Antony stopped his car outside Claire's house and unlocked the gate with the spare key he had kept for a long time.
Claire's car hadn't moved from its spot. It was still there since the last time Antony visited his fiancée's home, before Claire's family took her back.
Who knows? Maybe Claire could hear the gate opening or maybe not. But one thing was clear: his wife did not welcome him at all because Claire's house felt eerily silent.
Was Gladwin playing a trick on him? Who knows if Claire was really back at her house.
He opened the front door and stepped inside, greeting her. Once again, there was no response. When Antony noticed Claire's bedroom door slightly ajar, he walked in.
Claire wasn't there. All that was left was the small suitcase she had brought from the hotel room.
"Claire, sweetheart," Antony called out again, but still, there was no answer.
Could it be that Claire left again after dropping off her suitcase and saw Gladwin leave? he wondered to himself.
Antony continued walking toward the backyard, where a small gazebo was located. There, he could see Claire's back. Her long hair, which he had seen wet after her shower, was now starting to dry.
"Claire?" Antony called out softly. Yet his wife didn't turn around or respond to him.
Antony walked closer. He didn't want to startle Claire and make her even angrier. Instead, he chose to observe her from behind, curious about what she was doing. Claire was holding her phone in her left hand, with earbuds connected.
Was his wife listening to music at a high volume? Antony wondered. He then walked slowly around Claire and sat down in front of her. The girl still had her eyes closed. If Antony hadn't seen her body moving, he would have assumed Claire was asleep in her seated position.
Antony rested his elbows on his knees and propped his chin on his hands. He gazed silently at his wife's peaceful face. He longed to lift his hand and touch her face and the hair of the girl who was now officially his wife.
To touch her not just with his hands, but with his lips as well.
Suddenly, Antony imagined himself kissing her face, starting from her smooth forehead, down to her small, pointed nose, her slender cheeks, and finally ending with a kiss on her pink lips that always looked so tempting.
But then Antony shook his head. Once again, he had to restrain himself.
For thirteen years, he had successfully suppressed his desires for women. Thirteen years feeling numb. And now, with the woman in front of him finally halal (permissible) to touch, he had to hold himself back again.
It was alright; what difference would a few more days make? Although deep down, he wished more than anything that Claire would forgive him right then and there.
Claire slowly opened her eyes and was quite surprised to see Antony sitting cross-legged in front of her, still in the same clothes and looking more disheveled than before.
"What are you doing here?" she asked sharply, removing one of the earbuds from her ear.
Antony smiled sheepishly, looking at his wife. "I came to find you," he replied briefly.
"For what?" she asked, still sounding annoyed. Instead of answering Claire's question, Antony leaned in closer and took the earbud that she had just removed.
"What are you listening to?" he asked curiously. Without waiting for an answer, he put the earbud in his own ear. "Classical music?" Antony asked, surprised. Claire raised an eyebrow in response.
He had initially thought Claire was listening to metal music, which was why she hadn't heard him greet her. But he was wrong.
"What's wrong with the music I listen to?" Claire shot back, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
Antony shook his head, returning the earbud to Claire since she had already turned off the audio on her phone.
"Nothing, sweetheart. I just thought you were listening to metal so loudly that you couldn't hear me call," Antony admitted honestly.
Claire chose to stand up and walk away from Antony.
Alright, the persuasion game has just begun, Antony thought. He followed Claire wherever she went, hoping that she would choose to go back into the bedroom. He silently prayed for it.
Unfortunately, Claire turned to the right instead of to the left. She walked into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator, pouring a cold drink into a glass before gulping it down greedily, as if she hadn't had water in a long time.
Antony stood deliberately behind her, pressing his body against hers. He didn't care if Claire felt disturbed by it; in fact, he intended to crowd her so that when she set the glass down and turned around, he could trap her petite frame with both of his hands.
"What are you doing?" Claire hissed, her tone very sharp.
She looked unfazed, crossing her arms over her chest and gazing at Antony with piercing eyes. She didn't seem the slightest bit uncomfortable or anxious, even though Antony was already feeling hot and cold with desire.
Antony couldn't waver. He stretched his arms out to either side of her body, effectively enclosing her.
"I just wanted to admire my wife up close," he said casually, even though his heart was anything but calm. Especially since his lower body was throbbing more painfully than usual.
Seeing Claire looking fresh, fragrant, and beautiful made Antony want to strip her down, kiss her passionately, and make love to her until he was completely satisfied. Once again, he had to restrain his desires for now.
Hold on, Antony. Hold on. The battle hasn't even begun, he muttered to himself.
"Why did you leave?" Antony asked Claire in return. "You should have come with me, demanded an explanation from those two women. Ask them what their intentions were for coming to our party."
"You were the one who said you invited her," Claire replied, dismissing Antony's argument. "Although I was surprised by the other arrivals." She admitted honestly.
Antony nodded. He acknowledged that he was at fault, and he was just as shocked as Claire. "Yes, I admit it was my oversight," he said firmly. "I shouldn't have let the PR team extend an invitation to Anastasia. But, darling, honestly, I never suspected she would bring Flavia's mother along." He continued earnestly. "That woman did it on purpose just to make you jealous."
Claire furrowed her brow for a moment at Antony's words. Then she shrugged nonchalantly. "She succeeded in that," Claire replied without even blinking. Antony's eyes lit up at her response. "But more than that, I felt angry. Do you know what I was thinking at that moment?"
"What?" Antony asked, eager to know.
"Those two women were the answer to my mother's prayers," she said, anger flaring in her voice.Antony was taken aback. "No, darling. Your mother's prayers will never be answered like that.""Alright, they did come with certain intentions. But can't you see me? To me, they are nobody. In my eyes, in my heart, in my mind, there is only Claire, Claire, and Claire. There's no other woman." Antony coaxed her in a soothing tone.Claire couldn't help but chuckle at that. "Don't sweet-talk me," she replied with a hint of amusement.Antony shook his head. He stepped closer to his wife. Claire still had her arms crossed over her chest, and to maintain some distance from him, she leaned her body back."I'm not sweet-talking you, darling. I'm speaking the truth. If only there were experts who could read my mind and heart, you could ask them. I'm sure they would tell you the truth. And if they lied, I would bribe them to say what I want them to say," Antony said again.Claire rolled her eyes. Ant

"Full?" asked Claire with a furrowed brow.Antony deliberately re-emphasized his lower body so that Claire was wide-eyed. "You know what I mean, right?" Antony whispered in the girl's ear that inevitably made Claire shudder in horror. The man's lips teased her, starting to caress the side of her face so that she unconsciously looked up and gave him the opportunity to explore the slender recesses of her neck."Can I ask for my rights now?" he asked in a pleading tone.Claire shook her head."Why again now?" "So, what's your position at Coskun Company?" Claire looked lazily at the man sitting across from her. His name was Erick, the son of one of her mother's social circle friends. At first glance, Erick was quite handsome. He had a tall stature, fair and clean skin. His face was free of acne or any scars, which Claire suspected was the result of regular visits to a beauty salon. His clothing also hinted at affluence.Of course, Claire's mother mentioned that Erick's father was a diamond entrepreneur, making him undeniably wealthy. On a scale of one to ten, Claire rated him a nine based on appearances alone. However, that was just the external assessment. For the past half hour, Erick hadn't stopped talking about himself and his family, boasting but consistently belittling others. He commented on every person who entered his field of vision, offering unnecessary judgments and excessive self-praise. Now, it seemed he was evaluating Claire. If it weren't for the need to uphold her mother's
"Where are you?" The loud shout made Claire wince. She wanted to move the phone away from her ear, but upon seeing the flat square object on the bathroom sink, Claire realized she had a Bluetooth headset in her ear."Why? Missing me?" Claire retorted, waving her hand gently to reduce the water on her hands before placing it under the hand dryer."Missing your fleas! Damn it!" The girl on the other end snorted. "Where are you now? Don't tell me you're in the restroom!""Do you have a GPS on me, or are you monitoring me from your favorite basin?" Claire chuckled. She glanced at her reflection in the mirror, adjusting her hair before grabbing her phone and leaving the restroom."Say whatever you want. Just tell me where you are. It's Monday, Claire. Are you heartless enough not to go to work and add to my workload? Just last weekend, I praised you, and now you're burdening me with all this?" Her friend complained again. Whether she liked it or not, Claire couldn't help but laugh."Sorry,
"Can I help you with something?" greeted a woman whom Claire was sure was the receptionist for that floor."Where's the meeting room?" Claire asked after shaking her head a few times to clear her mind of inappropriate thoughts."Are you from the branch office?" the receptionist asked again. Claire nodded affirmatively. "Please go straight ahead, pass through two doors. The meeting for all branches is in the third door." Claire nodded in understanding and followed the instructions from the receptionist named Selin. The first room she passed had thick transparent glass walls. Inside, people were engaged in serious discussions—clearly an internal division meeting. She continued walking while observing. The second room also had thick transparent glass walls with an oval-shaped table inside, but this one appeared empty. While the third door had black-tinted glass, probably the type that allows one to see outside but remains opaque from the outside. Antony was taken aback when he stepped out of his apartment lobby and found a beautiful woman in a sexy red dress waiting for him. The stunning model, currently serving as the brand ambassador for his company, waved her hand adorned with expensive diamonds and greeted him with her signature smile. Instead of returning the smile, Antony gave her a sharp look.Lately, this woman had been crossing boundaries, much to Antony's annoyance. Despite explicitly instructing her not to invade his private space, Anastasia seemed far more stubborn than he had anticipated. Should he instruct his apartment security to blacklist her as a visitor? Of course, he could do that; he paid handsomely for their services."What are you doing here?" Antony asked flatly."Today, I'll be signing a new contract with Coskun Company. So, why don't we go together?" The woman inquired with a teasing manner. Antony merely raised an eyebrow and, without saying much, walked away, leaving her behind. His chauffeur was al

Quickly, Anastasia ran after Antony. She called his name repeatedly, but Antony chose to ignore her until her stiletto heels finally brought her close to him. She immediately reached out and grabbed Antony's arm, but he harshly brushed her off."Antony, listen to me. Please. I'm really sorry. I apologize," she said in a whiny tone. The woman tried to grab Antony's hand again, but he pushed her away once more, causing her to fall and kneel on the cold marble floor. Not wanting to give up, Anastasia wrapped her arms around Antony's legs, forcing him to stop."I'm truly sorry," she pleaded again, her voice desperate. She begged for the man's compassion, finally realizing that everything Antony had said in the room earlier was no joke. "I... I..." She couldn't find the words. "I'm sorry, please forgive me," she begged, tears starting to wet her face.Antony looked down at her with a sharp gaze. "Do you realize that what you're doing has crossed the line?" he asked in his cold tone.Anasta
Antony arrived at a luxurious five-star hotel located not too far from his family's hotel. As soon as he parked his car, he headed straight to the room Letizia had mentioned when he contacted his cousin earlier.Inside the lavish room rented by his ex-wife sat Antony's mother, Brianna Quirino, alongside her husband, Mr. Arthur. Meanwhile, Letizia stood with her hip leaning against the bar chair, her arms crossed over her chest.Don't ask where her children and husband were. Antony guessed that his sister-in-law was waiting for them somewhere. The three family members displayed different expressions, surely with different thoughts filled with questions that might mirror what was in Antony's own mind.On the other side of the room, right above the sofa facing away from the window, two women sat side by side. One was Anastasia, a woman he had pretended to date for work purposes. The other was his ex-wife, the woman he once loved deeply, who had given him a beautiful and devoted daughter.
But then Claire tried to clear her mind. She refused to believe that her mother could be so cruel to her; if that were the case, Claire might end up resenting her mother for the rest of her life.Disloyal? She didn't care about that word. Her face was already free of makeup, and her hair had been released from the beautiful tiara she had worn earlier. Now, the makeup artists helped Claire start to unbutton the lovely gown she had worn, which had so many buttons down the back.Once everything was removed, Claire opened her suitcase, searching for clothes. She decided to clean herself up in the bathroom that was in the dressing room.Feeling refreshed after showering and washing her hair, Claire put on the clothes she had chosen: a pair of jeans and a loose shirt instead of the dress Antony had picked out for her to wear on their honeymoon, which they were supposed to take right after the reception she was now reluctant to attend. No, she wouldn't just surrender herself to her husband a
The events proceeded according to the instructions from the host.Happy? Of course, Claire was happy. Especially seeing Bella's silly antics, who didn't hesitate to liven up the event alongside Gladwin and some of his office friends invited to the wedding, which surprised them as well. After all, Claire's absence from the office had already been quite shocking, and now they were suddenly presented with news of a wedding they had never seen any signs of."I had my suspicions when our big boss showed up at my wedding, and it turns out he was after the cheese in the sandwich," Chand whispered when his friend arrived with his wife. Claire could only smile in response to that accusatory remark.A snippet of the song that Adaline was singing on stage made Claire and Antony hold hands tightly, hoping that no obstacles would disturb them in the future.Guests began to dwindle. Amidst welcoming guests, they also took several photo sessions—not just with colleagues but also to capture moments w
