Chapter 9 Everything is set

I chuckled. "Let's eat first, Leah. I'm starving. Let's order, and I'll fill you in on everything."

As we ate, I explained how my chance meeting with the notorious alpha came about. I was careful not to mention the curse on him or the unknown threat he faced, but I felt comfortable sharing at least this much with Leah. I intended to take the secret to my grave if needed, rather than betray those I considered family.

When we finished our meal, Leah sat back contemplatively, massaging her stomach as she eyed the desserts on display at the counter with greed.

"You can't possibly have room for more!" I exclaimed incredulously.

"Is that a challenge?" Leah gasped with mock horror. "Because it sounds very much like a challenge. Very well! I accept," she declared, answering her own question as she stood and hurried over to choose a dessert.
