divorce her in the first place? As for the reason why I keep dragging the divorce out—"

The man spun his glass around before leaning over to place it on the table. "Just think about it. News of our divorce has just spread, yet a bunch of suspicious people have already barged into her life. We're still childhood friends at the end of the day. I can't just sit by and let her walk into danger."

Ryan was unhappy with that statement, as proven by his frown. He still had an unlit cigarette between his lips as he said, "I don't care if you slander other people, but why did I get dragged into this mess as well? Are we even best friends at this point?"

Daniel shot Ryan a glance before huffing in response. "It's precisely due to how well I know you that I dragged your name through the mud as well."
