Jeremy looked at them in confusion. He nodded and said, “Yes.”

“Here’s a statement confirming that you instigated Sarah Lee to carry drugs with her. We need you back at the police station for an investigation,” the police officer said.

Fern was stunned after hearing what the officer said. Sarah Lee was the woman who tricked her and told her that she was named Shannon Woods.

Jeremy’s expression changed at once. He immediately said, “Are you guys mistaken? I didn’t instigate anyone to do anything. I wouldn’t do anything illegal.”

“Other than her statement, we have a voice recording as well. Listen to this.” The police officer took out his phone and played a recording.

The recording was approximately three minutes long. It was a conversation between a man and a woman.

In the conversation, the man asked the woman to turn herself in and clear Fern’s name. He also promised the woman that he would take care of her family. He guaranteed that her family, especially her sick child, w
