I stood naked in front of the stainless-steel mirror hung in the bathroom after taking a shower and gazed at my reflection, my pale green eyes staring right back at me. My body has developed some changes over the past few months of my pregnancy, I've gained a few more pounds.
My thighs are now thicker that they practically rub together whenever I walk, my breasts are bigger and more sensitive, my hips are wider making it nearly impossible to fit in my old clothes, my baby bump is now bigger, I could barely see my feet.
I wonder what Vincenzo would think if he sees me naked? Would he think I'm now fat and wouldn't find me attractive like he used to? I felt heat stain my cheeks at my thoughts.
During the two years of our relationship, he had always showered me with compliments, telling me I looked beautiful everyday. It had always warmed my heart when he would look at me with pure adoration. Before he became distant towards me.
I shook my head trying to get rid of those thoughts. We weren't together anymore, things are different now.
He rarely ever looks my way now. It was like I was the plague and he was trying his possible best to stay away from me. I don't know why that thought makes my heart squeeze painfully.
I shut my eyes and took a deep breath before opening them. I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around my body before walking out of the bathroom into the closet to get dressed.
I put on a nude colored body hug gown that ended just above my knee and a white button up sweater. The gown is stretchy and comfortable and made my bump more prominent. I used the hair dryer to dry my frizzy brown hair, running a comb through it and letting it fall mid back.
I applied a minimal amount of make up that consist of my red lipstick and mascara. I wasn't really a big fan of make up.
After dressing up, I stepped into the hallway. I realized I haven't really had a tour of the mansion. To say the hallway was huge would've been an understatement. The ceiling went for another eight—maybe more feet. I turned towards my right, investigating the hallway. They were four more pairs of double door, looking similar to mine; probably bedrooms.
One of the doors in particular caught my attention. It had an oak wood door and the base color was white. It had a gold ring handle unlike the other doorknobs. I already knew who this room belongs to without even looking in. It was Vincenzo's.
I took a step forward towards the direction of the stairs when a voice stopped me. It was coming from Vincenzo's room.
I felt my curiosity take over as I tiptoed over to the door and listened.
"You think because you had the girl before me, that you've won?" A manly voice spoke with a very thick Russian accent. The voice sounded farther away, I could tell it was a phone call.
"Mr. Kuzlow, I don't think—I know. I told you I'm always a step ahead of you." I could recognize that voice anywhere.
"Alright then, you asked for it Romano. You've declared a war with me. Nobody takes what is mine and gets away with it. When I get my hands on her, I'll make sure to rip that bastard of yours out of her." The menacing tone sent chills down my spine. They were clearly talking about me, this man must be the reason why Vincenzo brought me here. But the real question is, what does he want from me? I suspect this doesn't have anything to do with me carrying Vicenzo's child. This person seemed like he knows me. Personally.
"Bring it on, Kuzlow. You're going to have to go through me to get her. I will not allow harm come to her or my child." Romano spoke with an air of confidence, voice never wavering.
I felt fear grip my heart, so this was the war Matteo was talking about. I knew this was far from over—it was only just the beginning. And I had a very bad feeling about it.
I was about to turn around and head downstairs when my hand accidentally knocked the flower vase to the ground. I cursed as it caused a shrieking noise to echo around the hallway.
Vincenzo Romano stood in front of me, his 6'3 height towering over my 5'4 height. He gripped the door handle so tight that his veins begun to stand out.
He clenched his jaw tight and finally spoke up after what felt like eternity.
"What did your parents tell you about eavesdropping, Ms. Stewart?" My mouth fell open but slowly closed, I had no idea what to say.
He seemed irritated at my lack of response. He moved to shut the door in my face I caught his wrist before he could, ignoring the tingles that shot through my arms.
"Wait! Who was that? Is he—is he the man that you were trying to protect me from?" I asked.
A frown took over his handsome features. "I don't see how that is any of your concern. As far as I remember, you want nothing to do with my illegal business." He seethed , his Italian accent coming out thicker.
"Well I do now when it concerns the safety of me and our child. Why can't you just tell me what's going on?" I asked.
"Lillian, it's nothing I can't handle. I already told you that as long as you're under my protection, no harm will come to you and the baby." He stated as his hard eyes stared intently at me.
"But—"
"Don't. I don't need this right now, I'm done with this conversation." And with that he slammed the door shut in my face.
I gaped at the closed door my mouth opened in shock. I huffed and crossed my arms, my eyes burning holes into the door.
"Such an annoying, controlling, egotistic asshole." I muttered, walking down the stairs into the living room.
Rico approached me with a wide grin plastered on his face. "Hey lilly! I was actually coming to get you for breakfast." I haven't seen him for a few days. I didn't match his enthusiasm.
"Well I'm here now." I said with a dismissive tone, he frowned at my words. Vincenzo has managed to spoil my day before it even started.
"Look, I'm sorry for the way Antonio and I treated you that day. But I want you to know we were just doing our job. We knew you would not willingly come with us if we didn't do that. I'm sorry." His eyes looked at me pleadingly, he sounded apologetic.
I don't really have a problem with Rico, he didn't hurt me, it was Antonio who dug his fingers into my arm.
"It's fine. I forgive you." His face split into a wide grin. "But—" His smile dimmed a little. "That doesn't mean that I forgive Antonio for what he did." Rico nodded his head in agreement while muttering 'Antonio will have to speak for himself' as we walked into the kitchen.
"Where is Matteo?" I asked only now noticing the empty kitchen.
"Boss gave him the rest of the day off after he made breakfast. He went to see his family." I nodded my head, well he wasn't as heartless as I thought.
Rico went over to the covered pot and dished a plate of whatever Matteo prepared.
He placed the plate in front of me, the sight I saw made me scrunch up my nose in disgust.
"What the fuck is this?" I asked stared at the greenish looking food.
Rico chuckled at my reaction. "It's called creamy avocado pesto pasta. Boss told Matteo to make it for you, in his words, 'your intake of junk food is unhealthy for the baby.'"
I groaned in annoyance. Why does he have to be so controlling? I can't even eat what I want without him breathing down my neck.
I picked up the spoon reluctantly and tasted the pesto whatever. Rico looked at me expectantly.
"It isn't as bad as I thought. It tastes...good." Rico grinned in triumph, before taking a bite of his sandwich.
We ate breakfast in complete silence, after eating Rico suggested he took me on a tour of the house. I agreed immediately, anything other than the four walls of my bedroom.
We turned down a hallway. It was bright and well lit; windows on each side. Outside on the left, I saw tennis courts, a swimming pool, basketball backstop, and acres and acres of land. Vincenzo owns a whole estate?
"Rico, how many acres of land is this?" I breathed out, looking completely stunned. And impressed.
"200 acres."
My mouth fell open. I walked forward a little wanting to see a clear view of the house. Different type of cars were parked in the driveway.
This was like every girl's dream come true, only difference is, I wasn't the owner of those cars but I was still impressed.
Why would Vincenzo hide all these from me? Did he think of me as some gold digging bitch, that I would only be with him for his money? It wasn't making any sense when I thought about it.
We walked back into the mansion but we entered an entirely different hallway. Rico opened a door and we entered a large and spacious room.
A library. Shelfs and Shelfs of books covered the four corner of the library. I saw books from authors like William Shakespeare, Robert frost, Michelle Alexander all first editions.
"This is one of Vince's favorite place in the house, when he isn't busy which is really rare, he comes to the library for some peace and quiet." Rico said.
I knew that already, when Vince and I lived together, whenever I didn't find him in his office, he was always in the library or our bedroom.
We walked out of the library and into another set of door. The room was large, it could contain at least fifteen or more people. I could tell it was a game room.
We walked out of the room our shoulders occasionally brushing but I didn't feel the sparks of electricity and tingles like I did with Vincenzo.
I groaned inwardly, why did I have to compare every single man with Vincenzo?
We are no longer together and I have to get over him but how is that even possible when his name is always mentioned in every corner of this house.
I think the fact that I haven't had sex in six months added to my frustration. I mean who would want to sleep with a woman, pregnant with another man's child? You don't want any other man. My subconscious mocked. I shook my head.
I refuse to let my thoughts drift to that direction. My sexual frustration was getting into my head making all rational thoughts disappear.
"I'm going to get a cup of coffee, do you need anything?" Rico's voice snapped me out of my not so innocent thoughts.
"A glass of water would be fine, please." He shot me a smile before walking into the kitchen.
I went into the living room and made myself comfortable on the soft cushion. Rico returned with a cup of coffee in his left hand and a glass of water in his right hand, he handed the water to me and sat down beside me keeping his distance.
"Thank you." I said before drinking the water in large gulps. A thought entered my mind.
"Rico, are we still in New York?" Rico turned his attention to me and nodded his head muttering a 'yes' I sighed in relief.
I heard footsteps walking down the stairs, I looked up only to find Vincenzo staring at us with a frown marring his handsome features. Rico immediately scrambled to his feet looking panicked.
"Rico, did you deliver the files to my clients like I told you to?" Rico slowly shook his head. "Well, what are you waiting for?" Vincenzo's deep voice boomed, authority lacing his words.
Rico rushed out of the living room, leaving Vincenzo and I alone.
I stood up and moved to walk out, Vincenzo wrapped his large arm around my waist pinning my body against his warm chest my baby bump poking his stomach.
"I want you to understand this." he spoke in a demanding manner, "I do not want you getting cozy with him. I did not bring you here to seduce my men."
Before I could react to what he said, the sound of gunshot rang out through the air.
Gunshots. They were loud and deafening, Vincenzo let go of me and whipped his head to the left towards the direction of the sound. Rico came rushing with more men all looking calm like they've experienced this a thousand times. I, on the other hand was a few minutes away from having a panic attack. Vincenzo barked out orders at his soldiers in rapid Italian, "Cazzo! Afferra le tue armi e prendi gli altri soldati, assicurati di ucciderli tutti! Manerò il primo piano. Kuzlow ha calpestato la coda del Leone."The soldiers immediately grabbed their guns and dashed off towards the sounds of gunshots. (Fuck! Grab your weapons and get the other soldiers, make sure you kill them all! I'll handle the first floor. Kuzlow has stepped on the lion's tail.)Vincenzo still looking unfazed-turned to Rico and ordered. "Call Mario to get the jet ready, and while you're at it take her to the room and get her packed and ready. We are leaving." He brought out his gun and moved to walk towards the chaos
Lily's POV."You know, when I suggested you take a nap, I didn't mean you should sleep through the whole plane ride." Vincenzo's deep voice rang out, I looked out at the plane's window and truthfully we were in the early hours of the morning. I let out a yawn as I walked out of the bedroom door. Vincenzo stood in front of me with a raised brow. I shrugged. "Blame your bed for being so soft and comfortable." I muttered, walking past him to sit on the plush sofa. My feet were aching and swollen, I lean down and tried massaging it, but my belly made it practically impossible. Gosh! I hate when this happens, usually Penny was always there to massage my feet when they were achy. God, I miss that bitch.Without warning, Vincenzo gracefully sat down next to me and placed my feet on his lap.I immediately tried removing my legs from his hold but he held on tight, but not tight enough to hurt.He rose a brow at my attempt to free my legs from his lap. "You know, you could have just asked fo
Lily's POV.After a very awkward dinner with the Romano's, I was finally on the safety of my bedroom. I'm thankful dinner ended early, because the tension in that room was so thick, I could barely breathe. Vince seemed to grow more distant and cold when he was with his family. Especially his mom. He seemed pretty chill and relaxed with his little sister, I noticed the light in his eyes when he saw her, he stared at her with love and adoration. I felt my heart squeeze painfully at the sight, I didn't like the feeling but, I couldn't help but feel a little bit jealous of Vita. She gets to see the good Vince, the sweet Vince, the one he doesn't show me anymore. God, I sound stupid. I thought dejectedly. But I couldn't help it, this dark and handsome man seems to never leave my mind, making me an emotional mess. I need a cold shower. I thought as I stood up and opened my suitcase, I'm too tired to unpack my clothes, bringing out a my night dress as I walked into the bathroom. I stripp
Lily's POV."Rise and shine, mama bear!" I groan into the pillow, covering my ears from her loud screeching. I didn't know who was worse between Vita and Penny. "Five more minutes." I said groggily, slapping her hands away when she attempted to pull me up. She laughed at my antics."Come on, get up! Aren't you tired of being cooped up in this house all day? Have you even gone shopping for baby clothes? Let's go have some fun!" My ears perked up at her words, I suddenly realized how true she was.Penny and I were planning on going baby clothes shopping, the week Vince's goons kidnapped me, but we couldn't go for obvious reasons.I reluctantly got up from the bed, and turned towards Vita who had a devious grin plastered on her face.I grunted. "I guess you're right." A thought crossed my mind and I immediately asked, "Did you inform your brother about this?" Vince would definitely get mad, if we went without his permission. She looked around sheepishly. "No I didn't, but I'm sure he
Lily's POV. After a one hour drive, we were finally in the shopping mall. We strolled to the babies aisle. I immediately fell in love with the different designs of baby clothes, I could already picture my son in those cute little outfit. "Omg! I can't wait to meet my nephew, these clothes are so beautiful!" Vee said in her loud voice making people turn to glare at her. She flipped them off and gave them the finger, I burst out laughing at her ridiculous attitude. Definitely worse than Penny, I thought with a smile. We started selecting cute outfits, Vita was on the other side of the aisle also picking out clothes.I couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched, but whenever I looked back I don't see anyone. Vita called my name, snapping my attention to her. I was probably just thinking too much."Look at this! It's so cute, what do you think?" She asks, I take a look at the cloth. It's a baby blue onesie, It has a writing, 'I love daddy and mommy' with a heart beside it, boldly
Lily's POV. "Where the fuck have you been?" A very familiar deep voice boomed.Oh no. This is bad, very bad. I've never seen Vincenzo this angry before. His jaw clenched and unclenched as he stared at me with dark eyes that sent a cold shiver down my spine. He was practically shaking from anger. His eyes looks murderous, making me flinch at the realization that I was terrified of this man in front of me. "I uh, I w-went shopping with Vita." I stuttered out as I hung my head in shame. I knew my life was in danger and I still left the house. Vincenzo's laugh caught me off guard, he laughed coldly without humor, he continued laughing and starts clapping his hands, walking around me in circles. "Really? You went shopping? While I was working my ass off to keep you and our baby safe? Tell me, did you enjoy yourself?" He spat out in anger, gritting his teeth with each word. "I-I -"He interrupted me. "Of course you did. You practically walked into danger after I repeatedly told you it w
Lily's POV. Vee and I couldn't go to the doctor's appointment because Vincenzo was constantly watching our every move, he even went as far as appointing two guards to breathe down our neck when he wasn't available to do so. It was really annoying the hell out of me, and making me worried too. I really wanted to know if something was wrong with my baby and the only other choice I have is to tell Vincenzo about it, but I just didn't know how to tell him about it. He's been doing so much already to keep the baby safe and I felt guilty for wanting to add to his stress. Especially when there is the possibility that nothing might be wrong. I thought about how much my life has changed in just a span of one and a half week. I found out my ex boyfriend and father of my child is a mafia boss. My life and that of my baby's is in danger. The lies. The secrets. And most importantly, the possibility of losing our baby. Call me selfish but, sometimes I feel like my life would have been a lot b
Lily's POV. A sharp pain from my lower belly woke me up, I grimaced. I groaned sleepily as I try to find a comfortable position. I stirred on the bed, and sat up as the pain eased a little and I managed to get up on my feet. My belly felt heavier than before as I made my way into the bathroom to take a shower. Showered and dressed, I carefully made my way out of my room and down the stairs. The Romano family were already seated for breakfast, with Vincenzo sitting furtherest away from his mom, he was sat at the head of the table looking as handsome as always. I did not just think that. Vita was sitting beside her mom speedily typing on her phone. She never seemed to leave that device. Carla was thankfully cheerful today. She seemed to have gotten over her son's behavior towards her a few days ago. Ever since Vincenzo confronted his mother he never came down for breakfast or dinner, he stayed cooped up in his room or at work, until today. Carla notices me and gave me a war

She was naked, tied and cuffed to a queen sized bed. Her skin was covered in sweat, and her nipples hardened into a tight bundle of nerves. She felt light fingertips on her belly, tingles sparked as her body reacted to his touch. He stroked her thighs, and the hand trailed to her sides until it reached her breasts. He placed his hands on her breasts, pinched her nipple causing her to gasp out in pleasure. She arched her restricted body closer to his fingers. “Do you like that?” A deep gruff voice asked, making her open her eyes slowly. She saw the silhouette of a man standing above her, but she couldn't see his face. She didn't miss the shadows of tattoos that marred his entire upper muscular body. He was tall, a looming figure of pain and death. His black hair fell over his face messily. Though she couldn't see his face properly, his black eyes held a darkness that shocked her. But she wasn't afraid of him and that's what surprised her. She craved his touch like the very air she
Vincenzo's POV. I walked into the basement with Rico trailing behind me. The Russian bastard was still knocked out cold. Before coming in, I had ordered Rico to bring a bucket of iced water. Giving him a nod of confirmation, he slowly walked to the Russian and poured the freezing water on him. Sergio jumped awake, screaming profanities in Russian from his mouth. When he saw me, his eyes widened with fear. “I've told y'all everything I know! Boss didn't tell me anything! Please let me go!” After eleven years of being in the Mafia, I could proudly say I knew when someone was lying or not. And I knew this bastard was fucking lying to me. “Do you think lying will save you from dying? You think your little boss will come save your ass? Sorry to burst your bubbles, Sergio. But he doesn't give a shit about you.” He flinched at my words. Vincenzo eyed him. “Are you willing to talk now? Or I'll force it out of you.”Silence.I brought out my gun and aimed it at his eyes. “Alright, Alrig
NEW YORKPenny's POV. I walked into my apartment after a long day at work. The house has been boring ever since Lily left for Italy. I miss her a lot but I'm happy that she's finally back with Vincenzo who she never got over. I brought out my keys to unlock the door, but to my surprise the door was open. My mind skipped with fear at the thought of a thief being in my house. But a thief couldn't possibly turn on the television and watch a movie. With a little more boldness, I opened the door enough to take a peek and breathed out in relief as I saw my boyfriend, Troy. He was watching a movie in the living room, quietly munching on a popcorn. I stepped into the living room, immediately catching his attention. He stood up with a sweet smile, pulling me into his arms and slamming his lips on mine. I dropped my hand bag on the ground and eagerly kissed him back, running my hands through his hair. We pulled away a few minutes later, breathing heavily. “You know, I'm really starting to
Lily's POV. “Don't talk back to me.” Vladimir said threateningly. “You might be my son's whore, but I will not tolerate disrespect from you. When he gets tired of you, he'll toss you away like he does with other sluts like you.” Vladimir laughed darkly and shook his head, before turning and marching away. I tried not to let his words get to me but I couldn't deny that his words stung. “Wow… your father is a dick.” I breathed out, with a fake smile, swallowing the lump in my throat. Vincenzo didn't say anything, he jaw set in anger. I moved to walk out of his office, so he wouldn't see the traitorous tears forming in the corner of my eyes. Vincenzo grabbed my wrist, he took a sleeping Andre to the small baby bed in the corner of the room, before finally turning to me. “Lillian.” I refused to look at him. “Lily, look at me.” I did as he said, shamefully wiping away the tears from my face. “I don't even know why I'm crying… It's not even a big deal. You can be with any woman you
Lily's POV. “This isn't the time for questions, Lillian. I have more important things to do.” Vincenzo retorted harshly. I felt hurt by his words but I refused to show it. Antonio announced that he was leaving, before shutting the door close behind him, leaving us. I noticed how Antonio stared at Vita like a lost puppy when he thought no one was looking. It was different from the usual scowl he always wore on his face. Makes me wonder if they perhaps have a history together? “Vince, I know you're still angry about what I said to you. Anger got the better of me, I didn't mean what I said. I'm sorry.” He didn't say anything as he walked over to me and took Leandre from my arms. Andre squealed happily on his father's arm. I can't get over the fact of how much Andre loves his dad. Whenever Vincenzo arrives from work and he sees him, he would giggle in excitement and stretch his hands in the air, motioning for Vince to pick him up. Vincenzo walked behind his desk and plopped down on
Antonio's POV. “What's going on here?” Vincenzo asked, raising his eyebrow. “Nothing!” Vita said loudly, before clearing her throat. “I mean, I was just asking him where you were. Right, Antonio?” Her eyes glared daggers at me, daring me to say otherwise. I matched her expression as I muttered, “Right.” Vincenzo looked between the two of us, before finally settling his gaze on his sister. “Why were you looking for me, Vita?” “I wanted to know if you've seen mom. I've looked everywhere but I can't find her. And I've also been trying her number but it's not connecting.” “Have you checked her room?” Vita nodded her head, her face morphing into a worried expression. “I checked her room. I've literally checked everywhere in this mansion, I still can't find her. D-do you think mom is missing, Vince?” Vincenzo didn't reply immediately and turned to me. “There's a tracking device on her phone. I want you to look for her location.” Together, we walked into Vincenzo's office. I op
Antonio's POV. “No! No! NO!” The Russian thrashed around trying to get away from the pain being inflicted on him. The thick ropes used in tying him up didn't budge. Vincenzo pulled the sharp blade from the Russian enemy's thigh as he spoke coldly, “Are you ready to talk?” The Russian sighed in relief as soon as the blade left his left thigh. He clamped his mouth shut, refusing to say anything and risk getting killed by his mafia. That wasn't particularly necessary anymore because I am certain that he wouldn't be leaving here alive. Not when my boss was this furious. Vincenzo wore a calm expression on his face, but I knew he was beyond furious. The calm expression was just a facade, after years of being in the mafia, I have learnt all the different types of emotions. Vincenzo walked to the large black suitcase, where all his different knives were. There was a different bag just beside it, containing a few of our weapons. The silver knives glinted in the dark room, after being used t
Lily's POV. I froze. The first thing that came to my mind was that my baby was all alone in his crib. I grabbed the first cloth I could find and put it on and scrambled to the door. Vincenzo grabbed a gun that I had no idea was under the bed and we immediately rushed outside. I quickly made my way to our son's room, the room was open and in disarray and what I saw next scared the living daylight out of me. Andre's cot was empty, as was the rest of the room. The color drained from my face and my hands shook in fear. I walked inside the room and searched everywhere, I even went as far as checking the bathroom. Empty. My baby was nowhere to be found. And I did the next thing that came to my mind. I screamed. Vincenzo burst into the room, looking ready to kill. When he saw the empty cot and the terrified expression on my face, his face grew emotionless. My hands trembled. “He's gone. M-my baby- where...?” My voice came out strained as a choked sob ripped from my lips. I fell to the
