~ Chapter 6 ~

Bobby walked out of the building and kept an eye on the time as he walked down the street.  He only needed a few things, everything was in the apartment; but he wanted a king size bed, a couch and his own sheets.  And on top of that, he wanted a bike, which he knew that Harley store wasn’t that far away.  And then on his first day off, he was going to take a drive down the coast and enjoy the most gorgeous beaches; and okay, maybe some bodies.

Although, he had some gorgeous eye catches at the bar.  That included his boss as well; something he still couldn’t quite wrap his mind around.  She was single, that much he knew; well divorced but there still wasn’t a man in her life.  And that he found out by over hearing a customer talking to her last night.  Not that he meant to listen in, but they were talking right by where he was making the drinks.

And that made him curious; why was she single?  She was smart, successful, driven, had a killer body.  Okay, she wasn’t overly young, but still could show anyone a thing or two.  So, why hadn’t anyone snapped her up?  And hell if he could figure out why this woman was on his mind.  He never thought of women like this.  He really was down and out.

He laughed as he walked into the bike shop.  He knew Troy would have a field day with this and something told him that Buzz and Troy were a lot closer than he thought.  Not that he had given away anything to Buzz, or to anyone, but he still thought about it.

He walked around the store, almost laughing to himself when a female sales associate walked up to him and asked if she could help him. What could he say, the ladies always came to him and he never had a problem with it.  After all, at the bar, women bought more than men.  You wouldn’t think it, of course, but those mixed drinks always cost more than a bottle of beer.  And so he was a pro at having those women around.

----

Two hours later, Bobby pulled up to the front of the bar and climbed off of his bike, rather proud of the baby that was his.  He looked up as the door opened and Buzz poked his head out, a smile on his face.

“Well, aint that a beauty.”  Bobby smiled back and nodded.

“And I have every intention of enjoying the rides I’ll have.”  Buzz shook his head at the innuendo that was there.

“The back is locked up, but when Jackie gets here, she can open it for you and you can park back there.”

“Thanks.  Let me go change and I’ll come down to help.”

“No worries; you got time before your shift starts.”

“Not like I have anything else to do.  And if I can help you out, I’m good for it.”

“You mean help Jackie out,” Buzz said, wiggling his brows.  Bobby shoved him as he walked through the door and up to his apartment.  Troy and Buzz were way too much alike.

15 minutes later, Bobby came back down the stairs and walked over to Buzz, who was flipping on the TV’s.

“There are games tonight, so the bar will get loud and rowdy.  On nights like tonight, we actually have two bouncers working,” Buzz said, nodding his head to the two men who came in.  “People like to get kind of pissy and hate listening.”

“Has Jackie, or anyone, ever had problems?”

“Once.  You replaced Amiee and she was the only other female bartender here.  Guess someone got upset their team lost and tried to hit on her.  When she told the guy to stop and he wouldn’t listen, Jackie grabbed her bat and wacked him once.  He actually back handed her, which then made her swing the bat into his dick.

“He tried yelling, saying he would go to the cops and she told him to go ahead for she had a room full of witnesses and video footage.”  At that, Buzz pointed to the cameras that were well hidden and that Bobby never picked up on.  “He hasn’t come back since, not that he would be allowed anyway.”

Bobby just looked at Buzz, not sure how to take that.  On one hand, he was proud of her for being able to stand up like that.  And on the other, he didn’t like the thought of anyone laying a hand on her.  Although, that went for any female and the fact that someone hit a woman was what he kept telling himself, not that they he hit Jackie.  He had to believe that.

“Well, at least she knows how to handle the crowd.”

“Jackie?  Big time.  She’s a brat when she’s pissed and a walking time bomb.  So, if you happen to come across her when she is, be very careful.”

“Duly noted.”  Bobby nodded and then went behind the bar; opening the bottles that had been sealed and grabbed a towel right as Buzz unlocked the door.  But it wasn’t a crowd that walked through the door, it was Jackie and by the clenched jaw, the narrowed eyes and hands clenched in fists, she was ready to spit nails.

“Jackie,” Buzz called out, stopping her in her tracks, “what happened?”

“That mother fucking, no good asshole is bailing on Sam and Dylan again.  I needed this weekend, there were things I was going to do here and things I was going to take care of at home.  You know my plumbing is giving me issues.  And I was going to try and fix that.

“But no, fucktard said him and his new fuck toy needed a weekend alone; like they don’t spend every God damn weekend alone.  Now,” before she could say the next part, a few customers came in and she stopped her rant.  Buzz caught Bobby’s eye and he waved them to the back room, letting Buzz know he could handle everything while Buzz helped Jackie cool off.

And Buzz was right; Bobby did not want to cross paths with Jackie when she was like that.  She was likely to deck someone and he was okay with it not being him.  In fact, he wouldn’t mind finding her ex husband and bringing him in so she could swat at him.  Guy sounded like an asshole so he would probably deserve it anyway.

After a good ten minutes, Buzz walked out of the office and went to his bar outside.  Crap, he was leaving him with Jackie, when she was like that!  He groaned to himself, not sure he could handle having her breathe down his neck.  But when she walked behind the bar with him, she was not as pissy, but her smile didn’t reach her eyes, like he liked.

“You gonna be okay?” he asked softly.  She tilted her head as she regarded him and gave him a soft smile.

“Yeah, thanks.  And I’m sorry; you didn’t need to hear me bitch like that.”

                “Because you’re my boss?”

“Yes, that was very wrong of me.”

“No worries, aren’t we more like a family around here?”  She laughed and he had to shift again to avoid the pain in his jeans.  He had no idea why he uttered that when that was the last thought in his mind when it came to her.

Jackie watched Bobby for a moment while she had a slow stream of customers and really had to give him props; he knew his stuff. And yes, knew how to wow the crowd, in other words, how to flirt and be amazing eye candy. And damn, how she wished she was younger and had a body like those younger girls, for she could admit she wouldn’t mind catching his eye. She sighed to herself, though, knowing this was all a useless train of thought. “Hey hot stuff.” Her head snapped up and she smiled at the young man before her on the other side of the bar. Now, she knew she didn’t look her age, but never thought she’d see men in their 20’s hitting on her. “Hey, what can I get you?” &n

That night, after she locked up and counted the money and put it away to be deposited, she sat at her desk, hearing the man above her moving around. She couldn’t say the kiss felt wrong, because it didn’t. But it was, for a few reasons. For one, she was his boss. Not that that was a big thing in her book. She worked under the thought that as long as the atmosphere and work environment was okay, you could do whatever. But she didn’t know where he stood and what his thoughts were. Two, the 12 year age gap; he was sexy and good looking and why in the world would he even look at her? It was obvious many females were eyeing her new bartender and that was great, and she knew she held no candle to those young sexy lines and curves. Not that she looked ol

Well, shit, she walked out to talk to him, not to admire the new bike. But how could she not when the black and blue body paint was calling out to her? And the moment that her leg went over the side and she sat down, she had quite a few images come to mind, and none of them was about talking. That wasn’t good! So, she took what little will power she had, climbed off the bike and faced him. They needed to have this talk; okay, she needed to have this talk. “Can we talk?” His gaze narrowed slightly at her but he nodded. “About last night...” “That hot ass kiss?” She couldn’t help but blush, which made her only curse at herself. She wasn’t a fucking virgin or someone who didn’t know her way around. &n

Jackie cleaned up around her house, her thoughts focused on one man and for the first time, it wasn’t that jackass of an ex husband. No, maybe thinking of him would be easier, but nope, her thoughts were focused on Bobby. And she wanted to yell. She knew it wasn’t fair, but for the moment, she was going to dwell on it. To her, the funny part about all of it, in fact, was that she had already had this talk with herself. She knew she couldn’t get involved with that man, so why be upset? Jackie sighed as she put the last plate away. She wasn’t dumb, she knew the emotion. And as much as she hated to admit it, it was straight out jealousy. Bobby did things to her body that she had long forgotten. And the bad part about all of it was that she knew

Bobby wasn’t usually a pissed off type of guy, but Monday, when he woke up he was pissed and moody and needed to get laid. Or punch the shit out of something. And since he didn’t think he was going to get laid soon, thanks to the damn images, he thought punching would be best. So he slipped on some basketball shorts and a tank top and headed out to the gym he saw the other day. At least he should be thankful that he didn’t have to see her tonight, for she didn’t need to come in. And he liked that she was able to spend more time with those kids, although the thought angered him. He paused at that; okay, maybe he wanted it to. He didn’t want to think about her or those kids. He pulled into a spot with a huff and walked into the gym. Usually it wasn’

“Greg, what are you doing here?” Buzz asked as he moved between Bobby and Greg. “I’m looking for Jackie.” “She’s not here, but come with me.” Buzz started leading the man away but quickly glanced at Bobby and pointed to the beach. “Take a walk,” he told him. “Right.” Bobby finished his beer and tossed it into the trash can before he headed out on the beach. He let out a breath as he walked along for a few minutes before he finally plopped his ass down in the sand. He knew he had no claim to Jackie, but he couldn’t even being to describe why he had such a problem with her ex. And for all his bad ass ways, he wasn’t really the type to start trouble. Bu

She locked the door after she had flipped the lights on, checking the bars to see what she needed to grab before she opened. Jackie paused on her way to the stock room, though, as she smelled something. She turned around and saw Bobby coming in the back way, a bag in his hand. “Are you just getting back?” she questioned him, knowing that had been a good four hours since she’d seen him at the beach. He stopped in his tracks and looked up at her and then looked her over. “What? Oh, no. I went to grab something to eat.” His eyes traveled over her once more before he turned to a nearby table. &nbs

Jackie watched him go and then turned her gaze to Justin, lifting a brow at him. He grinned and held up his hands, smirking the whole time. Jackie could only shake her head, still trying to figure out exactly why Bobby would be upset at Justin’s harmless flirting, well to her. It couldn’t be over the fact that Justin was flirting, after all, Bobby had flirted with her as well. She frowned as she wiped down her section and went out to the floor to wipe down some of the tables. She chewed on her lips as she thought over everything while she picked up some of the empty bottles, her thoughts tumbling around like a washing machine cycle. Yes, she had the talk with herself that this thing with Bobby wasn’t right and she needed to stay away. But on the flip side, she also knew that something was attracting them. And it

“Jackie, you’ve made bail, you’re free to go.” Jackie nodded at the guard as he opened the jail cell door and let her walk out. “How about we don’t use the bat next time?” he told her and she shrugged. “Hey, officer, I don’t take kindly to having someone grab my ass,” Jackie told him as she walked out, she didn’t add though, that her temper was at the shortest it’s been as well. She swallowed hard as she saw the man who was waiting at the desk, his arms crossed. “You’re a violent woman, Jackie.” “And yet, Greg, you still want to piss me off, even more so now with my temper on such short fuses.” “Yeah, about that, Jackie.” He held up open the car door for her and she raised a brow. The last person she wanted to call was Greg to come help her, but Buzz was working, as was Justin, and she just had no one else she could call. “What about it, Greg?” “Anyone with half a brain can see that you’re not h

Jackie pulled the napkin off the table and put it over her lap as Bobby brought the plates out. He hadn’t cooked much for her, a meal or two here or there, but from that she had caught on was that he was a pretty decent cook. Not that Jackie should be surprised by that. Though she might have babied him some, Cat did raise a strong and confident man, one who knew how to live on his own. “It looks good, Bobby,” Cat said, eyeing the Fettuccine Alfredo. “Thanks, someone gave me a really good recipe and I’m glad I’m finally able to put it to good use,” he told her, tossing a wink at Jackie, which made her duck her head. The movement, however, didn’t go unnoticed by Cat. “You know, Jackie,” Cat started as she took a piece of bread and dunked it in her sauce, “I know my Bobby was a player, I didn’t like it, but what could I say, you know? So it’s really nice to see him settle down with a woman like you. Someone who has her head on

Val moaned as she reached her hands down to run through Vinny’s hair, tugging on the strands as he kissed his way over her legs and straight to her center. How the hell she was wet for him again after they had another three rounds the night before was a mystery to her. But she was and his tongue was tasting everything she had to offer. Had someone told her she would be an insatiable lover with her husband, she would have laughed. Not at the thought of having sex, but of being in the need constantly. Or maybe it was just Vinny that did that to her. “Vinny,” she whimpered as she felt his tongue slide into her and her legs feel open even more. She looked down at him as he looked up at her and she saw the devil playing there. “What?” he asked as his tongue moved to her clit. He rolled his tongue around it before he pulled it into his mouth and her hips jerked up. He chuckled as he slipped two fingers into her and curled them upwards. “Oh fucking hell,

Jackie sat down on the bench at the park, her head tipped back to enjoy the sun. It was a wonderful afternoon and she almost didn’t want to go to work tonight. In fact, she wished she had brought the kids to the park rather than come alone to meet him, but Greg had messaged her and asked to talk, just like he said he would at the ice cream place. Against her better judgment, of course, she agreed to do it. She was hoping he was coming to apologize about his behavior with his kids, although she knew that was wishful thinking on her part. Her eyes scanned the clouds, smiling as she picked out random shapes. She remembered when she would do that when the kids were younger and how they always laughed with glee. She shook her head to clear it and turned as she heard the approaching footsteps. Greg walked up to her, smiling slightly. “Hey, Jackie.” He sat down on the picnic table next to her and she lifted a brow. “Hey, Greg.” “Remember when Sam was just a few years old and we would com

Jackie glanced tapped her nails on the table outside as she watched the road, her stomach turning inside out. She trusted the man with her babies, she did, but her kids on a bike scared the crap out of her. And Jackie had been on it with Bobby, knew that he was a damn good driver. But, still, she couldn’t help but wonder if she should have said no when Dylan pleaded with her to ride. “Mom?” Jackie turned her head to look at her daughter, her brows raised. “It will be okay, you don’t need to worry.” Jackie knew that, she did, she just couldn’t help it. For the last two weeks, things had been good between her and Bobby, and the kids. He had come over a couple of nights for dinner, they had gone over to his house one night to play games and chill. He was making an effort to actually bond with them, and it was sweet. And they both decided that an ice cream treat was another good way to bond. Jackie had Sam with her and Bobby had offered to pick up Dylan. And that

He watched her, watched as she cleaned up her area, watched as she leaned over to talk to Justin and placed her hand on his arm, and he watched as she walked over to a table and sat down with the guy, full of smiles. He hated it and he was fighting hard not to scream or punch someone. And he knew, fucking hell did he know, this was on his head. She wasn’t dumb; she could probably have sensed he was pulling away, even if it wasn’t bad or a lot, and even if he didn’t mean to. Because he really wasn’t, he just needed a moment to clear his head, to work things through, not end what they had. He tapped his fingers on the bar as he watched them. He knew he wasn’t being rational, but then he had watched her all night, and with all the flirting, the smiles she gave out, and all the men checking her out, he was past rational. Just because he called her girlfriend didn’t mean he had the right to own her, he knew that. But hell, he was struggling watching her be th

Knowing him, he was probably checking his grade on some assignment or test. He walked to the bar and put his stuff away before turning to look at her, and he stopped in his tracks. “Damn Jackie, you really have some amazing legs, do you know that?” She glanced down at them and then shrugged. “She does, I rather enjoy looking at them.” She glanced over her shoulder at Bobby as he walked up behind her and smiled. She gave him a small one in return. She wasn’t sure what was going on, but over the last two days, she had called him; once when she was at the beach with the kids and the second time was at night when she couldn’t sleep and she knew he was getting off. Both times were good calls, but she felt he wasn’t himself and that had her worried. “Well, they go

“Are you sure you don’t want to stay?” Jackie asked as she watched him grab his bag once they got back to her place. He didn’t want to leave, but he was more than unsettled and he needed to think. The time with the kids had been great, he did enjoy them, he really did, but Dylan’s comment really left him a little flustered. “Yeah, I don’t want to intrude on your time with them, you know that.” He paused as he looked at her; that was the truth too. He didn’t want to take away from those kids, and they just had a shit blow handed to them earlier in the day. Right now, they needed the comfort of their mom and not a stranger, even if they were comfortable with him. “That’s rather admirable of you,” she teased him and he smiled. “I’ll call you later,” she said and he nodded. “I’m looking forward to it.” He gave her a kiss along with a wink before he walked out, the kids fast asleep. He climbed on his bike and waved at her as she stood

Jackie glanced at Bobby, her hand rubbing his back. They both knew exactly what the call was over, a rather sad fact and one she couldn’t ignore. She turned around and answered the phone while his arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her back to his chest. She couldn’t fight the smile, even as she hit the green icon and brought the phone to her ear. “Yes, Greg?” she mumbled, rubbing her eyes with her free hand. “Are you awake?” “I wasn’t since it was a late night at the bar but your call woke me up. What can I do for you?” “We have a problem.” Those words, how she hated them; she had heard them countless times before. Her smile vanished and she sat up, not meaning to shove the arm away but she couldn’t think when he was holding her. “What do you mean, WE have a problem? We don’t have a problem, however, you do it sounds like?” “Do you have to be that way?” he grumbled and she grinned.
