Chapter Eight

Nymeria

I was about to excuse myself to go and look for Adolph when he came in . He looked like the world just came crashing down . Being a healer, I could sense emotions and his was clogged with sadness and devastation . 

He looked up then gave Nyla a small smile before he walked to his seat . 

Immediately he sat down, a whiff of wolfsbane passed across my nostrils . Why will Adolph smell of wolfsbane after being called to the principal's office?

As usual, the wolfsbane weakened me . As a wolf, wolfsbane was our weakness . It was a poison specially made for us . To weaken us and if taken in in large quantity, kill us .

If Adolph was a wolf, why was the wolfsbane not affecting him ?

I dropped my head on the table to fight the effect of wolfsbane on me . I didn't know when I fell into a vision . 

I was dressed up in jeans and my favorite cashmere sweater . I had a full make up on which was unusual unless I was on a date . Then he held my hand and looked into my eyes . Adolph and me, at the movies . 

He was going to ask me on a date ! I was still celebrating in my head when I heard a loud bang on my table .

' Miss Adonis, Would you like us to excuse you so you can enjoy your sleep better ? ' the teacher said angrily and the whole class laughed . So much for wanting to be a quiet new girl .

I raised my head in embarrassment but faced Adolph to hide my face .

' I'm Sorry ma'am . ' I replied .

She gave me a stern look then turned back to the class .

Adolph gave me a small smile and I turned back facing the class .

My visions had no time they came or who I saw . I could not decide but I knew someone who learnt to control them .

I was about to look for the woman and learn how to control them then we were banished .

I sighed and scribbled some words on my note book .

The class went on and the teacher was about to snap at another student when the bell went off .

Everyone grabbed their books and bags and rushed to the front door .

I quietly put my books in my bag and was about to leave when I noticed I was the last person in class .

I grabbed my bag and walked briskly towards the door .

' Miss Adonis ' the teacher called ( I still don't know her name .)

I stopped and and turned to her .

' I hope you are okay ? ' she asked looking concerned .

I nodded my head and went out of the class .

I was about to go to my locker when I saw Adolph in front of his locker . I walked towards him and tapped him in his shoulder .

' Hey . ' I called softly .

' Hi Nymeria . ' he replied and turned to me smiling .

' Are you okay ? What happened in the principal's office ? ' I asked .

' Nothing much . I just forgot to take my medication . ' he replied, shrugging his shoulders .

' Oh Okay . ' I said quietly .

' Uhm . I wanted to ask you if you would like to go on a movie date with me ? ' he asked .

I already knew he was going to ask but hearing it from his mouth had a different kind of effect .

' There's a ....new movie they just released . ' he rambled on .

' Adolph, I will go on a movie date with you . ' I replied giggling .

' Okay then . I will pick you up by six . '

I nodded and smiled . I drew my bag closer to my side and walked in opposite direction of where he was to my locker .

I dropped my books and headed to the cafeteria for lunch .

Well, I always wanted the forceful seizing of how wolves take their mates . The eyes will meet, sparks then the claiming and the whole shenanigans but human dating felt nice too .

I smiled to myself again as I carried a tray to put my lunch on . 

I took an apple, a box of fries and chicken and a cup of smoothie .

I sat on the table I sat the previous day and quietly ate my lunch .

It was not long before Nyla came to join me but she was not her cheery self .

' Hi Nymeria . ' she said then unceremoniously dropped her tray on the table .

' Nyla, what's wrong ? ' I asked as I dropped the ketchup I was pouring on my fries .

' I did something horrible . Adolph will never forgive me . ' she replied quietly .

' What happened ? ' I asked again .

' I am the reason he forgot his medication . I always give it to him before he comes inside the school . But I didn't ride with him today because I was angry that he was attracted to you and because he was late . ' she explained .

' You are his family . He will forgive you . ' I replied assuring her and choosing to ignore the ' I was angry he was attracted to you part . '

' We are not exactly family . ' she whispered worry etched on her face .

' What do you mean ? ' I asked curiously .

' Nothing you need to worry about . I will just apologise to him after school . ' she replied sharply .

I gave her a look but I didn't say anything .

' Anyways, can I ride with you after school if he doesn't forgive me ? ' she continued digging into her lunch .

' I know he will forgive you but okay . ' I replied and gave her a fake smile .

She nodded and continued eating .

She didn't want to tell me how she was not related to Adolph but I was going to find out myself .

I finished my lunch quickly, said goodbye to her and went to grab my books for the next class .

The rest of the day passed in a blur . It was end of school and time to go home . 

I was at my car pretending to wait for Nyla in case she needed me but at the same time trying to listen to their conversation .

' I'm sorry . I was the reason you forgot your insulin . ' she said then placed her hands on his shoulders . That was not a show of 'cousin' affection . But Adolph did not see it as anything bad .

' It's okay Nyla . I'm fine . I was very late anyways .Can you believe I woke up in the woods ? ' he replied smiling .

He woke up in the woods ? His wolf genes were already taking over but why were they so slow .

' In the woods ? ' Nyla asked her face a mixture of confusion before realization dawned . 

' Yeah . I don't even remember how I got there . ' Adolph continued . 

She looked towards me then jerked her head . Telling me she didn't need my help anymore and she didn't want me to listen to that part of their conversation .

' Let's go . We will talk about it on the way . ' she said as she turned back to him and have him a kiss on his cheek .

My wolf growled . Nyla was not his cousin . She was in love with him . 

I got into my car and drove out of school angrily . I needed to go home to prepare for my date with Adolph but I could not deny how jealous I was and everyone knows how dangerous a jealous she wolf is .
