Anniversaries are overrated

Ariana's POV

Later in the day ...

I walked into the board room at the resort slowly and elegantly , everyone in there stood up and bowed in greeting as I walked in , which I obviously ignored .

I slowly walked up to where I was supposed to be and took my seat there dropping my handbag on the floor, beside my chair.

Shortly after the door opened and Dad walked in.

"Good morning sir "

"Good morning sir" they all greeted as he walked in , he responded with a wave of hand before he took his seat.

"Good morning Everyone, I'm just gonna get to this quickly" he said clearing his throat.

"I'm sure we all are aware of the situation of things around here " he started

"Most of our investors have pulled out and things are no longer as they should be " he added and they all hummed nodding their head slowly.

"So to that effect , I'll be handing down all of the operations of this resort to my daughter Ariana Bennett!" He said and they all began to clap their hands.

"I believe she has all it takes to revive this place " he said and looked up at me with a small smile which I returned gleefully.

Oh! My! God!.

"Henceforth I cease to be in control of the affairs of this place , I might pop in once in a while but all of you would now be accountable to her" he continued .

"And I demand that you accord her the same respect as you have done to me !" 

"All of your concerns and report of this place should be taken up to her ."

"Understood?!"

"Yes sir" they all chorused simultaneously and he nodded.

"Good!" 

"Meeting's dismissed " he said and they all stood up, bowed before walking out.

"Thank you Daddy for this" I said as I stood up and walked towards him.

"There's no need to thank me , you're my daughter after all" he said and I nodded with a smile.

"Just don't make me regret my decision" he said and placed his hands on my shoulder.

"I won't I promise" I whispered and he nodded.

"That's good to hear " he replied with a small smile and immediately , the door went open and someone walked in.

"Oh yes" he said as he dropped his hands from my shoulder.

"This is Camilla " he said gesturing to the lady that just walked in.

"And Camilla this is my daughter Ariana" he introduced.

"She'll be your personal assistant as long as you're here" 

"She'll help you with all you need to know , take you around and basically just do what assistant do, she has been with us for quite sometime so you're gonna learn a lot from her " he concluded 

"It's nice to meet you" she said as she walked to me and stretched out her hands in an handshake.

I slowly looked down at her hand and then slowly back up at her face taking in all of her appearance.

She was putting on a blue shirt with pink stripes and red suit pants , she had a brown bob hair that stopped right at her neck .

"I know " I whispered in reply not taking her hands.

"Oh !" She said raising her brows.

"Okay!" She whispered and awkwardly dropped her hands.

"Alright ladies I got to go , I trust you'll take care of things here Ana" he said turning to me and I nodded.

"I will"

"Bye dear" he said as he hug me and pecked both of my cheeks.

"Bye Dad" I replied and he walked out.

"Come on , I'll show you to your office " Camilla said as I walked back to my seat to pick up my bag.

4:00pm ...

Logan's POV 

"Here you go , the usual" 

"Two cups of triple Expresso with foam" I added with a small smile as I stretched out the cup to the lady in front of me.

"Thank you Logan" she replied with a smile , and I stretched her change to her.

"It's a tip" she whispered with a small wink and walked away.

My lips curled into a smile , it's not everyday you get thirty dollars as a tip.

Immediately she walked away , I removed the apron I was wearing and hung it behind the door.

That was my last customer for today , my shift ends now.

I walked back into the changing room as I took off my uniform and began to put on my clothes.

Immediately I was done changing and trying to get my things together, my phone began to ring.

I paused, took it out and looked at who was calling , Olivia was boldly written on it.

I exhaled deeply, placed my ear pod in my ear and swiped on the receive button.

"Hey babes " she chirped immediately I answered the call.

"Hi" I replied as I continued packing my things together.

"Come on Babes , don't tell me you're still angry"

"I already apologized this morning" she whined and I scoffed .

"Really ?!, You apologized?! " 

"I don't remember, 'I couldn't make it yesterday, I was really busy' passing for an apology!" I replied.

"God Logan!, You're doing it again"

"Doing what?!" 

"Nagging!, You're nagging me again!" She said and I scoffed with a small pained smile.

"I'm nagging you?!, Really?!"

"That's what you're doing bro!!" She retorted.

I met Olivia when we were still in the university, we clicked nicely and we became friends, she was my first real friend after Mia , after some years we began to develop feelings for each other and we began dating.

We loved each other and it was perfect, until we were done in university and everybody began to evolve .

Olivia studied business management so she got a job easily to head her father's company , while I on the other hand didn't achieve so much .

It's been two years now and so much has changed between the both of us , conversations became strained , of the two of us , she was the only one working, she was literally the richest and I don't have a problem with that , what I have a problem with is her trying to control me and treating our appointment as least important.

"You stood me up!, What happened to calling or sending me a text that you won't make it!, Rather than making me wait all night for you!!" I snapped.

"I told you earlier, I had work and it was urgent!"

"I didn't even remember we had an appointment, that's how it is Logan some people have real jobs!!" She snapped.

"It was our anniversary Livia , you even have the balls to tell me you forgot?!"

"You just don't have any regard or respect for our relationship!!" I yelled 

"Anniversaries are overrated, I did what I did for us!" She retorted.

"No!, You did it for you!"

"Logan can you be a little more understanding!, We're trying to build a family here and you don't expect us to do what with the peanut you earn"

"No insult insinuated" she added immediately.

"No, you meant exactly what you said!!" I snapped .

"I love that you always make it clear to me that I'm not the man you wanted, everytime we have a conversation!"

"And the most painful part is I actually do love you!" I added in a whisper.

"What are you talking about ?! I love you and you know it!" 

"Two years ago I would have said yes , but now I just don't know!" I replied.

"Logan !" She called but I just sighed .

"Look, this conversation is getting really intense, we'll just talk later!" I said.

"Don't hang up on me!" She said and I clicked on the end button immediately.
