The manager glanced at Rebecca with a look of doubt and a question, which made Rebecca grit her teeth. She corrected, "He is joking with you! I am his assistant!"

Hearing that, the manager's lips cracked up in a smile, and he replied, "I did not know Mr. Harrington could unwind like this. It is a rare sight indeed." The manager laughed as he said, "Sir Trevor told me to set a table for you well. Please follow me, Miss!"

Rebecca nodded and began following him. She, too, never witnessed Edward cracking jokes in front of others, or did he truly mean that?

"No," she shrugged her thoughts, shaking her head, "He despises me. There is no way he would like her to have the title of his wife. And I certainly don't want it either!"

She followed the manager inside and found there were not many people present for dining. Her eyes came to a stop on Veronica, who seemed to become agitated seeing her and she got up from her seat. Her gaze did not hide her murderous intent.

"Yes, Dad!" Rebecca said. "Where are you? You forget to come home. What is going on?" Klein asked and his voice was filled with concern. "Dad, I am busy looking for work. I would come this weekend," Rebecca replied. "Why this weekend? Why not now? Your mother is worried," Klein said, making Rebecca tense. She, too, wanted to go to her home, but Edward was not letting her. "Dad, I am truly cornered by things. As soon as I get free time, I will come," Rebecca replied; a disappointment brushed past her eyes because the house she was living in now did not make her feel loved; rather, it tortured her sleep. She just wanted to run. "Listen, last day, Mr. Pete came to my office and we talked for a long time. I am truly ashamed, knowing what happened to him in his gallery. I thought you would

"I brought her here to take care of my date, not to flirt with a man," Edward grumbled, the displeasure was evident in his voice."Then why aren't you paying attention to me? Ed, we have been together for so long. Why can't we move to the next stage?" said Veronica, reaching for his hand and holding it in her palm."What? Next stage!" Edward's voice came out sharp, "There is no next stage. I have already warned you about my preferences and that is not going to change ever. But you are not bound by anything, so if you want to pursue the life you are looking for, go ahead!" And he pulled out his hand. "But...." Veronica began and wanted to convince Edward, but she was interrupted by him as he said, "Let's go, we are leaving!" Simultaneously, he got up, staring at Rebecca, intending to go there. ★★★★★ By the time Edward returned to the same restaurant to get Rebecca, she was gone already. Seeing him, the manager sprinted to him and said expeditiously, "Sir, We tried everything to stop her from leaving. We could not make her stay. She threatened to call the cops on us and put us in jail on a kidnapping case." "When did she leave and with whom?" Edward asked with a chilling tone. "She left the restaurant fifteen minutes ago but alone," the manager said; his words were firm and clear. "Are you sure?" Edward narrowed his eyes, looking for the truth. His piercing gaze startled the manager. "You can watch the footage, and the man who had been with your wife earlier left rather hurriedly with his tail between his legs after knowing who she was," the manager replied politely with both of his hands joined in front of him. Edward did not ask anything more. Rather, he said, "Send the bill to Trevor. He will take care of it. I am in a bit of a rush." "Yes, sir, definitely. By t

The furious part is he didn't even care to call you and ask about your health. Who cares about his money? we can pay the hospital bill!" Veronica’s mother said, stood up from her seat. She made her way to the window and moved the curtain to the side, adding, "You are hurting yourself to get his attention.

His hands clenched at his sides, itching to lash out, but his curiosity for the flaw in his grand plan kept him rooted.Edward stepped slightly to the side, positioning Rebecca protectively beside him. His gaze bore into Connor with quiet intensity. "Your mistake?" he began, voice steady and deliberate. "It started the moment Grandfather insisted I give you an equal opportunity in the business. When I allowed you to take charge of the projects I owned, you thought you had won."Connor scoffed, though unease flickered in his eyes. "Then why did you let me control everything, even the Blue Heaven properties?"Edward's lips curved into a sharp, humourless smile. "Control? You own nothing, Connor. The papers you collected—stolen, actually—are all fakes. I orchestrated every move, letting you believe your schemes were succeeding. Why? Because I knew you had Grandfather imprisoned on that island.

His dark eyes searched hers, but Imara refused to meet his look, her attention darting around the room instead. Her restless fingers fiddled with the hem of her jacket, an obvious tell that something was off.
