There was a familiar tension in the air that he hadn’t felt in a hundred years. It was some time after he had discovered that he wasn’t alone. Purebloods had been creating creatures in their likeness, not as strong as them, but very similar.

Turned vampires roamed the earth, lost in the dark with insatiable bloodlust. The population of humankind was almost threatened because of it. Towns disappeared, with only houses and physical assets left. Purebloods easily erased those humans from existence, so it wasn’t known to man, but it was a terrible year for humankind.

And it was the same feeling he had been feeling right now.

The sun was still up, but he could already feel intense bloodlust mixed with confusion and fear. He walked with his hands in his pockets, casually tracking the one he felt was nearest.

"An abandoned building. Classic." He mumbled and walked as casually as humans could, entering a random building that was protected by flimsy locks.

Elijah looked up and realized how

The man wasn’t sure why he was asking but answered anyway, "I’m Louise, sir." He doesn’t know what to call the vampire. He looked younger than him, but he had already picked up a thing or two about being a vampire. They were basically immortals, and the man could have been a lot older than he physically looks. He experienced being shot in the head, and it was almost a miracle that he had survived, only that it wasn’t a divine intervention at all. "Louise… I see that you cared for your family. Give me their information, and I will take care of them. I’ll make sure that your son is taken care of until he reaches the age of majority, your mother included." His eyes widened, "Y-you would do that?" He lowered his head until it was reaching the ground. "Thank you so much. I’ll repay you someday, I promise. Thank you so much." He didn’t care if he had to kiss the vampire’s feet if it would help his family in this kind of time. Elijah backed away, "Nothing is free in this world." Louise

Willow kept running towards the entrance of their school but halted when the guy she was pulling stopped. "What is it?" She asked Allen in a hurry. Willow hasn’t seen her brother in a while, and even though they tend to annoy each other, she still misses her idiot of a brother. Allen halted because he could smell the scent of blood flowers, and that only meant one thing, that a hunter was around. Most vampires weren’t aware of its scent, and it was very subtle as well, but Elijah made sure that he was aware of it. Vampires have enhanced senses that are way apart from humans', but they are also advancing fast as well. He couldn’t drop his guard, just like the last time he faced Alice, which was very dumb of him. "Allen, you okay?" He didn’t know what excuse he would use, but his phone rang just in time. There was only one person that would call him, and he knew that it was urgent, "You go to your brother. I have to take this call." He didn’t wait for her answer and ran towards a sp

Elijah frowns after sensing Allen nearby. He checked the condition outside again and glanced at Louise. He had a lot of time to recover from consuming Elijah’s blood. At first, he couldn’t understand how that would help considering that he lost control and tried attacking Elijah for more blood, but he slowly felt his whole body calm down. Whatever bond Elijah was talking about, that was working. He couldn’t wait to embrace his son. "I told him to wait at the house. He’s too stubborn." Elijah complained. "I would, if you just explained the entirety of the situation and didn’t just hang up on me." Allen answered before he could arrive at their floor. Louise was surprised that someone had the guts to talk down to a vampire that strong. "A kid?" He couldn’t help but note. Louise would have thought that the newcomer was someone stronger, but he was calling Elijah Master for some reason. Allen glared at the newborn after being called a kid, "I’m way older than you. Don’t call me a kid.

"Gardenia, my baby." Her mother immediately noticed her child when the door opened. Gardenia rushed to her mother for an embrace but didn’t know where she would hold her as she didn’t want to hurt her mother. Alice looked at the woman’s state. She had a huge plaster on her neck and a small one on her face and left arm, probably from hitting the ground. Nevertheless, she was glad that the woman survived, or she wouldn’t know what to say to Gardenia. "Mama, does it hurt?" Gardenia asked with worry. The woman simply smiled and lied. The wound in her neck was pretty deep, and it would take awhile for it to heal. The whole situation had already been explained by one of the people in the organization, and she was ready not to speak of anything as long as her daughter was safe. She was promised that Gardenia would stay at the organization’s place while she healed up. She was very worried, but she was informed that her daughter would visit him. "Thank you for saving us that night and for

"Sorry, but you’ll have to stay with Ms. Alice in the meantime." She didn’t want her child to be away from her sight again after what happened and what she discovered, but if there is a safest place, then it will be the headquarters full of hunters. She never thought that creatures like vampires would exist, but they were very lucky that hunters like Alice existed. She doesn’t know what would happen to Gardenia if she didn’t survive that. It will be hard to live later on with that knowledge, but she had to be strong for her daughter. It wasn’t their only problem after all. "Please, just call me Alice. I’ll bring her here again tomorrow if there are no complications. I’ll let you know as soon as possible." She didn’t let out a promise because they were all busy, with the missions and the newly turned vampires infesting the place. Alice received a message from the organization notifying her that everything was already clear at the hospital. They should be going by now, but Alice let

Elijah and Allen stayed by one side while Louise talked to his family. They were supposed to stay outside, but the younger vampire insisted that they come inside with him, just in case he suddenly lost control. This was the first time that he felt like himself again— that he wasn’t thinking of anything but blood or killing anyone. "Louise, where have you been?" His mother asked with tears in her eyes. They’ve already reported him missing to the police, but they haven’t come back to them yet with any leads. She comes by every day, only to receive the same response every single day; that they were doing their best to find him. The child immediately ran towards his father too, asking him to be lifted. Louise was hesitant at first. He turned to the vampires, worried that he might do something he would regret. Elijah simply shrugged, while Allen kept his blank expression. He smiled and lifted his child with so much longing. Louise didn’t think he could embrace his son like this again.

Louise was surprised by his revelation. He has been with the two for barely a day, but he already knows how much Allen looks up to his master, even with how sarcastic he was with him. He doesn’t know why Elijah wanted or had to die, but he isn’t the one to judge. "Does he know your plan?" That was his only question. It was way better than keeping someone in the dark. Keeping secrets from someone you love, especially on matters like this, is really hard, but it is harder for the people that will be left. Elijah’s smile widened, "I knew you were the perfect companion for Allen. Yes, he also knows the reason why I have to die. He knows it's for the good, but it wouldn’t be easy for him to cope. That is where you’re coming in." Louise nodded, "I’ll do my best then." That way, he could also stay alive. He still thinks that Elijah doesn't deserve to die, but he doesn't know the whole story, nor does he have any right to ask. "Good." Elijah was impressed by human determination. He wished

"We’re really here…" Art mumbled in a nervous voice after their van stopped in front of a mansion. It was the start of their mission. There were thirty of them who would prepare the place for the party for tomorrow. "Shut it." Alice glared at Art. They messed up in the past because they were either distracted or scared. They have no room for that right now. Today is a chance for them to scout how many vampires they could possibly face. Art pursed his lips, but he knew that Alice was right. They almost died the last time they faced this mafia group slash vampires. They all must have hated to admit it, but they owe their lives to that pureblood vampire. They went out of the van that had the fake company name, and they were already welcomed by a group of men that they immediately knew as vampires. They usually bring a piece or two of the blood flower, but because of the recent incident with Elijah being able to easily compel one of their hunters, they had it infused into accessories th

"Why are we called here?" Klaver asked as he arrived late and had no idea why they were called by Black Lotus again. Karina shrugged, "Not sure. Maybe we’ll get a new mission?" They all went inside Clarisse’s office with anticipation. None of them did anything wrong lately, so they were confident that they were not here to be scolded by their head. Clarisse took a moment to look at each of them. They even held a birthday party for Alice and Carl the other day. She saw how happy they were. It’s just a shame that Alice couldn’t live as a human, even if their circumstances had already changed. "Did we mess up again? Please don’t tell me we’d have to attend trainee classes again." Art spoke up after he couldn’t take the silence anymore. She smiled, "No. Unless you did something else I wasn’t aware of." "We haven’t broken any rules… lately." Carl promptly answered as he was tired of being reprimanded. She pointed at the envelope Alice left for her group, "I called you guys to give yo

"You need to feed." Elijah kept looking at Alice. She was pale as she refused to drink any human blood. Louise continued to alternately look at Alice and Elijah. Alice was his enemy one moment, and now she appears in their house as a vampire. She demanded to join Elijah in fighting off the purebloods, which Louise still thinks is a suicide mission, but he has no abilities to stop his master or Alice. "I’m still Alice, and my hunter pride is still intact. I’ve been alive longer than you think. I could handle this." She simply refuses to drink human blood, even if everything in her is screaming to feed. Unfortunately, even a human soul couldn’t maintain her body as a human. Her body naturally went back to its natural form right after her mind fully awakened. Her abilities came back to her almost immediately. "Why are you insisting on coming anyway?" Elijah doesn’t know how he would treat Alice now. He remembers everything, along with all the feelings that he shared with Alathea. They

"Alice, Alice, wake up." Elijah had already gotten the location from Black Lotus and also received the blood flowers he requested. He was on his way to the given location when he felt a very ominous feeling. Instead, he rushed his way towards Alice’s house and found her unconscious with the charm he had gifted her on the ground. He checked if she was still breathing before lifting her towards the bed. Elijah has been trying to wake him up for five minutes straight, but to no avail. By experience, she looked like she was remembering her memories again. He doubts that the doctors would find anything wrong if he brought her to the hospital. "Alice!" He exclaimed and finally opened her eyes, and Elijah saw her eyes turn red, as of a vampire. She gasped and lifted herself from the bed. Elijah was staring at her with complete shock in his eyes. "Who the hell turned you into a vampire?!" There was fear in his eyes. He had killed all of her past lives, but now that he didn’t have to kill h

  • WITH ALL MY LIVES   CHAPTER 153: FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

Humans either worshiped or feared them. They called them gods, not knowing that their belief was the one that strengthened them. At the same time, losing belief in creatures like her greatly weakens them. The more people forget about them, the sooner they cease to exist. She has existed for thousands of years. Time was fleeting, and so many things have changed over time. Her existence was fueled, not by belief but by fear. No one knows what she truly was, unlike other "gods" that humans have encountered. Instead, she was born out of fear of the unknown. It morphed in her over time until she developed a taste for human blood. Despite her efforts, she couldn’t stop what she had become, like all the monsters they had imagined. Before she knew it, she became a creature that survived on human blood and fear, and yet she still fights for her own instincts whenever she can. Alathea, or at least that is what she calls herself at the present time, quickly walked on a shade to protect herself

"Why am I called at such an ungodly hour?" She complained as she entered Clarisse’s office. Black Lotus didn’t tell her the reason why she was hailed, but she hoped that it was for a great purpose. "Alice, why are you here early?" Carl asked with curious eyes. "I was called by Black Lotus. Why are you here too?" She threw back the question. Carl pointed at Clarisse’s office, "She called me too. What is up? She didn’t tell me what this was about." Alice didn’t answer and walked ahead. She was now certain that it wasn’t about Elijah. Carl wouldn’t be called if it was. "Wait for me!" He exclaimed and caught up. They both entered the office and were welcomed by on of Clarisse’s secretary. She pointed at the door, "She’s been expecting you. Feel free to head inside." Alice immediately figured out that something was happening. Still, she went ahead and opened the door. "Happy birthday!" She heard party poppers and confetti flying over her and Carl. Alice looked at them with utter co

  • WITH ALL MY LIVES   CHAPTER 151: GRIEF, REGRETS, AND MEMORIES

Alice went home with a heavy heart. She had had a bad feeling since earlier. It has been a bit peaceful after the incident of them being ambushed by the old gang members of their old enemy, but deep inside her, she knew that something bad would happen. She dismissed the worry, wishing that it was just her being paranoid. Elijah already killed the newborns but the pureblood who turned the humans was still alive. "Two of them were thrown in a dumpster, and the other one was just left on the streets." She recalled the report she heard earlier. Three of their hunters were killed relentlessly by different vampires, whom she assumes were pureblood vampires. The hunters that were disposed of in the dumpster like trash were killed by a woman, while the other one was killed by another vampire. None of them were the purebloods she saw last time, but they all thought the same after seeing the footage of how the hunters were killed. It was impossible that it had been done by a newborn vampire.

  • WITH ALL MY LIVES   CHAPTER 150: A MOON AND A STAR

Allen let out an annoyed groan after he had just pulled Louise out of the scene when he saw hunters hovering near them. Louise was still out of it because of the high of the bloodlust still rushing to every fiber of his being. "What was happening?" Louise asked. His voice is deeper than usual, but he is slowly gaining consciousness about what is happening. He clicked his tongue, "Idiot. You almost got killed. Wipe that blood off your mouth." Louise’s eyes widened, and he felt more sober after what he heard. He touched his face and realized that Allen was right about the blood on his lips. There was something about blood that the vampire’s body was constantly craving; no matter how much they consumed, it would never be enough. That is why he doesn’t even realize that he is covered in blood as his body casually hangs on for that connection. He promptly wiped his mouth clean and used all the concentration he had to calm himself. They couldn’t walk around with his eyes glowing, and he

"Why are you all here?" Alice complained after seeing the rest of her old team. Art laughed awkwardly. "You didn’t check the notice again, didn’t you?" "What was it about?" She didn’t deny it at all. It was true that she didn’t bother reading it. Carl shakes his head. He was starting to wonder how Alice hadn’t gotten herself into any danger because of her carelessness. "We were set out as a group again. Because of what happened yesterday, we were advised to be careful just in case they were planning any group attacks." Kate was the one who explained the situation. Alice frowned and was about to leave, but Karina quickly managed to stop her. "Anyone is expected to follow the notice, and was told that anyone who would abandon their group will be suspended indefinitely. I think Black Lotus added that part just for you." Alice’s smile was oozing with sarcasm, but she had no choice but to follow them around. It took them an hour to find a vampire, and it wasn’t even a newborn. Elijah

She practiced her aim and poured her heart out while running. This time, she got the rest she wanted, and no one randomly appeared to bother her training. There were trainees who saw her, but no one dared approach her. She realized that they were put into self-training because there were no availability of trainers. It has never happened before when she was still training. If one of their trainers wasn’t around, there would always be someone who would step up to help. They never got to idle like that, and it somehow worried her. She shook her head. "What would be our future with these kids?" Alice couldn’t help but sigh after watching them from a short distance. She wasn’t expecting everyone to have perfect aim, but they were just bad. Alice couldn’t take it anymore and finally stepped up to help them. They all tensed up when Alice suddenly approached them, but she quickly told them that she simply couldn’t take watching them. "Skills are useless if your stance sucks. You’ll always
