"Ow! Ow! Ow!" I winced as the maid dabbed my wound with disinfectant. She shot me a glare.
"You people always make trouble! Can't you stay still for a minute?""I didn't ask for this," I grumbled. "We got attacked."
"Shut your mouth unless you want the wound to get worse."
The pain dulled slightly. "That plant—what was it?"
"Concentrated jasmine. Local anesthesia."
She finished bandaging me and sighed, "Be more careful next time. Your body won't hold up forever."
I smiled. "I’ve had worse. I can handle pain."
She huffed, "Whatever, assassin. Just don’t die on my shift."
A knock at the door. A servant peeked inside. "Y-You have a visitor. Lady Stella and the three Alphas."
"Oh," I adjusted myself. "Let them in."
The maid stepped aside as Stella rushed in, face tear-streaked.
"Ruby!" she threw her arms around me.
