Misunderstanding

The sound of soft grunts and moan filled the janitor's closet, also with the mixture of soft whispers. Paige groaned softly.

"Stop Nate, we can't do this. I can't betray my best friend" Paige pushed him away and adjusted her glasses. She was leaning on the wall, buttoning her shirt. She almost had s*x with her best friend's boyfriend. She couldn't think of what would happen if anything happen and she catches them together. She isn't the type of friend that would do that.

"She isn't here and she won't find out about any of it" he replied and drove himself to her again.

She pushed him away and slipped her finger into her hair in frustration.

"Look, she'll be here in less than three minutes. Besides, it's our graduation tomorrow. Very soon, you both are going to get married and have kids and... Do a lot of things together as a couple. And I, I don't want to be involved in your mess" she tried to explain herself and adjusted her long hair to the back, still buttoning her shirt.

It was like Nate wasn't even listening to her at all. He was obsessed with her.

He grabbed her hands and pinned it to the wall, trying to kiss her.

"Just once Paige, please. I want you, I love you" he cried out, panting hard. They paused for some seconds and stared deep into each other's eyes. She could see the truth in his eyes but there was nothing she could do about it. It would just make everything worse.

"What are you saying?" She asked him in a whispering tone.

"I said, I love you and I want you" he replied. Paige lowered her gaze and gave a soft chuckle. It sounded like dream to her.

Paige was just a nineteen year old girl while Nate was a year older than she is. She was more than 5ft tall with dark brown hair. Her eyes were light brown with her hairy lashes. She was very light skinned but very beautiful at the same time. Her beautiful heart face that matches with every other thing that's on it. Her nose, lips, eyes, everything was just perfectly made.

"We both know that you can't have me" she murmured.

"It doesn't matter. We could run away and never come back" he suggested.

Suddenly, they got distracted when the door flung open as Quinn walked in. She was holding a cup of milkshake. When she saw her boyfriend and best friend in that position, it fell from her hand and splashed on the floor. Her expression suddenly changed.

"What in the actual f*ck is going on here?!" She asked angrily, raising her eyebrows.

"Oh no..." Nate thought. He angrily stared at Paige. He needed a way to protect himself.

"You've gotten what you wanted right? What do you think would happen that I would leave beautiful and sassy Quinn for a four eyed creature like you" he asked loudly.

"What are you talking about? You are the one telling me that..." Confused Paige asked.

"One more word from you and I won't hesitate to slap you" he threatened as he grabbed her face.

"That's enough now. You can't hit a girl" Quinn reminded him.

He let go of her face and walked to Quinn.

"I'm glad you are here baby. I've been waiting tirelessly for you. Your best friend tried to seduce me but nothing will ever worn off our love for each other" he said. Quinn smirked and stood on her toe. She kissed him on the cheek and slowly walked to Paige. She was still confused, wishing everything that had just happened was nothing but a dream, the dream she thought it was.

"I saw everything Paige. I also see the way you look at my Nate. Come on now, snap out of your dream land. He's never going to be yours" Quinn said softly. she isn't the type of girl that waste people's time.

"Are you going to believe him? I'm the victim here" Paige tried to explain herself but Quinn wasn't giving her a listening ear.

"I don't care Paige. And yes, for what you just did. We can't be friends anymore. I can't trust you. I don't even know what I'm doing with a low life like you. You are in no class with me and you can never be. it's over, our friendship is over "

"Quinn, listen to yourself. You can't do this to us. He was the one trying to force himself on me. I didn't do anything, I swear" Paige shook her head slowly.

"I don't believe you. Let's go baby. I have plans for tomorrow. I can't let a nonsense nobody ruin my mood" She said and left while Nate followed her behind. He paused when he got to the door and stared at Paige.

"I'm sorry" he whispered and left. Of course, he had his reasons for lying. He wished he never has. It was their graduation tomorrow, time for them to leave high school. He won't see Paige every again after tomorrow.

Quinn was in her luxurious room, ordering some things that she'll need for tomorrow while someone attended to her nails.

Her mother walked in with a glass of orange juice and placed it on the table beside her.

"You look beautiful Quinn" her mother commented.

"I know mom, I'm very beautiful" she replied proudly without glancing at her mother. She was focused on her phone and tomorrow. Her mother nodded slowly and left the room.

"You have no idea what happened man. I almost had my way with her till Quinn caught us in the act. I blamed Paige for everything and I felt bad" Nate explained everything that happened to his friend, roaming about in his room.

"You love Paige, just tell Quinn and she'll discuss it with her parents" Dylan replied with his legs crossed as he sat comfortably on the couch.

"Have you gone nut? You know that the contract have been signed already" he finally paused and sat on the bed.

"Relax, tomorrow is the graduation, cheer up man"

"It's not only our graduation Dylan. Tomorrow is our engagement" Nate muffled.

"What?!" asked in a surprised tone.

The D-Day finally came. It happened as planned. Quinn and Nate finally got engaged. Paige came to congratulate her friend but Quinn didn't let her into the venue. Nate felt sorry for her. He had wished he could let her in. She left the venue after spending some hours outside the cold weather.

They went to college together and also got married at the end.

FOUR YEARS LATER...

The alarm close the bed went off, making a blaring noise. Nate grabbed a pillow and covered his face so he won't hear the noise. When it didn't stop, he stretched his hand and hit the button.

He sat up after the noise has stopped.

"Good morning sweetheart" Quinn kissed him from behind. He turned and stared at her, grabbing her head. He kissed her deeply as their tongues twisted in each other's mouth.

"Hmm.. hold on big boy. I have a shoot today and I have to get ready" Quinn got out of bed and head to the bathroom.

"I'll make breakfast" Nate left the bed also, slipping his feet into his slippers.

"sounds good" she replied and slammed the door. Nate snorted and got out of the room.

Paige ran into the company with her wet hair and shoes in her hand. Other employees stared at her as she ran quickly. She was a minute late already. She got into the studio and sat down, placing the headset over her head. She exhaled deeply and waited for the song to go off.

At the other side of the studio was her Manager who have been waiting for her. He heaved a breath of relief when he saw her.

"Good morning and welcome to Your Fm. I hope you had a wonderful sleep back there because I did. On today's...."

Quinn had little of her breakfast and prepared to go for her shoot already. She wasn't supposed to eat much. She grabbed her bag and car keys and kissed her husband's cheek.

"My regards to Dylan" Nate said.

"My regards to your dad" she walked out of the house in her skimpy gown. She doesn't even wear her wedding ring whenever she's outside. Nate was sure has never worn it after their wedding. He shook the thought off his head. He can't let what he was thinking of ruin his day. He got ready as quick as possible and left the house also.

Paige was on her little desk with her head on the table. She was taking a little nap. She has another show when it's 7pm. She heard a soft bang on the table and sprung up.

"Mr jay.." she called out, blinking repeatedly.

He sat opposite her and asked her to sit.

"Why were you late today?" He asked.

"I had an hangover last night" she replied.

"How many times have I told you to stop drinking? You may ruin your career" he said.

"I'm sorry. I just took a bottle"

"No more bottles, okay?" He asked.

She nodded. "Yes sir" she heaved a breath of relief. For some seconds, she thought she was going to get fired.

"You should rest now. Your next show is 7pm with Josh Wick" Mr Jay said and stood up.

"What? I get to interview the celebrity?" She asked with a smile on her face.

"Yes, I've decided to give you another chance. If you spill this one, you are leaving" he warned her and left her desk.

"Argh!" Paige groaned silently and went back to sleep.

"Son?" Mr Davidson called out to his son. He was staring at some files.

"Yes father" he replied and raised his head to stare at his father.

"How's she?" He asked. Nate sighed deeply and stared back at the files. He finally got the one he was looking for and picked it out, placing it on the table.

"She's fine, she's doing great" he replied.

"I'm sorry that I had to get you involved. We needed that contract urgently. Two parties must agree before something must happen"

"It's all in the past now. I've gotten married to her and nothing can change that. I'll be in my office" he left quickly. He hate to have this sort of conversation with his father. It just reminded him of the mess he got him involved with. He saw a white envelope on the table. He furrowed his eyebrows and picked it up.

"From anonymous" he muttered. He opened it and saw pictures of his wife, naked.
