The Announcement

After the duel the two of us got involved, I teleport myself back to my chamber where I patiently waited to be called by our father. It’s already expected that we will be called because of our actions, it may seem as if a lot of demons enjoyed it, but to the supreme court of Dexo Fernia, it might risk our title and reputation… and of course, my crown.

I took breath and let out a sigh, after all these years, Elspeth still hasn’t accepted the fact that the throne will be given to me, is it my fault that I am better than her? I shook my head and a few seconds after, I heard someone knocking on my door.

“Come in,” I said emotionless. The door opened and spit out Lilith, just as I expect.

She walked in front of me with her head held high and a grin on her lips. “You are being summoned by your father on his chamber. Get dressed at once we’ll be waiting for you.”

The only respond I gave was a nod, and afterwards, Lilith left the room. I stood up from my bed and went to my closet to find something black. I called two of my servants to help me get dressed.

I chose to wear a black shirt-dress with golden vines hanging on its edges. My servants helped me fix my hair, to turn it into a side bun braid. As for the finishing touches, I wore a necklace with a blood red ruby pendant, shaped as a moon. I faced myself right in front of the mirror, and closed my eyes… on the moment I opened them, I stood on the huge door to my father’s chamber.

He sat on his throne with a glass of wine on his right hand. I walked through his room my head held high, chest out, and emotionless just how I was trained to be. Although I need to be emotionless, people should see fear on the depths of my amethyst like eyes. I reached where he sat and spoke, “I already expect you’d summon me.”

“Don’t forget about me, Roni.” I turned my gaze from where I stood a few seconds ago. Elspeth stood from afar wearing the same thing as I do. She even copied my hair.

She walked and acted the same way as I do and smiled at me the moment she reached where I stood. She then bowed before our father so politely.  “Can somebody cut this crap? Enough games Elspeth.” I flicked my finger and my dress turned into a purple mermaid gown, so did my hair turned into a water fall-braid.

“Who said I was playing? Didn’t you know?” She asked and turned to our father. “I will be crowned as Queen tomorrow.”

I turned my gaze to my father and looked at him straight in the eyes. “I will be Queen. The crown is mine.”

Our father stood from his throne and walked right in front of me, “what if I don’t want to?’ He asked me with a deceiving grin on his lips.

I maintained eye contact with my father and replied, “then I’ll take it myself if I have to.”

He then started chuckling, but I kept a dangerous aura written on my face. “Do tell me why I should give you the crown.”

I responded with a devilish grin onto my lips, my eyes started glowing and in an instant I pushed back everyone in the room with a strong attack of energy beam. “I’m the only one worthy of the throne you know, and said it yourself.”

Our father then started laughing and clapping at the same time, “you see that, Lilith? I told you, she is worthy of the crown.”

I saw hesitation and doubt on Lilith’s face who, stood beside him and said. “But, my Lord… Elspeth is the eldest daughter, she should be Queen.”

“She knows her place, don’t you Elspeth?” Elspeth who stood beside me after I blew her away responded only with a nod.

“Very well,” Father sat back on his throne and announced, “I declare your coronation, Veronica Lorraine Glaiza Elizabeth Vane, be held a week from now, where the moon shall blanket the sun, and darkness spread like wild fire.”

A smile curved to my lips, “thank you, Father.”

He smiled back at me and said to us both, “you may now go back to your chambers, and celebrate this day… My decision is final.” The two of us gave a bow and left the chamber.

As we walked outside the chamber I heard Elspeth say, “The crown should be mine, if only Father didn’t have a soft spot when it comes to you, I would have been Queen a long time ago.” She then turned her gaze and glared at me.

I smirked at her and replied, “It’s not because he has a soft spot when it comes to me… you know to yourself I am much more capable than you.”

I felt how she let out a heavy sigh and said, “Mark my words, Veronica. That crown will be mine whether you like it or not. I will take it from you, even if it means I have to kill you with my bare hands.”

My lips curved into a smile as I reply and say, “You can try as long as you want. And I will watch you fail, over and over again.”

Her eyebrows still narrowed, she left and teleported. I chuckled and went back to my chamber with a grin hanging on my lips. Finally, I will be officially declared as Queen.

“Are you really sure about your decision, my Lord?” Lilith asked Hikaris.

Hikaris then turned his gaze to her, his eyes were narrowed and he was gritting his teeth, “how dare you doubt my decision, Lilith?”

“I-it’s not that I doubt you, my Lord… but I think Elspeth would be a better Queen than Veronica.”

Hikaris threw the glass out of rage and screamed at her, “Enough!!”

“It’s not her time yet, nor does your opinion counts! You are forgetting your place, Lilith. You serve me, you listen to me. Do you, understand?!” Her eyes fell on the ground after what Hikaris said.

“Yes, my Lord.” Lilith answered.

“Now that I made it clear…” Hikaris stood from where he sat. “Spread the message to everyone on Dexo Fernia, about the coronation of their new Queen.”
