Device Testing

It's Celine's fifth day in the year 2030 but the testing is about to start. Drake is a real genius. He was able to build the time travel gadget from the year 2021. All they have to do is to apply the technology in the future and it should be ready for testing.

Since they are already in the future, it doesn't take long before the technology is already applied to the device. It looks like a smartphone with the ability to make calls and time travel. Dr. Cole made the device that way in case of any unforeseen events during the time travel.

Celine is still trying to settle this year but now, they have to go back to the present time. But of course, they are still going back to the future to start the mass creation of the device. Currently, they only have two since it's only for testing purposes. That means Chad has to stay in the lab to monitor the wormhole.

They are using the same wormhole that Drake is using for the time machine that looks like an elevator. But this time, the device will create another direction. That's how they can go back to the past. They need to go to the present time before going to the past. That's what Drake needs to change from the present time.

The portable time travel device needs to have the ability to go back and forth in time without going back to the present. But according to Drake, the answer is in the present time. They have to observe how to create a wormhole that will go directly on the year you want to go. 

"Chad, make sure to have our avatars look as if they're working in the lab. We don't want the authorities to be suspicious of what we're doing." Drake instructed.

"Sure, they can help me to monitor the wormhole while you travel in time. Don't worry about it, Drake!" Chad replied.

"Celine, are you ready to go back to the present?" Drake asked.

Celine nodded even if she didn't mean it. She knows that when she goes back to 2021, it will remind her of Derek. But she wants to be a part of this testing. She will try her best not to be affected by traveling through time.

"Alright, let's go back to my crappy lab then!" Drake suggested and tapped the confirm button.

"Take care of yourself, Chad! I will see you soon!" Celine told him and also tapped confirm.

Drake is already trying to disassemble the device on his lab chair when Celine arrives. She checks the screen on the device and the date changes. It's the year 2021 once again and when she looks around her, the lab is small again. That means that they're back.

"Any feeling of nausea or dizziness?" Drake asked.

"No, I feel fine," Celine responded.

She realized that he's not worried about her when Drake writes on his notes. He's just recording the effects of going back in time. Although he didn't ask when they went to the future. Maybe because they are using this device now. They are testing it so he's taking notes. Then he realized that she should be the one doing that!

"Drake, let me write down the notes." She told him and tried to grab his notebook.

"No, these are my notes! Go get your own from that drawer. " Drake suggested.

Celine shot him a puzzled look but opened the drawer. She found a couple of unused notebooks and pens inside and started writing. It's a must that she takes down her observation as well. They will use that for developing the time travel device.

Her note reads:

Back to the year 2021. 

No sign of dizziness or nausea. 

Subjects are still functioning normally.

My depressed state is back…

Celine stopped writing and realized that she felt depressed again. She concluded that emotions have to do with time. Everything is good in the year 2030. But the moment they get back to the year 2021, she feels sad again. 

"Celine, are you alright? Drake asked.

She almost didn't hear it because Drake asked that question softly. 

" I'm fine but I feel sad again." She told him the truth because it may help their testing.

"Time can make you remember or forget." He seems to narrate a quote.

"Yeah, in this case, it made me remember everything." She replied in a sad tone.

Drake stares at her for a while and goes back to what he's doing. He was able to put back everything again.

"Give me back your device. We will go to the past tomorrow. Those emotions will not be present when you go back to the past." Drake takes the device from her hand. 

"Will my memories be erased too?" She asked.

"No, but you will not feel the same emotions when it hasn't even happened yet," Drake replied as he disassembled her device. 

She's more convinced that Drake is a genius. But the problem is that he's still as cold as ice. He seems not to have any emotions whether they are in the present or future. Now she's curious if he will still be the same during the past. Maybe she will know about it tomorrow.

"There you go! I have fixed the issue of why we can't go directly to another time." Drake hands her the device. 

Celine takes it from his hand and she almost drops it when it rings. She almost forgot about the call feature of this device. She accepted the call and answered.

"Hello?" She asked.

"Celine, this is Chad from the future! How's your time travel?" Chad asked.

"We arrived safely. Wait, Drake wants to talk to you." She gives it to Dake since she's afraid his eyes might pop out 

Drake put the device in the loudspeaker. She didn't know it also has that feature. The two guys talk about the wormhole. It seems that they were able to create another route from it. But they still need to travel to the past so that they can create another one.
