Chapter 23 Pursuing a Divorcée

For a moment, Rebecca was rendered speechless by the suggestion. Still shell-shocked, she started thinking about ways to turn Rachel down politely. "Mrs. Winston, I know you adore me, but—"

"Why are you still calling me that? I'm getting upset now!" Rachel cut into Rebecca's sentence before the latter could even finish speaking.

Then, the older woman continued, "Becca, I know that you resent us for what we've done, but can you please not be so eager to turn me down? We can talk more about the mother-daughter matter once you and Daniel are done with the legal divorce procedures. The thing is, you two have yet to go through the process, so it's not outrageous of me to request you to keep calling me Mom, right?"

Rachel's tone was very soft and held a coaxing quality. One would find it difficult to turn her request down.

However, Rebecca rejected the idea of becoming Rachel's daughter from the bottom of her heart. She decided to remain silent for now.
