Taking up a Legacy

Two days Later ...

Monday 5th September 2022

6:30 am ..

My ringing tone blasted through my dream waking me up to full consciousness , I groaned as I felt pain shoot down my spine, I turned to lie faced down on my bed and slowly reached for the phone.

I declined the call without even looking at who it is but the caller won't stop calling.

"Hmm" I groaned immediately I picked up the call.

"Don't tell me you're still asleep" the caller said and I turned to lie on my back.

"Presley" I murmured.

"Come on , get up and shine it's a big day today " she said and I sat up on by bed with my legs folded in front of me and I bent my head tiredly .

"Ana " I heard her call and I slowly raised my head up , I raised my hands and parted my hair which was all over my face.

"Few days ago you wanted this so much , you wanted so badly for your dad to finally see you,"

"Now you have it , I don't get why your excitement is gone" she said.

"It's still there , I'm just really tired" I murmured.

"It's a beautiful morning Ana, perfect for your big day today , I just called to let you know you go girl"

"You rock, go out to that resort and be the best version of yourself "

"Thank you babes , I love you" I said as a wide smile spread across my face.

"I know , your day starts now make the best out of it" she said and I nodded.

"I will" I whispered.

"And try to smile more at your new workers "

"I'll try " I whispered.

"And please try to sugarcoat your opinions so you seem slightly friendly " she added.

"I don't need new friends " I replied and I could hear her sigh over the phone.

"Whatever just be good , love you" she concluded and ended the call.

I stretched and dropped the phone on my bedside table, I slowly came down from my bed and stretched out with a yawn.

I picked up my night robe and wore it over the gown I was on before walking out to the balcony in my room.

Immediately I opened the sliding door the breeze coupled with fresh morning smell hit my face and I released a delightful smile, I stepped in , walked to the railings and rested my hands on it , Presley was right about one thing though it was a beautiful morning.

The birds were chirping as usual, probably singing a song in unison who knows , the sun beams peeking through the clouds, golden light everywhere, covering natural and man-made creations, full of beauty and magic, filled with the promise of a new beginning.

Which was literally a new beginning for me .

Two days ago after my interview with CEO under thirty, Dad told me that maybe it was finally time he entrusts one of his establishment to me.

It took that interview on Friday to make him see that I've actually achieved a lot .

Even if the resort was a crappy one and was no longer popular , I was still excited about it , atleast reviving it to it's previous glory and even better would finally prove me worthy of the last name Bennett.

After some time of just standing and staring at nature's beauty , I heard a knock on my door before the door slowly went open, I turned back to see an house assistant walk in with a teacup in a small tray.

"Miss Bennett" she called as she slowly set the cup on the table beside my bed.

I exhaled deeply and walked back inside the room.

"Good morning Ma'am " she greeted immediately she saw me walk in with her hands behind her and her heads bowed , they all knew better than to look me in the face.

I slowly picked up the coffee she had just brought and took a sip from it.

"Taste what you made for me" I said quietly as I stretched the cup to her , she began to tremble as she slowly lifted her gaze up to the cup.

"M-ma" she stuttered looking up at me , I didn't say anything , I just kept staring at her and she slowly took the cup from me.

Immediately she raised the cup to her mouth I raised my index finger and tipped it over.

She released a loud cry as it's hot content spilled over her body .

"Six months and you still don't know how to make me a perfect coffee" I growled.

"I'm sorry " she whimpered moving uncomfortably from one leg to another.

"If reverse was the circumstance I doubt you'd ever be sorry , you pretentious lying wench!!" I growled.

"The next time you make me this nonsense you call coffee , oh I'll be doing more than just scalding your wretched skin with it!"

"Get the hell out of my sight and clean up this mess!"

"You disgust me!" I yelled , she bowed slightly as she quickly took out a mop in my bathroom cleaned up the floor and dashed out of my room.

Just great!, What a way to start my day!.

I walked towards my dressing table and took a seat there as I began to do my early morning skin care routine.

I heard a small creek in the door and I turned ready to lash out on who it was , I took in deep deep breath and relaxed as I saw Mom walk in.

"Good morning Princess" she greeted as she walked in and took a seat on my bed, looking at me through the mirror

"Good morning Mom" I murmured in reply.

"What's wrong this morning again, why do you look so sour?!" she asked.

"I already told you times without number Mom, Katrina is so useless around here , let's fire her!" I growled.

"So your face is this disgruntled because of Katrina?!" She asked and I turned fully to face her.

"What do you mean Mom?!"

"What I mean is stop giving the helps so much access to your emotions!" She replied.

"Stop letting them get to you !"

"I hate incompetence and you know this mom!" I replied.

"I know, and it's a good thing you're meticulous but sometimes you just need to be a little more patient with these people!"

"They're trying their absolute best to please you" she replied.

"Clearly their best isn't enough!" I retorted.

"They're lack of proficiency is so sickening!" I added .

"Relax" she whispered as she stood up and walked to me , she carefully turned my chair to face the mirror again and she placed her two hands on both sides of my shoulder standing behind me.

"You're starting a new project today sweetie and one thing is certain your staff ,they'll do things you don't like"

"So from now on , I need you to learn to control your emotions, there's no need to yell or growl or frown!"

"Don't let a couple of people's bad attitude to work ruin your own day!"

"They're your emotions control it! and be nice!" She said as she stared at me through the mirror.

"I'll try " I whispered.

"That's good enough for me " she replied.

"Now give me a smile" she said and my lips slowly stretched into a smile.

"See how beautiful you look with a smile" she said and my smile widened.

"I love you Mom"

"I love you too sweetheart"
