Chapter Two

I couldn't help but wonder why he would even had dreamt of walking close to me.

But I felt good about it, from the smile on his face I could tell, he meant well.

"Hi" He said to me in a charming voice.

I was still flustered and was feeling embarrassed. I could barely opened my lips to say anything. The only thing I wanted to do, was to run as far from there as possible. But then again, no backing out till I get rejected.

"Hello" He said to me again.

I was lost in my thoughts staring at him. He probably must be thinking I was admiring him. He was good looking no doubt, but me admire him-hell no.

"Hello" I responded to him as soon as I was able to feel my lips.

He kept smiling at me and sat on the desk right in front of me. I tried to let out a forced smile, it looked fake but he wouldn't notice it.

No one could ever tell my fake smile from my real smile, it was one of the many mischievous talents I had.

"Here, you can have it." He said to me as he removed his jacket and gave it to me.

I was stunned for a moment, I wanted to hug him and thanked him, but I got a hold of myself and tried to be formal as I ought to.

Without giving a damn of the other applicants, I took the jacket from him and quickly put it on. There was nothing to even think about as the jacket would help restore my lost confidence. It was what I needed.

The jacket covered me up and it touched my knees. "Gracious" I muttered as I looked as how spontaneous I  looked in an expensive jacket.

"Thank you." I said to him as I sniffed the colon on the jacket.

It was 'Ocean blue' one of the most famous colon. I could tell because back then when I used to work as a bartender, I would sneaked to my boss's office and used his colon, it was same as his.

I raised my head and looked at him, he was staring at his phone. Like he was waiting for something. It definitely would be the interviewer. He was well dressed and looked rich. If someone like him have come for the same job as myself, I doubt I will get a chance.

"What did you apply for?" He asked me.

"Personal assistant to the CEO." I responded to him.

He smirked at my answer and looked away. I became nervous, I thought personal assistant doesn't need to do much. Steven had applied for the position because it didn't require a professional.

"What did you apply for?" I decided to ask him. I was waiting for his reply so I could smirk at him as well.

"Cloud engineer." He said.

I haven't heard such a thing before. Is it a profession, or he was just trying to pull my legs. I was flustered, I never had the money to go for college. I managed to register for some professional courses here and there which made me suitable for the role I applied for.

"Oh, wow, that's great. So you are an engineer?" I asked him in an attempt to get more clue and understanding concerning his profession.

With the way he squinted his eyes at me, I could tell that my question was a foolish one. How was I going to take back my word. It was very embarrassing for me. I was starting to feel a bit okay until I made a fool of myself 'again'.

"Partially, you can say I am an engineer." He answered me.

I started to feel a bit at ease. I really wanted to know what he meant by cloud engineer. But with the way he was smiling I knew he said so because he didn't wanted me to feel awkward.

"What is cloud engineer? What do they do?" I asked him as I gulped down my shame.

He would have just went ahead and explain, I guess he just wanted to make a fool out of me. I can't walk away, I need his jacket.  Having gulped down my pride, I waited for his explanations.

From my expression he would be able to tell how eager I  was to know more about the job.

"Cloud engineers are responsible for researching solutions for moving different functions like database storage to a cloud base system." He replied

'Damn' I muttered.

I had no idea of everything he just said. It was like gibberish to my ears. I was not that educated enough to know about different job profession. The only profession I knew of was the popular ones, like the people in medical fields, engineers, and lawyers. Every other profession always came as a shock to me.

I tried  to hid my confused self from him. I kept smiling at him. His gaze was fixed at me, I could tell he was waiting for my response. I didn't had any, I wanted to avoid saying something that would made me looked any less foolish like I already had.

He looked away when he didn't get a response from me. He looked really brilliant and I admired him. I love it when a man is professional and calm and gentle. He had these qualities.

"Who hasn't received a number yet?" Said a voice  at the front of the hall.

I looked at the person, I had no idea of what he was talking about.

"You haven't received a number." The guy said to me.

Without much thoughts I lifted my hand and yelled

"Me."

The man giving out the number frowned at the sight of me. I didn't wait up for his response, I walked straight to where he was.

As I approached him, a desk clipped with the jacket. I tried to get it off gently, but it wasn't pulling off, I then attempted to pull it off with force and the jacket shred. It was a nightmare, I thought my shame was over.

My jaw dropped at the sight of it, the jacket shred to a point I wouldn't be able to put it on.

"Oh my" I mumbled to myself.

I'm so screwed.
