Divorce

" Mrs West "

I fixed my gaze on the Judge, an older man I could have sworn I'd seen at one of my husband's parties. I felt the urge to remind him not to refer to me by that title again, but I didn't want to make the situation more dramatic than it already was. Half the country was watching this divorce case, and the media was eager to see the fall of the obedient and loyal wife of Damien West. The woman who had been willing to give up anything earn the love of her husband.

it was ironic that the person who had ended up snatching my husband was none other than my dear sister, perhaps I would have preferred it if it had been a mistress, or one of Damien's employees. I could see mockery in the eyes of the onlookers, waiting for me to have a mental breakdown. But I held my head high, refusing to give them the satisfaction of seeing me break. At some point, I had grown numb to it all. The pain of seeing my parents and friends standing on Sasha's side was now merely a dull ache. More than anything, I wanted to get this over with and go home.

"Yes, your honor?" I said, my voice firm.

"Your husband," the judge cleared his voice, "is willing to give you a total sum of 10 million as compensation for the years you have spent together. However, he demands that all properties under your name be transferred to one Miss Sasha Carter. Your husband is indeed being generous, but I want to know how you feel about this."

"I don't want his money, your honor," I said, meeting Damien's narrowed gaze. "And I don't want his property either. He can give it to whoever he wishes. All I want is for this divorce to be finalized; I no longer wish to be tied to him."

There was confused muttering in the courtroom. It was hard to believe that Damien's wife would refuse the money given to her? 10 million wasn't a small amount, and I would be able to live comfortably without worrying about getting a job. When Damien had announced our marriage, the media had assumed that I had somehow seduced him into getting together. Everyone knew I was obsessed with him from a young age. They said I wanted to get my hands on his family fortune. The public's view of me used to bother me, but now I simply didn't care what they thought. It's not like my reputation could suffer any more blows.

"Your honor," Sasha spoke up, her voice sweet and innocent. I had demanded that she not show up during my divorce, but my parents had insisted that she had every right to be there, as she was going to be Damien's wife soon. That's right; apparently, they had gotten engaged nearly a year ago, all behind my back.

"I know my sister is still angry at me for what happened, and I simply can't forgive myself for being the reason behind her suffering. However, she is simply speaking out of spite; the money belongs to her since she had also contributed a lot to Damien's business. Despite everything that's happened, I want her to live a very good life, even though I know she can't find it in her heart to forgive me. So please, don't let her leave empty-handed; I beg you."

The judge nodded at Sasha's words like she had said something of great wisdom. It seems that everyone else was overlooking the fact that She was the husband snatcher here.

The Judge turned his gaze to me once more. "Your sister cares about you deeply, Mrs. West. I believe that whatever happened between both of you should be forgotten; you should let go of all grudges and accept the compensation money. Surely the love of a man can't be more than that of your own blood "

"Yes, I know that my sister cares a lot about me; she has proven this by stealing my husband," I said with a gentle smile playing on my lips. I locked eyes with Sasha, hoping the hatred in my gaze was enough to convey just how I felt about her. "But with all due respect, you have no right to tell me what to do. I think both the money and property should go to her; let her enjoy these things while she still can."

"Is that a threat?" Damien, who had been silent all this while, finally snapped. It seemed he couldn't tolerate the hatred directed at his lover. None of this was Sasha's fault; from the very beginning, she had only been looking after her elder sister, so what right did I have to blame her for the fact that he had never loved me.

"Take it however you wish. I don't care what you think about me anymore, but I assure you that none of you will get away with this. Just wait and see; I'll make you regret it, even if it takes me years." I took my purse and left the courtroom. I didn't bother saying goodbye to my parents. The last thing I saw was my now ex husband pulling my sister into his arms, gleeful that they had won the case.

I had already packed all of my things out of Damien's home earlier that day. And I didn't plan to see my parents again, not after everything.

My body felt cold as I boarded a taxi "Take me to the airport," I told the driver. As the car zoomed off, I swore in my heart that I would repay the evil done to me by tenfold. When I return to this godforsaken place next time, it will be to take my revenge.
