I was sitting at the kitchen table, sipping on my coffee and brooding over my interaction with Kenton, when Godwin returned.  He kissed me on the top of my head before he headed to the coffee maker to freshen his mug of coffee.

“I’m going to need clean linens,” he said with a jovial tone. “Where are they kept?”

“Can’t you just conjure some?” I asked.

“I could, but with it being this close to the full moon and a potential battle, and with you still in need of a bit more tutoring, I’m wanting to conserve my energy.”

“You get tired too?” I said with surprise.

“Under normal circumstances, no,” he explained, “but these aren’t normal circumstances.  We have vampires coming who’d love nothing more than to drain you dry and a battle with the werewolves to boot.  I’ve engaged in a few battles in my years.  They leave me deple

The day flew by as Cindy and I kept each other occupied telling stories of what we’d been through over the last four weeks. While I was learning to be a fairy, she was receiving very intense lessons in vampirism. Listening to her tell her tale, I was surprised at how complicated being a vampire actually was. Theirs was a life of rules and regulations. She’d been instructed on the correct way to feed. The correct food source. The correct time of day to feed. The correct time of day to go outdoors. The correct way to address a vampire who was fifty years or more older than her. The correct way to walk, talk, dress - and the list went on and on.“It’s a wonder you didn’t go mad with all of those correct ways to do things,” I said.“It’s a lot more complicated than the werewolf world,” she said. “Or, maybe it’s just because I was born into t

As I lay in bed sleeping, I felt my body being lifted into Godwin’s arms. I opened my mouth to speak, but he kissed me quiet as he carried me to his room.He laid me on his freshly made bed and pulled my nightgown off my body with the same care he’d used when undressing me the night before, I worried over what to do. I’d only recently had lesbian sex in my shower and now there was no doubt that I was about to have sex with him.My nipples were sore. Not just from my time with Cindy, but from his attention the night before. I whispered a request that he be gentle and explained that I was sore from the night before. He didn’t stop, but he lightened his attention to a more tolerable level of suckling that actually turned me on.I eagerly arched my hips to accept his hand as he worked to pleasure me. I needed to be taken by him completely and in every way. Perhaps that would wash away the feelin

As I started out of the door, I paused and allowed myself to feel what was going on with my body. Not only did I seem to be in a constant state of horniness, but my body had a type of electric sizzle running through it. The feeling of freedom going commando gave me only emphasized these sensations. I decided that it was best to wear panties. Otherwise, I was certain I’d be pulling Godwin into the nearest corner as soon as I got downstairs.I met Cindy on the mezzanine. To my relief, she made no mention of our shower together as she greeted me a good morning. In fact, she chatted away as she always did as if nothing at all was different between us.When we reached the kitchen, she helped herself to coffee. I was about to refill my cup when Godwin entered the room and pulled me into his arms for a long, sensuous kiss.“Audience over here,” Cindy said as she cleared her throat.“Sorry, b

I couldn’t believe that I’d actually been able to settle down on the top of my bedcovers, after getting dressed in a comfy pair of sweats and a tee shirt, and fall back to sleep after all that had happened, but I did. I assumed it was from all of the alcohol in my system. Or, it could have been from all of the oxytocin that was released into my brain from the torrid number of orgasms that I’d experienced from sex with both Godwin and Cindy. Whatever the reason, I slept like a baby.I awoke to the sound of the fierce howling of wolves outside of the house. Cindy was nowhere to be found, so I raced onto the mezzanine and called out for someone to tell me what was happening.Cindy was wild eyed when she ran from the direction of the kitchen to the bottom of the stairs and looked up at me. “Michael is here. He’s got a small army with him. He’s demanding that they give you and me to him.”

Cindy and I huddled together, partly for warmth and partly for comfort. The nights were cooling down as fall approached us and neither of us were dressed for it. Vampires felt the cold and the heat far less than humans. Out of all of the supernatural creatures, a fairy’s constitution most resembled the constitution of a human. Therefore, I suffered the coolness of the pre-autumn night far more than my companion.“How do you think Kenton’s army is faring against the wolves?” I asked through chattering teeth.“I can’t think about it,” Cindy replied. “I want to say that they’re able to hold their own, but there were so many werewolves outside of your house. I just don’t know. I haven’t been a vampire long enough to really understand what they’re capable of. The wolves will change back when the sun comes up, but they’ll still have the power of the m

I delivered Cindy to the house and watched Kenton take her inside before I continued on to the stable with the horses. I’d asked about Godwin and was told that he was recovering nicely from his attack and should be back to normal very soon, so I took my time tending to the horses. I needed to be alone and think. I’d killed. Taken life. Even though they were beasts who deserved to be punished, the impact of killing them was hitting home. Could I have done something different? Could I have stopped them and punished them in a different way? Was killing them really necessary?I battled within myself for the better part of an hour before Godwin appeared in the doorway of the stable. He wore a look of humility and concern as he asked, “Are you alright?”I nodded. “How about you?”“I’m getting there,” he said with a sigh. We were at war. Just the thought of it was outrageous. While growing up in the Chicago area, I’d never even been in the vicinity of a gang rumble, let alone anything else. Now, after only a few months of leaving an area that ranked in the top twenty-five cities for crime in the USA and moving to what appeared to be a sleepy mountain hamlet wedged between small town USA and a city that was barely large enough to claim the title, not only was I at war, but I was at war with werewolves whose savageness was something the Chicago gangs couldn’t fathom. It was all too surreal.Godwin and I spent the day resting up for what was to come. We returned to the room where the conclave was still assembled and Godwin showed me and my ring off to as many as would look.Although they all appeared to be happy, I noticed that there were two in the room with a subdued smile on their faces. One was my mother. Another was a dark haired beauty who’d been quietly sitting in the back corner of the room during the hearing. I’d noticed her because of her beauty, but, since she kept silent, I quickly lost interest. Since she stood out from the crowd because of her lack of enthusiasm over Godwin’s announcement, she, once again, had my attention.I made a mental note to find out just exactly who she was.As for my mother… She was both happy for me and concerned. She felt that we were rushing things and was vocal about that opinion. In some ways, I had to agree. With the help of the man with the kind face, she managed to get Godwin to agree to allow me

I was lying on a plush, king sized mattress in a strange room when my eyes finally opened and the world reappeared.“Where am I?” I mumbled as I rubbed the sleep from them.“You’re in one of my guest rooms,” Kenton said as he walked to the side of the bed. “How do you feel?”“Confused and pissed off,” I grumbled.“As well you should be,” Kenton said, reassuringly.“Where is everyone?” I asked.“Your mother and Godwin are conversing with the conclave. Do you want me to send for them?”I grabbed his wrist to hold him in place. “No, not yet. I want to talk to you for a minute.”He sat on the edge of the bed and brushed a stray hair from my temple. “What would you like to talk about, my love?”I repressed the fluttering response my body had when he called me his love and focused on the question

“Let’s get started, shall we?” Godwin said in a polite and friendly tone.A pinched faced woman who reminded me of an old schoolmarm with her hair pulled back into a tight bun stood up. “If you don’t mind, sir, we feel it would be best to keep you out of the decision making, since you are so closely involved with the defendant.”Godwin fidgeted in his chair. I could feel his muscles tightening as he did his best to maintain his composure. “Yes, well, it doesn’t please me, but, if it pleases you, I will stay as quiet as possible. Now, can we please get this over with?”“We are called to order to discuss the punishment for Mary Jane Cramby who willfully set fire to seven teenage werewolf boys two nights ago. Six died. One survived and is left with severe scarring and physical impairment.”I didn’t know which my ears didn’t want to hear more; the use o

Who goes there?” called a male vampire who was holding vigil over Kenton’s home.“It’s Maryanne Cramby,” my mother called out. “I’ve got my daughter with me.”“Come ahead,” the vampire said in a gruff tone.I followed my mother as she carefully approached the house. It seemed to me that we were playing with worse fire than if we’d stayed at home and dealt with Michael. After all, the vampires were at war with the werewolves – of which my mother was now one- and they ate fairies for snacks -as I’d already experienced with Cindy.I watched as the vampire pulled out his cell phone and made a quick call. His entire demeanor shifted from gruff and threatening to pleasant and inviting once the call had ended.“I didn’t exactly know who you were,” he said, apologetically. “Go right in. They&rsqu
