Joana found a large blue book one day titled ‘the council of five.’ She didn’t know if it was the right one, but she hoped it would be as she felt her eyes were going to fall out any moment over the countless number of texts she had to read for the past few months before she was able to find this one.
She opened it and began to read what it said, it mentioned the supreme council, describing their glory as gods and all they had done to bring the mortal and immortal realms into existence. She had read something similar to this in other books but what she really needed to find was how she could locate them. She kept on reading for a while until she finally thought she found what she was looking for. She read a chapter that talked about the journey to the heart of mother nature, the center of the earth, the five ancient stones surrounding the middle. the middle representing the heart, and the stones representing the council of five. She wondered if that was where she wShe then felt a thick array of fog surrounding her, the fog went round and round her until she felt it begin to lift her up. It lifted her from the ground and took her to the skies, as fast as the speed of lightning. She tried to break free from its grasp, but as light as the fog was, if felt as if a large hand was holding her tightly. The fog finally dropped her in an opening. Surrounding her was not the five large stones anymore, but each member of the council of five, seated on their thrones.“Are you the one who summoned us?” One of them, the first member said to her.“Yes,” Joana said nervously.“And why did you do so?”“I came here before, in a first life,” she said. “And I have come again to ask of the same thing I asked for the last time I came here. I want my mortal life back.”“Oh, I remember you now,” the third member said. “You are Marylin Lou, the one who loved that human boy.”“Yes,” Joana said.“We had an agreem
Suddenly, she spotted a dark figure flying towards where she was. She squinted her eyes further and saw that it was Derick! She couldn’t believe herself but she never thought that she would be so happy to see him. He landed between where she lay and the hungry pack of wolves. The wolves upon seeing him, began to charge at him with full force. Joana, who felt scared that they would kill him, tried to stand up to help him. Much to her surprise, he didn’t need her help. One by one, he began tearing them to pieces with his fangs and claws as they were coming, she watched him as he fought down the pack effortlessly, showing them no mercy as they kept charging.Joana watched him as he battled in front of her, not letting any of the wolves get to where she was, the blood of his opponents dripping down from his mouth, staining his hands and his chest. Not minding the situation, she imagined how delicious it would taste if she licked it off him. Ugh get a grip girl.He had
Joana sat at the library sulking as she stared at the books in front of her. She couldn’t believe that she had to go back to reading again as Dana, Derick and the other coven members didn’t know where to find the other three ingredients except the pixie dust, and of course, her immortal blood. To make things worse, she had been having a lot of strange dreams about her and Derick, she tried everything within her power to make them stop. She tried to avoid him as much as she could and even suspended her training with him but none of these seemed to solve the problem. She had already spent so much time on her quest, and at this point, she didn’t know what to do anymore. She was so deep in thought that she didn’t even notice when Derick entered the room.“Hey,” he said, startling her. “Have you been able to find anything?”“No,” she said. “It’s like whenever I see a solution, like the pixie diary or the supreme council, I go for it thinking that I’m one step closer
“But why?” Derick said. “I don’t know why you’re being so paranoid over a kiss. Why do you think I would ever want to come between your relationship with your boyfriend?”“Um, I don’t know, maybe it’s because we were once together!” She said, increasing her voice.“Look, I don’t know whatever Edmund told you but my relationship with Marylin had nothing to do with you, and you had no right to bring it up. If I wanted to come between you and your boyfriend, I wouldn’t have bothered to help you get back home at all. I even talked to Dana to help out because I wanted in my heart for you to go back home safely. Everyone in the coven was mad at you for wanting to leave again, but I was the only one who still stood by your decision because it was what you wanted and what would truly make you happy.“And don’t worry, if you really want us to stay away from each other from now on then fine, have it your way. I won’t be there to distract you anymore. Good luck in your que
The first ingredient: Waters from the evergreen river. They also call it the river of truth, place your hand into it, let her waters show you the hidden memories you thought had been lost foreverOpen your heart, let the river choose. To the wicked of heart, stay far away from it, and do not come to this river thinking to use it for evil deeds, as not only will you not be able to see it, but as light as the river may be, it will not hesitate to drown you the oppressor, this river will consume you, the way it has consumed others before, like a cheetah goes after its prey, it comes after you with an angry wave, and once you prove that you’re a snake she’ll drown you in her mighty lake.To the good of heart, come closer, her waters welcome you with open arms, receive healing, receive strength, receive the power to continue in your good ways, this river blesses you, the way it has blessed others before. In her waters deep and true, lies the answers you seek, let her wat
Knock-knock-knock “Come in,” Dana said in response to the knock she heard on her room door. She saw Joana walk through the door and welcomed her in.“Oh, hey Joana, how are you today?”“I’m good,” Joana said. “What’s up? I haven’t been seeing so much of you lately.”“Oh well yes, I’ve just been in my room, nothing much. Is there something you want to talk to me about?”“Yes, I had an argument with Derick,” Joana said immediately.“About what?” Dana asked her surprisingly.“I’m a bit nervous to talk about what happened, we had a fight over something and I told him that we shouldn’t be around each other anymore. I feel bad for the things I said to him, and I feel weird going to meet him alone, but I came to you to see if you could maybe talk to him for me.”“I don’t know,” Dana said. “Derick isn’t the type to get angry over things easily, I need to know what really happened so I can know how to approach this better.”“I don’t kno
“I’m sorry,” Joana said. “I just didn’t want to put you in an uncomfortable position, that was why I thought bringing Dana here would make things a bit better.”“So, you’re indirectly saying you’re scared I won’t be able to control the feelings I have for you?”“No Derick, you know it isn’t like that.”“Then tell me what it is, are you afraid of being alone with me now? Are you scared something will happen?”“That’s enough Derick,” Dana interrupted much to Joana’s relief. “I didn’t call you here so that both of you would start another argument, I want us to live in peace, you know that Joana won’t be with us for very long and instead of spending the time she has here fighting, you both should be trying to make memories.”Joana might have been happy that Dana stopped Derick from trolling over her, but now that Dana was saying these things, she was beginning to get uncomfortable again. What kind of memories? What did she mean by what she just said?
Joana continued the rest of her training with Dana and Edmund, while she continued studying during the day. For the past weeks, she had to get used to life in the castle without Derick, the one that had showed her the way to this new life of hers. At first, she found it hard, but in the later days, she found she was able to cope.Derick, much to her surprise had asked Edmund to help her with the rest of her training. So, most of her time in the castle was now spent with Edmund and Hillary, as they would go hunting together in the evening, and then begin training into the night. As for Derick, she wasn’t seeing much of him anymore, she didn’t like the fact that they couldn’t even greet each other when they saw, but it was what he asked for and she had to respect that.On the day she completed her final round of training, Edmund declared her a powerful vampire after she fought down a pack of wolves they practiced with in a forest nearby. She was now able to
Joana cuddled little baby Jennifer by the fireplace of the quarters she and Derick had moved into after getting married, she rocked her to sleep, singing her one of the lullaby songs grandma Jen used to sing to her when she was little.Being married to Derick, they still had their misunderstandings but now that they both shared a bed, they now had a place they where they could settle those little pending issues. After a few years of getting married, Joana was more than surprised to find out she was pregnant, she felt it was either the supreme council that just wanted to give her a gift, or the fact that she and Derick had had sex like a million times till the point she conceived, she didn’t care for whatever reason she became pregnant, all that mattered was that her little bundle of joy was right there in her arms, and had brought nothing but happiness into their lives ever since she came. She named her baby Jennifer, after her grandmother, because she kn
Six months later…Joana looked into the gift that the evergreen river had gifted her for her wedding day. It was a magic mirror that allowed her and any other vampire to see their reflection. She looked into it and saw how beautiful she looked in the magical flowery dress the pixies had made for her for her special day. This gift was truly a keeper and she sure would cherish it.“Are you ready to get married?” She heard a voice behind her. She turned to see Dana and Hillary in their bridesmaids dresses the pixies had made for them too. They went to get some flowers that she would hold to walk the alter, as if she didn’t have enough flowers on her dress already.“The more, the merrier,” Dana said.“You look stunning!” Hillary gasped, taking in the view of the beautiful white dress.“You two look amazing also, come and see yourselves in the mirror,” she showed the mirror, an
Back to the present…The news of Marylin’s suicide had the whole coven in silence for days. It killed the happy mood that had been brought about by Derick’s reappearance, and no one was able to eat or sleep during that period. Who would have thought that a story that everyone thought would be a happy ending, actually turned out to be a tragedy?Dana soiled her pillow with tears those nights while thinking, so her husband had lied? He announced to everyone that she died from a strange sickness, and yet couldn’t produce her body, she should have known something was up then. This was the most disheartening news she would ever take.John was truly a snake, she was even sure that he hadn’t bothered to go and look for her when he found out she was missing, he was a bigger bastard than Andrew, and she wished he were still alive so she could go and kill him herself. With all the bad news, she was still happy for Joana, she had
Marylin’s POV…I returned to John’s house after breaking the news of the sacrifice and me becoming human to the members of my coven, they were all distraught by the news but that didn’t make me change my decision. Besides, the supreme council had already said the action was irreversible once I performed the sacrifice, so even if they succeeded in convincing me to stay, it wouldn’t matter anymore. The only thing that gave them a little comfort was when I told them that it wasn’t going to be permanent; my 200th descendant would return as me again with only no memory of the life I’m living now, and would become a vampire on her 18th birthday. Dana promised to always send her messenger bat to watch over my descendants until it reached the 200th, so she would help her return to the castle when it was time. I didn’t care whatever she tried to do in order to bring me back to the coven, all she needed to know was that I was leaving them
Joana searched and searched but couldn’t find the river anywhere, she tried to remember where she saw her the last time she and Derick came here, but in that same place where she met the river, there was nothing there but empty land. She then realized that she probably couldn’t see the river because the river hadn’t called her, but that would mean she would have to pray. Her heart sank, she remembered how long it took for the river to respond the last time she prayed, and she wasn’t sure she had that much time now that her spirit was here. She then got on her knees and began to pray, hoping that the river would hear her and respond quickly, now that she was closer. She hadn’t even begun praying when the river called.“Hello Joana, welcome back. I see you brought your spirit body here this time around.”“Hello river, please I need your help. I am sorry for how I acted the last time; I need to find the one I lo
Back to the present…Reading about Marylin’s experience with the gem piece made Joana remember something important. She quickly dropped the book and hurried over to her bag where she had gathered her own set of ingredients. She emptied the contents in it and lo and behold, amongst the ingredients in her bag, the gem piece was there. She remembered that she didn’t put the pieces back in their normal positions on the five stones because of the pack of wolves she encountered after leaving the supreme council’s presence. If Derick had truly gone to the supreme council to take his life, he wouldn’t have been able to summon their presence without this gem piece she had in her hand. Realizing this made her heart skip a beat, if Derick was still alive, then where could he have possibly gone to? Where could he have been all this while? She rushed out of her room and went to meet Edmund in his quarters, Hillary and Dana had gone hunt
I didn’t waste time in going into their presence as the book told me all I needed to do. I flew to the heart of mother nature, united the gem pieces thereby summoning them and poured my heart out to them when I did. The leader of the supreme council; the one who sat in the middle, then spoke to me.“We have a solution to your problem, we can take away your immortality and make you a human so that you can be reunited with the one you love, but keep in mind that once you offer this sacrifice, your decision can not be changed. You will begin a new journey and you will bring back five ingredients; the first is waters from the evergreen river, tears from the black dragon, earth from the volcano of life, a speck of pixie dust from the enchanted forest, and finally your immortal blood.“All these ingredients are needed to make a sacrifice at the center of the heart, where you first summoned us. If your sacrifice is accepted, then you will becom
After that weekend at Johnnie’s parents’ house, I tried as much as possible to distance myself from his family, even though they began to visit him more regularly to find out if I had any witchery going on. They always came during weekends and sometimes during the weekdays, his mom and his aunt most especially. I knew the reason why they were coming; to check to find anything that would confirm their suspicions that I was a witch or that I had bewitched Johnnie so they could go and report to the king. They gave up when they couldn’t find anything after a few weeks.Alas I was finally free from his family, and now I could have more alone time with my Johnnie. More good things started happening to us as Johnnie, with the whole of his life savings, bought a small land in the town as he was tired of his job, and wanted to go into pig farming. We would both run the farm together, and I even agreed that I would help with night duties while he slept. He would b
After Dana’s visit I became more wary about what people said and thought about me, I never trusted anyone apart from my Johnnie, I managed the vamscren she gave me to make appearances in many parts of the town during the day. It worked, and after a while, all the witch rumors about me stopped, people just assumed that I was heliophobic or something.Johnnie decided that it was now time for me to meet his parents, we were going over to their house for dinner tonight. I was excited at the thought of going to meet them, I only hoped that the fact that I wouldn’t be able to eat anything wouldn’t pose as a problem. We went to their house in the evening after he came home from work. Their house wasn’t in the same neighborhood as Johnnie’s and in this area, there were entirely different faces, they lived in the outskirts of the town. I made sure to look my best before we left and soon, we reached the house. It was bigger than Johnnies and
