Asher

The battlefield was eerily silent now, the only sounds the occasional rustle of the wind and the faint groans of the dying. Brooke stood at the center of it all, the weight of defeat etched across her face.

I moved toward her slowly, my boots crunching against the blood-soaked ground. Her eyes darted to the bodies of her fallen hybrids, then back to me. There was a crack in her usual mask of arrogance, a flicker of realization that she was alone. Vulnerable.

I circled her like a predator, my steps deliberate, each one bringing me closer. Her breathing quickened, her composure fraying. For a moment, she looked almost human. Almost weak.

“You’re starting to understand, aren’t you?” I said, my voice low and cold. “The inevitability of this. The end of everything you’ve built.”

Brooke’s jaw tightened, but she said nothing. Her silence spoke volumes.

“Jamie, Corey,” I called over my shoulder, my tone sharp. “Chain her up. Lock her in the cage.”

Her head snapped toward me, i

Asher My heart felt heavy, as though it carried the weight of all the pain and betrayal that had brought us to this moment. Brooke knelt before me, her face defiant yet tinged with something akin to acceptance—or was it manipulation? I couldn't tell anymore. My claws gleamed in the faint light, my hand poised to strike the final blow. Her death would end this nightmare, this endless cycle of suffering she had unleashed. But just as I prepared to swing, a flash of something deep within me held me back. She wasn’t just Brooke, the villain who had tormented my life. She was Brooke, the woman I had once called "Mother." This memory came unbidden, sharp and vivid. I was no older than six, hiding in the corner of my room, trembling after Alpha Ian's voice had thundered through the pack house. “Asher, get out here now!” my father roared, his heavy footsteps echoing closer. I had accidentally spilled ink on one of his precious ledgers, and he was furious. I cowered, tears streakin

Asher The battlefield was chaos incarnate. The snarls of wolves clashing with hybrids, the metallic clang of weapons, and the agonizing cries of the injured filled the air. Blood soaked the ground beneath our feet, mixing with the dirt to form a dark, viscous muck. Brooke’s hybrids came at us like a wave, relentless and deadly, their monstrous forms twisting in the dim light. My men had shifted into their wolf forms, tearing through the enemies with raw ferocity. Beside them, Jude’s hybrids moved with precision, their weapons cutting down foes in efficient, almost clinical strikes. They didn’t shift—not because they couldn’t, but because they refused. They had sworn an oath to never let their wolf forms take over, to never let the monster within consume them again. “Jude!” I roared above the fray, my voice cutting through the chaos. “Take the front line. Protect the wolves—they can’t withstand hybrid bites!” Jude didn’t hesitate. He motioned to his men, who quickly donned t

Malia The days following Brooke's death had been a blur. It had been a week since Asher tore out her heart, ending her reign of terror, and yet the aftermath was far from settled. Her hybrids were gone, their numbers obliterated in the fight, but her influence still lingered like a shadow. News of her death spread quickly, and with it came the fallout. Avan and Savannah, along with the others who had betrayed Asher, were finally captured. They had been dragged back to the manor, their heads low with shame, awaiting whatever judgment Asher deemed fit. But Asher himself was a ghost of the man I had known. He had disappeared into himself, avoiding everyone, especially me. I hadn’t seen or spoken to him since that day on the battlefield. I understood why—killing Brooke, his mother, no matter how twisted she had been, must have left a wound far deeper than any physical scar. Still, the silence weighed on me. Every day that passed without hearing his voice felt like another crack in

MaliaHis kiss was fierce, desperate, and overwhelming, his hands gripping my waist as though he couldn’t bear to let go. For a moment, I froze, stunned by the sudden intensity, but then my body betrayed me, and I kissed him back just as passionately. My hands found their way to his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart beneath my fingers. Every ounce of pain and longing I’d carried for the past week seemed to melt away, replaced by a warmth I couldn’t deny. When we finally broke apart, both of us were breathless. He rested his forehead against mine, his voice low and raw. “I couldn’t stay away any longer.”I should’ve pushed him away. I should’ve told him how hurt I’d been by his coldness, but instead, I melted into him. His hands gripped my waist as he pressed me against the wall, his heat overwhelming my senses. Every pent-up emotion—his guilt, my anger, our mutual longing—poured into that kiss. Before I knew it, he was lifting me onto his desk, his mouth never leaving mine.

Malia I stormed out of Asher’s office, the sting of regret biting harder with every step. My mind raced, a whirlwind of self-reproach. How could I have let that happen? I scolded myself, fists clenched at my sides. He locked me up, didn’t trust me enough to stand by his side, and then had the audacity to give me the cold shoulder for days because he couldn’t handle the fact that he killed his mother to protect me. And yet, I still gave in to him. I felt cheap. Weak. Like I’d betrayed myself. All I wanted was for him to trust me, just once, to treat me like his equal, to open up about what was going on in his head instead of pushing me away whenever things got tough. But no—he kept everything locked up behind those icy walls of his. And I let him walk all over me. Again. The cool air outside the building hit me, a sharp contrast to the suffocating heat of my frustration. I needed space, distance—anything to clear my mind. But as I took another step, I felt a firm grip wrap aroun

Malia The area was quiet now, with only a few pack members passing through, their curious gazes flickering toward us. I had barely taken a few steps when Asher’s hand caught my wrist. Not harshly—this time, his touch was softer, almost pleading. “Malia,” he said, his voice raw, almost hoarse. “Please, don’t walk away.” I turned to face him, my arms crossed tightly over my chest. The fire of frustration still burned in me, but seeing him like this—so open, so vulnerable—made it flicker. For a moment. “What, Asher?” I asked, my tone sharper than I intended. “What could you possibly say that you haven’t already shown me through your actions?” “I need you to understand why I did it,” he said, stepping closer, his grip tightening ever so slightly. “Why I locked you up before the fight.” I scoffed. “Because you don’t trust me. You don’t believe in me, in my strength—” “No,” he interrupted, his voice rising slightly before softening again. “That’s not it. It was never about trus

After a beat of silence, he finally cleared his throat. “I didn’t come here to meddle in your personal life,” he said, his tone dry. “I actually came to let you know I’ll be leaving for a while.” Asher straightened, his brows drawing together. “Leaving? Where are you going?” “There’s an important meeting I need to attend in another state,” Jude replied, adjusting his jacket as though trying to deflect attention from the gravity of his words. “For how long?” Asher asked, his voice dipping with concern. “A few weeks. Maybe more... or I might not come back for months. It depends.” Jude said. Asher’s brow furrowed, his initial surprise giving way to something softer, almost pained. “Months?” he echoed. “I thought… I thought we’d have some time. I should honor you before you go,” Asher said, still holding my hand as he moved closer to his father. “Asher…”“I know you have somewhere to be, but can't it wait one more day? I'll throw a party tonight and then tomorrow first thing in the morning you can be on your way.” I glanced at Jude, expecting him to brush it off, but something in his face shifted. He looked at Asher like he was seeing him in a way he hadn’t before. “I don’t need a party,” Jude said gruffly. “It’s not about what you need,” Asher pushed. “It’s about what you deserve.” For a moment, I thought Jude would argue, but then he let out a long, tired sigh. “Fine,” he said, his voice heavy with reluctance. “But don’t expect me to make a speech or anything.” Asher nodded, his lips curving into a small, rare smile. “Deal.” Asher smiled and w

There was blood on my hands. And Ronin and Corey were staring at me like I had just walked out of a massacre. There was no way I could explain this away.I tried to think of something—anything—but my mind was blank.A long, agonizing silence stretched between us.Then—I felt a spark. Not in my mind. Not in my chest. But on my tooth.I felt it—a tiny shock against the gem Jude had put there. And suddenly, the words came out.I lied.“I—I saw someone coming down here,” I said, my voice steady in a way that startled even me. “I was curious. I wanted to see what they were doing.”Ronin's eyes narrowed. “And that led to five guards unconscious at your feet?”I nodded. “I went down, but before I could even figure out what was happening, the guards stopped me. Stop right there!”I cursed under my breath and spun around.Five men stood between me and freedom, their bodies tense, their hands already moving toward their weapons.Guards.Shit!One of them stepped forward, narrowing his eyes at me.“What are you doing down here?”I forced my expression into one of confusion, schooling my features into something innocent.“I—uh—I got lost?”His eyes darkened. “Lost?”“Yes,” I said quickly, nodding. “I was looking for the storeroom, and I must have taken a wrong turn. MaliaI froze.Asher was awake. And he was looking right at me.His dull, golden eyes locked onto mine, flickering with something raw—hope, desperation, disbelief. For a moment, he simply stared, his chest rising and falling with uneven breaths. Then, as if afraid I would disappear if he didn’t move fast enough, he crawled toward me.His frail hands dragged against the cold, filthy floor, scraping against the stone. His once-mighty frame, now nothing but skin and bones, trembled with the effort. He barely spared a glance at the rotting food beside him as he reached for me.His fingers, dirty and trembling, brushed against my hand.I flinched. It was instinctual, but it was enough.Asher stilled, his expression crumbling. His hands dropped to his sides, and his shoulders sagged like the weight of the world had just crashed down on him.“I know,” he whispered, his voice raspy and broken. “I know I’m a monster.”I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.He swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple

MaliaI had been so lost in thought that I didn't realise that Nina was still talking to me. I listened to her last words and figured out something to say in response, so I exhaled, trying to steady myself before speaking. "Nina… I heard that the woman who accused Corey of assault wasn’t even real. She was a witch. She used Malia's image to frame him."Nina's breath hitched, and her expression hardened. She nodded slowly. "I know." Her voice was quiet but firm.I hesitated. "I also heard that while that was happening, the real Malia was captured."She sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Yeah, I know that too."The silence stretched between us for a moment, filled only by Asher’s slow, shallow breathing from the other side of the bars. Then, Nina exhaled sharply, pressing her fingers against her temples. "Asher was wrong to have killed Corey," she admitted, shaking her head. "So wrong. I mean, I get it—he thought Malia was attacked, and he reacted. But…" She looked away, as if st

Her voice held a hint of impatience, a flicker of the urgency that had driven us here."Me going in there," I clarified, the words rasping out. I crossed my arms, a defensive posture that mirrored the turmoil churning within me. "I’m not exactly great at sneaking in and out of places, and if I get caught, it could ruin everything. You should go alone." My gaze flickered towards the heavy, iron-bound door at the end of the corridor, a dark maw leading into the depths of the school's underbelly. For a moment, Nina looked like she wanted to argue, her lips tightening into a thin line. I could see the protest forming on her tongue, the logical counterpoints she was about to unleash. But then, she sighed, a long, drawn-out exhale that spoke of reluctant acceptance. She nodded, the motion sharp and decisive. "Fine. I’ll do it myself."That shoul

MaliaAs I stepped out of Ronin’s office, the air outside felt lighter, but my mind was anything but. My thoughts churned, replaying the conversation over and over. Why hadn’t I corrected Jude when he got my age wrong? It should’ve been an easy fix, something I could have said in the moment without any real consequence. And yet, I hadn’t. I guess I was just so overwhelmed and charged up after that kiss with Ronin that I also momentarily forgot that Lia isn't really seventeen. But in my case it's understandable that I would forget, after all, I'm not the mastermind behind the plan. What was Jude's excuse? But then, I came to the realization that Jude wasn’t the type to make mistakes. Not with something as important as that.He sat me down and drilled every possible detail about Lia into my head, making sure I was ready to live as her without suspicion. But despite all of that, he had conveniently made an error about my age?I scoffed under my breath.No. That wasn’t a mistake.Jude mu

His hands were still pressed together on the desk, fingers interlocked, but I could see the tension in them—the slight twitch of his thumb, the way his knuckles had turned just a shade paler. He was angry.Fine. So was I.“Why are you acting so reckless?” he asked suddenly, his voice low but sharp.I raised an eyebrow. “Reckless?”“Yes.” He leaned forward slightly, his silver eyes locking onto mine. “I thought you were a gentle girl. That was what I liked most about you.”For a second, I just stared at him. Liked? Past tense?A small, bitter laugh escaped me. “I am gentle, Ronin.” I tilted my head. “But if that was all there was to me, I’d be a boring, one-dimensional person.” I let my lips curl into a smirk. “Which I’m not.”Ronin’s jaw tightened. He exhaled through his nose, as if trying to calm himself, but his fingers flexed against the desk like he was fighting the urge to snap it in half.“The real issue,” I

A few students snickered, others whispered behind their hands, and instantly, I knew something was wrong.Swallowing my irritation, I forced my expression into indifference. “Good morning, Alpha Ronin,” I said stiffly, before turning to the teacher. “Good morning, Miss Harper.”Miss Harper gave me a tight-lipped nod, her discomfort clear. He thought he had me right where he wanted me. “Alright then,” he said, eyes gleaming. “What’s the relationship status of each of Asher’s friends?”I knew exactly what he was trying to do—trip me up with details only a true insider would know. But if he thought I’d hesitate, he was dead wrong.“Nina,” I started, “was Asher’s childhood friend. They grew up together, always close, though not in a romantic way.” I tilted my head. “She cared for him deeply, but Asher never saw her that way. Eventually,
