Nadia’s POV
I successfully sent theproducer my script after getting his email address from Hema. I can’t wait formy script to be adapted. It will be a dream come true for me. The landlinebegan ringing. Who could be calling? Hema is not around. I ignored it. Onsecond thought, I decided to answer the call.“Hello?”“Siddharth speaking,”Sidd spoke over the telephone. I removed it from my ear and looked at thetelephone as if I were going to see his face through it. “Am I on with Nadia?”he asked.“What is it now, Sidd?” Iqueried, sounding pissed off.“I want to see you,Nadia,” he said. “I want to make things right. I want to make up for my brokenpromise.”“Why the sudden change ofmind, Sidd?” I asked.“I should have done it along time ago. I was wrong to keep it up this way. Meet me tomorrow at thesafe house, okay?”“Fine, I will be there,”I agreed and the call ended. Why does Sidd wishVeer’s POVI hurried into the studio. I left to get a document for the director. He told me to bring it today and I forgot, all thanks to me not knowing how to do my tie. Leaving his office, I bumped into Siya. She staggered back, almost falling and I held her. “Are you okay?” I asked. She balanced on her feet and pulled away from me quickly. She doesn’t look comfortable. I have noticed she has been avoiding me, not taking my calls, and dodging my presence.“Sorry,” she said sharply and tried walking away. I grabbed her wrist, pulling her back to my front.“What’s wrong?” I queried. She wriggled her wrist to free her hand from me. “What’s the attitude about, Siya?”“What are you talking about?” she asked, not making eye contact with me.“Why are you avoiding me? What did I do this time?”“Nothing. Let me go,” she jerked her hand from me and went off. What was that all about? Siya never behaves that way, not to me. I guess something is wrong and I am goin
Siya’s POVI was exhausted today. Itwas night already. I sluggishly entered my room, dumping my bag on the dressingtable. I sat on the bed to take off my shoes. I heard a sound in the bathroom.I looked at the door. What could be moving in the bathroom? I waved it off and continuedunstrapping my shoelaces. Then the sound of the shower rushing drew my attentionback to the bathroom door. Did someone enter my room? Who? How? I slowly stoodup, shuffling to the bathroom door. The shower stopped and I gasped. Openingthe door, a hand covered my mouth.“Argh!” a muffled screamescaped my lips.“Hey.” Veer sounded, smiling at me. I pushed him back angrily. He chuckled.“What are you doing in myroom?” I groaned.“Chill,” he smiled. Whatwas funny? I shot past him, opening the door for him to leave.“Leave my room, Veer. Iam going to scream for help if you don’t,” I threatened. He moved closer to me,removing m
Sidd’s POVAfter leaving the building site, I headed back home. Tomorrow will be more hectic than today. I have to model and act in another scene with Veer. I just can’t wait to finish the movie. It’s straining my brain. I get to tackle Veer and cope with being nice to him. I will let the producer know never to put me on good terms with Veer in a movie. Being enemies in movies won’t be a bad idea, is it? I entered the living room, seeing my mom watching a TV while holding a flute of champagne.“Good evening, Mother,” I greeted, hanging my suit down my shoulder. I was stressed out.“Where are you coming from?” she queried. I looked disappointedly at her. I am no longer a child for pity’s sake, but Mother makes it look like I am still a baby that needs to be guided.“I went out,” I responded, walking off.“I never said you didn’t,” her words stopped me midstep. She stood up, moving to me. “Where exactly did you go?”“What is all these, Mother? When did you star
Nadia’s POVI was stepping out of the bathroom when my phone started ringing. I hurried to the bed and picked it up. Mr Hrithik called. My heart thumbs up in fear. I wonder why he was calling me. Was something wrong with my script? Won’t he adapt it anymore? Different negative thoughts rumbled in my head and my hands began shaking.“He… hel… hello,” I stuttered.“Hey, Nadia? Are you all right?” he asked from the other end.“Ye… yes, sir. I’m all right. How is work?” I said and sat on the bed to calm myself.“Work is fine. Um, can you make it to my office later? I need you to make an edit to the script. It’s nothing much, just a few lines,” he said. I inhaled deeply. Thank God it wasn’t a rejection.“Sure, sir. I will be on my way soon,” I affirmed.“Okay. See you,” he commented and hung up. I lay on the bed, puffing in relief.Later on, I headed to the living room to notify Hema of my leaving. “Are you ready?” she asked upon seeing me.“Yeah, how
Nadia’s POVA year passed with me working in the film industry as a screenwriter. My second script was accepted too and the short film is about completing now. Now the producer is interested in this story of mine, but the female lead happened to be a ballet dancer.“If you ask me to select the best Bollywood dancer, it will take me forever, but a ballet dancer? Never seen anyone with the passion for it in this industry,” Mr Hrithik told me. For a moment, I stayed mute, digesting his words and contemplating what to tell him. I rolled my eyes a thousand times, puckered my lips, and pressed my hands into each other. If no cast is selected, my script will be rejected. I bit my lower lip.“I want to volunteer to act,” the words vaguely rolled out of my tongue and I immediately regretted it as Mr Hrithik’s forehead creases into a frown. I lowered my gaze to the table and tapped my slender fingers on it while rolling my eyes.“I’m afraid you can’t, Nadia,” he declared. “Sin
Practice! Practice!Practice! I have been practicing for a hell of days now. Not just my balletdancing steps, I always have to learn ballroom dance, and Bollywood dance and getset for the rehearsal. The rehearsal was scheduled to take a month to beginbefore the main acting and I have used up to three weeks and a few days now.Just four days remaining. I took a final glance at the script in my handand inhaled deeply. I placed it down on the dressing table in my bedroom andembraced myself to begin practicing once again. I faced the mirror, staring atmy reflection.~Nadia as Nikki~I have to tell him. Ican’t watch the one I love be taken away from me,” Nikki said and turned awayfrom the mirror, taking a few steps forward before facing the mirror. “You cando this, Nikki. Vimal is not a stranger. You have known each other sincechildhood. Just tell him how you feel. Let it all out. Don’t let him slip offyour finger,” N
Nadia as Nikki’s POVI waited patiently on thebeach, waiting for Vimal. After a long pep talk to my reflection in the mirror,I braced up to open up to Vimal about how I felt about him. When I called him for usto meet up, he said he had a surprise for me too. I wonder what it is. Aftersome minutes of waiting, he finally showed up. He walked up to me and thehappiness that washed over me was indescribable. I hugged him as usual, beamingwith smiles.“I thought you wouldn’tshow up again,” I expressed. “Why wouldn’t I? Sorryfor the delay, I was stuck with something,” he replied. I swallowed my spit andtook hold of his hands. I inhaled deeply, staring into his charming deep blueeyes.“I want to tell yousomething, Vimal,” I said.“Okay, what is it?” heasked.“I… I know this…”“Shit!” he cuts in. “Mypresent is waiting, Nikki. Close your eyes for a minute,” he instructed. Ismiled and nodded. I c
The next day in the filmindustry. I embraced myself and entered, pretending that nothing happened. Isquared my shoulders and I walked with confidence till I was forced to dwindleby the set of people who flooded my front. Reporters. My eyes narrowed, staringat them with everyone just throwing out their questions at my face. I wasconfused till they stopped chattering into my ears and allowed one of them toask her question first.“What happened on thestage yesterday, Miss Nadia?” she asked, bringing her recording mic close to myface.“Tell us, Miss Nadia, whydid you scuttle off?” another question set in before I could even open mymouth. I was confused. It seemed they were demanding something and if Ididn’t give it, something bad might happen. I was scared.“She has nothing to say,”a baritone voice hit my ears and as I looked to my side, I met eyes with Sidd. What the heck? I rolled my eyes. His presence gave me
Veer’s POVI sat face to face withSiya in the living room. She came to visit me. We have been silent for a whilenow. I don’t know how to begin. I still love Nadia, no doubt. But I have to becommitted to Siya because she is carrying my child. She decided to make thefirst move as she came to sit beside me on the loveseat.“I… I’m sorry,” shemumbled, holding my hand. “It was all my fault. I shouldn’t have been stupidenough to reject your love in the first place. And I shouldn’t have takenadvantage of you when you were intoxicated,” she expressed. I couldn’t help butlaugh. “Veer?”“Sorry, my bad,” Ichuckled. “But it’s funny. Saying you took advantage of me sounds hilarious,” Isaid and burst out laughing again. She cuffed me on theshoulder. “Stop joking around.”“Fine, I would be seriousnow,” I chuckled and composed myself. “You know what, Siya. Truth be told, Idon’t feel anything for you anymore. When y
Nadia’s POVI ambled hand in handwith Veer down the street. He was keeping me company with a song. He sings sowell and I found myself melting at his voice. I was lost after some minutes, thinking of Sidd again. After that small gesture the last time, he has remainedthe same. I wonder how deep the bullet had penetrated his heart. Veer squeezed my hand, drawing my attention back to him. “Are you fine?” he asked, looking at me.I smiled and nodded.“Yeah, you sing so beautiful. Thank you,” I said.“Why are you thanking me?I am just doing my duty,” he said. I raised an eyebrow. “You don’t know being afiancé comes with lots of duties?”I laughed, leaningagainst his shoulder. “What duties?”“The duty of making youhappy and laugh like you are doing now,” he said.“You are just funny,” Ichuckled. “So, dutiful fiancé, I am hungry,” I faked a cry.“What? Then I am sostupid of a fiancé not to notice,” he
Nadia’s POVThe thought of Sidd outof danger and waking us soon filled my stomach with joy. I constantly foundmyself smiling, but still, I was sad deep down. If he wakes up, we will beback to how we used to be, hating and avoiding. It makes me sad.I was seated on the couchin the living room. Zeehan had his head on my lap while I ran my hands throughit.“Mummy?” Zeehan suddenlycalled, but didn’t raise his head. He seemed to be enjoying my fingers in hishair. “Yes, baby,” I replied.“Can’t I see my realDaddy?” he asked. My stomach flipped and myheart leaped to my throat. “W-what d-do you mean?” I fumbled.“I mean, if my dad isdead, can’t I see his picture? I just want to know him,” he said.Should I tell him?Doesn’t he deserve to know the truth now? If I didn’t tell him, sooner or later,he would still find out and get mad at me again. “Baby?” I called softly. “YourDaddy is… your daddy is
Nadia’s POVI woke up and didn’t seeHema. Where could she have gone this early? I yawned, stretching my handsabove my head while heading to the kitchen. Reaching the living room, the doorclicked open and I turned my eyes to it. Hema walked in and I smiled. The smileimmediately faded when I saw Veer trail behind her. He closed the door gently.“Good morning, Nadia,”Hema greeted me with a warm smile.I smiled back at her, ignoring Veer. “Good morning, Hema. You didn’t tell me you would be out early,”I said as she moved closer to me.“You were fast asleep, Ididn’t want to disturb you,” she replied. She leaned into my ear. “It was amistake, please forgive him,” she added with a reassuring smile and left thetwo of us. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.“Nadia?” Veer calledlowly, closing the distance between us. “I am sorry. I wouldn’t do anythingto…”“I know. You don’t haveto apologize, I know why
Nadia’s POVThere was an excruciatingpain waving across my heart as I dragged my feet on the cold street. I held myhigh heels in my hand like a mad woman. My hair cascaded over my shoulders withsome strands framing my forehead but damp from my sweat and tears. The windsurged into my body, making goosebumps grow on my skin. The sky was starry butno moon. The sounds of people chattering from a shop couldn’t pull my eyes toit. The smell of junk food filled my nose, but it never made my mouth waterylike before. I was overwhelmed. How could Veer cheat onme? Did he pay me back for sleeping with Sidd while engaged to him? I wouldtake it as a payback, but my heart was still pained. Yeah, I overheard hisconversation with Siya.FlashbackI was bored at home. Veerdidn’t come to visit as usual but he called me to tell me he was busy. Idecided to pay him a surprise visit. Vaani opened the door for me and told meVeer
Veer’s POVTwo days later. I wasbusy in my room, settling one and two deals on my laptop. These past weeks havebeen hectic with Zeehan missing and Sidd comatose. If I decide to do all thework at hand, I would be comatose too, honestly. “Hmph!” I sighed, thinkingabout Nadia. When she said she couldn’t wait for us to get married, I wasbaffled. I thought she was going to leave me for Sidd since she had been drawnto him in the past few days. Could it be because he took a bullet for Zeehan?Well, Nadia doesn’t know yet but I had planned with Sidd.FlashbackI stepped out of thehouse, about to enter the car to go to Nadia’s place when Sidd drove in. I wasboth angry and surprised that he visited me. If he was here to confront me, Iwould have fought him till one of us got knocked out.“What are you doing here?”I growled, shutting my car door and casting a glare dagger at him.“Calm down, okay? I’m nothere to figh
Siya’s POVI lay on the couch in theliving room with my hair cascading over the couch, and my hands entwined on mychest. I was sullen, my heart kept pit-a-patting as I anticipated the resultsof the pregnancy test I underwent. I just hope I am not pregnant for real thistime. A dull pain waved across my forehead and I winced, massaging my temple. “Miss Siya?” myhousekeeper, Ruchi called, walking around the couch to stand beside me. She washolding a cup. I glanced at her. “I brought you a cup of herbal tea, it willhelp you relax,” she said, stretching the cup to me. I tried forcing myself tosit up. “Be careful,” she said, hurriedly putting the tea on the coffee tableand returning to support me. She helped me sit up and I leaned my back againstthe headrest.“Thank you,” I mumbled. She got the tea from thetable and stretched it back to me. I collected it and took a sip. “Are you sureyou are okay? You don’t seem

I hope she accepts it and doesn’tend up throwing the cake and pushing us out of her house. The living room wasdecorated with colorful streamers, ribbons, balloons, and flowers. Her adorablethree-step cake sat atop a table in the middle of the room. The aroma ofsweets could be smelled. The over ten guests, including myself, weredressed in white and gold respectively.Pari had gone out basedon our plans with her mother. She sent her out to go buy something for herbirthday, even though she was reluctant to celebrate this time. The moment wesaw her entering the gate, we turned off the lights, leaving the whole livingroom dark, plus the kitchen. She entered, and we kept mute.“Mother? Why is theparlor dark?” Pari whined. She turned on the bulbs and behold,
Nadia’s POVI stood immobile. I wasshocked beyond word expression when Ria stretched a handgun to me to shooteither Zeehan or Sidd.“Take it from me, Nadia,”Ria groaned. I couldn’t even blink as I stared between Zeehan and Sidd. Siddwoke up earlier. “It’s either you shoot any of them or I would be forced toshoot both of them, starting from your little boy here,” she added andpressed a gun at Zeehan.“No!” I suddenly found myvoice.“Mummy!” Zeehan begancrying, tears trickling down his cheeks. Every drop shredded my heart. Icollected the gun from her.“You don’t have tochoose, Nadia. Go one, shoot me, and save your child,” Sidd said.More tears ran down mycheeks. I have indeed been trying to force myself out of loving Sidd, butkilling him was out of it. And my poor baby. He hasn’t even seen half of theworld yet. He hasn’t even attended school yet. No experience in life, how can Ishoot him? Bu
