Emma somehow managed to convince Avery, and she wore a light blue dress.
Damian was busy being the centre of the party, and everyone was enjoying his music. There was no more place on the dance floor.
“Hey, Avery!” Emmett hugged her. “Good to see you healthy again.”
Avery smiled back. “I like what you're wearing.”
“Thanks, Avery,” Emmett blushed. “You'll come to tomorrow's practice, right?”
“Yeah, of course.”
Avery and Emmett were learning hip-hop and contemporary dance in the same academy. That was how they became friends in a short time. Avery envied him for always keeping a smile and being cheerful. Emmett's phone rang.
“Avery, I have to answer this call. It's my sister. Stay here, okay?” he ruffled her hair and left the gym.
“Look who's here!” A bunch of girls from the Sports Faculty approached her.
“Hey, Julie.” Avery faked a smile.
“Aw, my baby remembered my name. Oh, yeah, because you see me every day! I mean my punches every day!” Julie and her crew burst out laughing.
Avery bit her lower lip and clenched his fists. It was the only thing she kept a secret from Damian. She didn't tell him that Julie was bullying her every day at college and that her stomach was bruised everywhere.
“You look so lost here, Avery. Parties are not your thing, right?” Julie pouted. “Well, let me get things less boring for you.” she approached her and lifted her chin.
“Don't touch me,” Avery muttered coldly.
“You're so cute when you're angry.”
“Julie.”
“I love it when you say my name. But let me see how it will sound when you would scream it later,” she whispered, touching Avery's arms and neck.
“I said, don't touch me!” Avery tried to fight, but Julie was stronger.
“You can't fucking res—” Julie shouted when Avery suddenly kicked her leg and ran away.
“Avery Jones!”
Avery was breathing heavily inside of one of the bathroom stalls. She started feeling dizzy, and things were turning around her. She started seeing things unclearly, and then she only saw white before she fainted.
“Damian, did you see Avery?” Emmett asked. “I went to take a call, but when I came back, she disappeared.”
“I don't know. There are many people here. I couldn't see her.”
“Oh, look who's back! Come here you, bit—!” Julie screamed when Avery pushed her on the floor and kicked her legs again.
“Hello, Julie! It's nice to finally see your ugly face.” Avery smirked.
“What the hell?!” Julie widened his eyes. “Stop him!” she ordered her girls.
Both tried to stop Avery, but she didn't hesitate to punch one of them and kick the other's legs. The three girls were surprised by her unexpected reflex.
“What the fuck?!” Julie shouted.
“You didn't expect me to lose to your minions, right?” Avery asked, pointing mockingly at Julie's girls, Mary and Jasmine.
“Get her!” Julie ordered.
Avery smirked again and avoided their punches.
“What's going on here?” Damian, who let the music on, arrived. He widened his eyes when he saw Avery fighting as if she did it during her whole life. “Avery?” he gulped when he saw the look on her eyes.
It was different. Her eyes looked darker.
“I swear if anyone of you touches this body one more time, I'll make you regret the day of your birth,” Avery said, sending death glares to the three girls on the floor.
Emmett clapped with a surprised face. “Is that our Avery?!”
“I don't know, but whoa!” Damian mumbled, his eyes still wide. “Avery?”
Avery finally turned to face him and raised an eyebrow. “Oh, hey, pretty boy,” she smirked and approached him. “I didn't know we had such a hottie in here.” she bit her lower lip, staring at him from head to toe.
Avery wasn't wrong because Damian looked good. He was wearing black leather pants, a dark grey t-shirt, and a cool necklace. And to finish that, he put a black eyeliner.
“Come here!” Avery said, grabbing Damian by the arms and heading outside the gym.
“Hey! Avery let me go!”
“I can't, my dear,” Avery smirked.
“Avery, is that you? Or Illy? No way, it can't be her.” Damian shook his head, confused.
“Avery? Illy? What ridiculous names!” Avery scoffed. “Seriously who names their daughter like this?”
“Then, who are you?”
“Me?” Avery smirked and ran her fingers in her dark hair. “Scarlett. The one and only,” she said with the most seductive smile.
“D.I.D. Dissociative identity disorder, with more simple words, it's a multiple personality disorder, it's a condition where a person's identity is fragmented into two or more distinct personality states.” the doctor started.
“What should I do, doctor?”
“You're still very young so, even if I ask you to try to fight these personalities and fight your past, I'm afraid you won't be able to do it easily. So, I'm just going to ask you to follow a treatment. I'll prescribe you some pills. Ms Jones, please make sure she takes them every day.”
“Aunty, am I going to die?”
“I still don't understand how you are still alive after all what my brother did.”
“Y—you want me to die too, aunty?”
“I don't know about death, but what I'm sure about is that I want you to disappear from my life. I'm not rich to take care of a mentally sick child.”
“B—but, I don't have a mom. I have no one.”
“I don't care. I don't want to spend my last years wasting all my money on you.”
“Good morning, Emma,” Damian awkwardly waved.
“Good? You're joking, I hope!” Emma rolled her eyes.
“Why? Something happened?” Damian bit his lip, thinking about the new sassy personality.
“Avery was too drunk that she couldn't keep her hands to herself. She even tried to kiss me for god's sake!” Emma was angry. “Don't let her drink anymore.”
“Yeah, sorry,” Damian mumbled.
She wasn't even drunk.
“Anyways, I have to go. Tell Avery that I'm so mad.” Emma said after she left the loft.
“Please, tell me it's Avery today,” Damian mumbled before entering her room, and he was about to scream when he saw her lying fully naked on her bed.
“Holy shit!” he exclaimed. “Avery!”
Avery slowly opened an eye and lazily waved to her best friend. “Morning, Dam, what are you d—”
“Fucking cover yourself first!” Damian shouted, his eyes not leaving the floor, and his cheeks burning like fire.
“Oh my god!” Avery widened her eyes when she realized she wasn't even wearing her panties.
“No!” she quickly covered herself with her blanket and tried to reach the drawers to take new underwear, but it was far from her bed. Damian rolled his eyes and gave her one, making her blush.
“I never knew you slept naked.”
“I never sleep naked, Dam!” Avery protested. “I don't know what happened.”
“So, it must be Scarlett,” Damian sighed.
“Scarlett?!” Avery widened her eyes. “She's back?”
“Is she the one who appeared before?” Avery nodded.
Damian sat on the edge of the bed. “But, wait, Avery. What happened yesterday night? Did someone bully you?”
“Uh, no, nothing.”
“Are you sure? I saw Scarlett giving the best punch I have ever seen!” Damian chuckled.
“What did Julie do?”
“Well, you know how much of an asshole she can be,” Avery nervously rubbed the back of her neck.
“Avery,” Damian sighed.
Avery tensed when she felt the seriousness in Damian's voice.
“It wasn't the first time, right?” he asked.
“Dam, listen—”
“Avery.”
Avery sighed, “Yeah, it wasn't the first,” she mumbled quietly, avoiding Damian's cold gaze.
“That bitch,” Damian clenched his fists. “Why didn't you tell me anything?!”
“I didn't want to bother you, Dam,” Avery bit her lower lip.
Damian frowned and gave Avery the are you fucking kidding me look.
“I'm done with you,” he mumbled. “What am I then if you don't tell me anything? I'm your freaking best friend for goodness sake!” he shouted. “Oh, man, I feel tired now. I wasted too much of my energy today,” he said, putting his hand on the back of his neck.
“Shit! I should go to the library!” Avery tried to change the subject. “I should shower and eat breakfast.”
“Anyways, see you later,” Damian muttered coldly before leaving.
“I wrote a song for you,” Elias shyly gave Emma his notebook.
Before both of them got closer, Elias always watched Emma from afar. He knew that she came to sit alone every day in the faculty of literature's garden to take pictures of flowers and lay on the bench for a while.
Elias always came twenty minutes before her to read his book and have more time to admire her beauty.
One day, Emma looked in a bad mood and started crying. Elias didn't know if he was surprised because he never saw her sad of because she looked gorgeous even with tears covering her eyes.
It was the moment when he felt brave enough to stand up and offer her his handkerchief.
“Thank you,” Emma said, with a shaky voice.
“I don't know what's wrong, but I'm sure nothing deserves your precious tears.” Elias smiled shyly, making her widen her eyes. “W—what's your name?”
“I'm Elias Baker.”
“Emma Grant.” the girl smiled back.
“I know,” Elias blushed. “Here,” he gave her his black mp4. “There are some songs I wrote. I hope you'll like them,” he said before leaving.
“But—!”
“You can give it back to me later!”
“A song for me?!” Emma widened her eyes. She started reading the lyrics and her heart fluttered at each word.
Tears of happiness started covering her angelic face. She stared at Elias, who was looking at her lovingly. “I love it,” she said.
“I don't want to see you cry again, Emma. I'm here now, so I won't let that happen.” Elias whispered.
“I know,” Emma said before hugging Elias tightly, her arms around his neck while he nervously put his around her waist.
Avery was arranging her big psychology books in her locker. The faculties were open even on Sundays during the exams period. She was humming the chorus of a song Damian started writing a year ago.She had to beg him for weeks to let her listen to it. Damian enjoyed being a DJ because people never recognise him on the radio, or in the dark. He wasn't comfortable about sharing his songs, especially the most personal one
After twenty minutes, Damian arrived in front of the club and spotted Avery lying her head on the wall, while Nate was tracing his fingers on her neck.He mumbled cursed and slammed his car door behind him.
After Emma left the loft, Damian cleaned everything as he cursed Avery every time he got the occasion. When he finished, he sat in the living room to check his mails on his laptop. He decided to look for his things the day after because it was already late and cold outside. After a while, he heard Avery talking to someone. He sighed and headed to his room, but stopped in front of the door when he heard her giggling snd talking to someone sweetly through the phone.
“Someone's looking hot here!” Nate whistled when he spotted Avery approaching him.Scarlett doesn't like formalities, so she opened her white shirt, showing off her chest. She also messed up her dark hair to give it asexy look.
Damian dropped his phone on the floor the second she finished the sentence. His heartbeats went insane inside his chest. After a long moment of proceeding and analyzing what Avery said, he cleared his throat and burst out laughing. “You almost got me with this!”“Dam&helli
The next morning, Avery woke up to find an angel sleeping next to her. Light brown hair, red cheeks, thin lips, soft skin…She smiled and got out of the bed, feeling a little pain between her legs. She took a quick shower and went to prepare breakfast. After an hour, Damian woke up to chocolate waffles smell. He widened his eyes and ran to the kitchen.
“I feel much better.” Avery smiled. It was 1 pm and they were still watching a TV program.“Good, now let's sleep,” Damian said before turning down the lights and covering both of them.
Damian choked on his saliva. “Oh please, Ave, not this.” he widened his eyes.“Please, Dam! I need to forget.”“But not this way,
