The aroma of a delicious breakfast fills Anna's nose and makes her stomach growl. She's drowsy and hungry at the same time. She couldn't remember what time she went to bed after a long conversation with her husband the night before. Anna had stated unequivocally that she wanted to give this marriage a chance, and her little heart wishes that Ibrahim will be willing to do the same.
“You got up very early today.” Ibrahim said, sitting in his usual chair, his briefcase on the empty seat.
Anna's lips curved into a smile. “Didn't I tell you? I'll start working from today.” She responded enthusiastically. Anna has been looking forward to this day because she fears she will die of boredom if she stays in this large house for too long without doing anything.
Ibrahim was never a fan of her desire to work. He just let out a forced smile. “You can leave at any time if the work gets too difficult.” He replied quickly and began eating his breakfast.
Anna liked the vibe between them for some reason. She could see from his gaze that the cold and arrogant gaze had completely disappeared. Ibrahim's willingness to give this marriage a chance gave her a glimmer of hope in her heart.
“Finish your breakfast, because I'm going to drop you off at work.” Ibrahim spoke up, breaking their peaceful silence. He wanted to know what his wife's workplace looked like. Anna just nodded.
Ibrahim stood up immediately after finishing the last bite of his scrambled egg. “Are you ready?” he inquired.
After gulping the remaining orange juice, Anna wiped her lips with a clean napkin. “Yes,” she said as she picked up her bag. She looked at Ibrahim and smiled in delight.
“What's so funny?” Ibrahim asked, as he doesn’t get it, why she chuckled.
Anna took a step closer to him, her hands resting on his tie. “How could a well-known CEO's tie look so crooked?” She said as her hands were busy tying his tie.
Ibrahim scratches his neck awkwardly. He was in such a hurry that he didn't notice his tie was unkempt. “Thank you very much.” He responded, trying not to sound awkward. As Anna trailed him from behind, he grabbed his briefcase and walked to his garage.
As one of his drivers was opening the door for him, he motioned for him to stop. “I'm going to drive by myself today.” He ordered him.
Anna looked surprised. He was always accompanied by his driver, but today he insisted on driving himself to her workplace. Ibrahim motioned for her to take a seat in the passenger seat, and she simply obeyed.
“I believe you are well aware of my driving style, and I hope you do not mind.” Ibrahim said as he started the engine.
Anna looked unconcerned. She is well aware that he is referring to his expediting. “I won't.” She responded quickly.
When Anna told him the address, Ibrahim was taken aback as the school was so close to his office. “What a coincidence!” He murmured.
The ride was rather quiet. None of them were talking but were simply enjoying the scenery. It was the first time they had ever shared such a peaceful environment. It took them thirty minutes to get to the art school.
Anna took a deep breath, tried to remain calm and faced her husband. She couldn't tell whether Ibrahim was willing to try or not after their emotional conversation last night. She, too, does not wish to compel him. She believed that as time passed, things would improve, including their marriage.
“I appreciate the ride.” She said and unbuckled her seat belt.
Ibrahim swallowed and cleared his throat. “I'll come get you. Call me when you're done.”
Anna's lips curled when she heard him. “Okay. Thank you.” She said and got out of the car. It will be a fresh start for her.
When Anna got out of his car, he didn't drive away, but instead watched her back get further away. His mind is clouded by conflicting emotions about how he should feel about that woman. It's peculiar. He vowed to himself that he would never love another woman after his fiancée, but how could his heart begin to waver when he met her? It is extremely painful for him. How will she react once she learns about his original plan? He was not born to love her. He was doomed to destroy her, how could he persuade his heart to stop beating for her? The battle within his heart began to rage after their emotional conversation last night. She'll let him have her, and all she wants is his heart, but how? How could he possibly love again when his heart is so broken?
Anna entered the school and went straight to the principal’s office after seeing Ibrahim drive away. She knocked before entering and found a man in his fifties, busy with the papers.
“Sir, good morning.” She greeted him with a handshake.
The man smiled and accepted her handshake. “Oh. You've arrived. My name is Nicolas Schmidt. I will show you around, but first let me look up your schedule.” As his hands searched for the timetable, Nicolas stated. “Please take a seat.” He indicated the couch in his office.
As she received her timetable, Nicolas showed her around the school and introduced her to the other teachers. The first impression of the school is positive, and she senses a welcoming atmosphere. Nicolas’s appearance is quite friendlier. She chooses a good school for her work, she thought.
Anna could hear children arguing and talking as she entered one of the classrooms. The class has about fifteen students. However, once she entered the classroom, the noise died away. She could feel all the students' eyes on her as if they had never seen her before.
While standing in front of the class, Anna put on her best smile. “Good morning, students. I will be your new drawing instructor from today. My name is Anna R…. Saunders. I would like you all to introduce yourselves. Can you do that?” Anna asked, trying to get to know the student first. Her students are so young.
“We can begin it from the very left.” She asked, pointing to the little girl, who was dressed in a sweet baby pink dress with her hair tied into two small ponytails.
“My name is Hailey and I’m seven-years-old. I like chicken.”
“My name is Chad. I’m seven-years-old and I like to play football.”
“My name is Dalton and I’m also seven-years-old. I like drawing.”
Anna chuckled a little upon hearing the introduction of the kids. She thought they were so cute and adorable that she would rather spend the entire day with them than stay at Ibrahim’s house waiting for him to return home.
“I’m Lucas. And I think you’re so beautiful. Can I call you pretty Anna?” said the little boy in the last row. His expression is solemn, he doesn't even smile. From where did this little boy learn to flirt?
Anna was a little startled upon hearing what the last student said. He can’t call her pretty. “Because we're at school, you must address me as Mrs. Saunders and pretty Anna are not allowed.” She explained herself clearly.
Lucas scoffed and looked towards Anna with his irritated gaze. “You don't like to be praised?” he asked, his hands crossed across his chest. He truly spoke like an adult.
Anna took a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself. Every class has at least one brat student who likes to cause trouble, and she could tell Lucas is one of them. “Lucas, that is not the proper way to address an adult, nor is it the proper way to express your anger.” Anna responded to this little guy's annoyance in the best way she could.
Lucas sighed and rolled his eyes. “Whatever.” He said without looking at Anna.
Anna exhaled a soft sigh. This little boy appeared to be her first challenge in her teaching career. She could tell he was rude and didn't pay attention when she was teaching. There's something wrong with this kid. That heart of hers wanted to know why, and she'll try it after class.
As the bell rang, she said goodbye to her students, as she had another class to teach and the kids had another class to attend. Although drawing is one of her passions, she had no idea teaching would be so difficult and exhausting. It was a challenging task for her to handle the children and educate them. She is not just talking about academics, but also about the kids' behavior and character.
She glanced at her watch, which showed it was past four o'clock in the evening. It was a long tiring first day for her, but it was better than doing nothing at all. She needed to call Ibrahim to let him know that she had finished her work for today. As she reached for her phone, she noticed a small boy sitting on the playground with his backpack, waiting for someone. It's Lucas, the naughty kid of her class. She pushed her phone aside and approached the youngster. She sat beside him, carefully looking at him.
“Do you want some ice cream?” She inquired, pointing to an ice cream shop in front of the school.
Lucas looked perplexed at his drawing teacher. Despite the fact that the day was getting colder and they were entering the winter season, the offer looked too good to pass up.
When she saw his excitement, Anna's lips curled up. Who doesn't enjoy dessert, especially when it is ice cream? “I eat ice cream whenever I feel sad or unhappy. It makes me feel better every time.”
Lucas was hesitant at first because of Anna's harsh words toward him earlier in class, but he really wants the ice cream. “Can I please have the strawberry one?” he asked with a pleading gaze.
Anna stroked his hair gently as she watched the child who looked like a little kitten. “Yes, of course. I will go and get it for you. Don't go anywhere, Okay?”
Lucas nodded and noticed that Anna went to the ice cream shop to get what he had requested. When he saw Anna return with two cups of ice cream, his lips curled. He was about to snatch the ice cream from Anna's hand when she stopped him.
“What should you say if you want something?” Anna asked, as she still refuses to give him the ice cream.
Lucas pouted and his face became glum. “I'd like some ice cream.”
Anna raised her head. Everything about this kid is clearly off. “You should use the word please.” Anna said her gaze fixed on him.
Lucas focused his attention on his teacher and then on the ice cream. He doesn't want the ice cream to melt and turn into liquid. “Mrs. Saunders, may I please have the ice cream?” In the end, he asked with a pleading tone.
When Anna heard this little boy's pleading, she laughed a little. “There you go strawberries for you.” She handed him the ice cream cup.
Lucas' eyes sparkled and he smiled with delight. “Thank you very much, pretty Anna.” He replied to her.
When she heard the words “pretty Anna” she looked at him in disbelief. “You should address me as Mrs. Saunders, Lucas.”
Lucas doesn't appear to be bothered. His focus has shifted to ice cream. “Because we're not in the class, I'm no longer your student. I can call you however I want.” He defended himself.
How could this little boy be so determined? “We're still in the school's vicinity.” She reminded him.
Lucas looked at her with a flat expression. “I've always addressed my father's friend by name. I think you are around my father's age.”
Anna couldn't think clearly right now. What kind of environment does this boy live in? calling out the names of his father's friends. “Will he come get you soon?” Anna inquired as the clock approached five o'clock in the evening.
Lucas moved his head. “Uncle will come and get me,” he said as he slid the last spoon of ice cream into his mouth.
“Uncle?” She appeared to be perplexed.
“Because Daddy is busy." The little boy responded.
“What about mommy?” she asked, a little hesitantly.
“No, mommy.” He replied quickly and stood up, holding the empty cup. “Anna, please let me help you throw your cup.” Lucas offered and snatched the empty cup from Anna's hand directly.
Anna concluded that this little boy might be rude, but he has a good heart. What did he say just now? No mommy? How could it be? Her brow furrowed, however, when she noticed the little boy returned with something in his hand. It’s a stalk of roses.
“Pretty flower for a pretty lady. Thank you for the ice cream.” He gave her the flower.
Anna couldn't help but smile when she saw how adorable this little boy is. How did he come across this flower? “Thank you for the flower, but you should be careful because, no matter how lovely the roses are, the thorns can harm you.” She happily accepted the flower.
Lucas doesn't seem to grasp what she's saying. thorns? “What are thorns?” he wondered.
“Did you notice the spike around the stem? It's known as the throne. If you are not careful, it may cause you harm.” Anna explained.
“Why would such a lovely flower have thorns?” Lucas asked. He still couldn't figure it out.
Anna cast a soft glance at him. “The thorns are guarding the roses because they are afraid someone will harm them.” She explained.
When she told the little boy about the thorns, the name Ibrahim popped into her head right away. How can they be so similar? He constructs a shield around himself to protect himself, just as the thorns constructed a shield around the roses, and as a consequence, he harms those who want to be close to him.
“Did I hurt them when I plucked them?” Lucas inquired once more.
Anna gave a nod. “The next time you see a beautiful flower growing on the soil, don't pluck it, instead, let it grow happily.” She explained to him.
"I get it…" Lucas replied that he understood and nodded naturally.
Anna felt compelled to contact Lucas's parents. This is too much. His class ended at three o'clock, and it's almost five o'clock in the evening. What kind of parents would allow their child to wait this long?
“Daddy!” Lucas squealed and dashed towards a young man who was approaching them. Wearing a blue fitted suit. Oh. He’s quite attractive for a young father Anna thought. Lucas took hold of his father’s hand and turned to face Anna. “Daddy, she's my new drawing teacher, and she just bought me ice cream.” He informed his father, bouncing on his little feet excitedly.
The young man laughed a little, seeing how happy his son was.
“Really?” he asked his son. “Did you say thank you?” he inquired.
Lucas nods enthusiastically. “I did.”
The young man looked at Anna and engraved a genuine smile. “My name is Leo Simpson, and I'd like to thank you for looking after my son.” He replied and offered a handshake.
Anna accepted the handshake and returned it with a friendly smile. “I’m Anna Saunders. That’s perfectly fine. It is my responsibility to look after my students.” She responded.
“My son could be difficult sometimes and he didn’t like to get along with new people. I was surprised he seemed to like you.” Leo said, as he lifted his son in his arms.
Anna couldn’t be happier after listening to the little boy’s father's compliment. “Although he can be a naughty kid, he has a good heart.”
“That's great. We'd like to leave right now. Thank you very much. Mrs. Saunders.” Leo said as they needed to go home now.
Lucas waved to Anna with a smile. “Goodbye, lovely Anna.” He smiled broadly.
Anna chuckled. “It’s Mrs. Saunders.” She corrected him.
Just as Leo and his son were leaving, she noticed a familiar car entering from the front gate. It's Ibrahim. She took her bag and walked over to the passenger seat. She expected Ibrahim to ask her how her first day went or something related to her job, but she was wrong in that assumption. Ibrahim's face was expressionless, and he didn't say anything when she got into the car. It's strange. When he dropped her off in the morning, he was not like this.“Are you all right?” she inquired.Ibrahim didn’t feel like replying to her, so he just nodded his head. His face really shows that he is upset.Anna doesn’t get it. What’s happening to him? Is there any problem related to his job? She feels uncomfortable.“You go down first. I'll have to park the car in the garage.” Ibrahim spoke coldly and continued to ignore Anna's presence.Anna sighed and realized how bipolar this guy is. He was fine this morning, but now he looked frustrated. She didn't want to respond, so she got out of his car. S
After soaking herself in the tub for an hour, Anna decided to rinse her body and finish her bath. She purposely lit the lavender-scented candle to make herself feel a little relaxed. She got so tired of crying that she made a promise to herself that she would never cry for that jerk again. If this is what he wants, she will give him. Anna regrets marrying him. She should not have sacrificed her happiness for the sake of her father's business. However, she has already chosen this path. Now she has no choice but to be strong. To face the consequences of the decision she had made.A light beep from her cell phone startled her as she was busy drying her hair. Anna reached for her phone, only to find that it’s Lilly who texted her. Her brow furrowed as she read Lilly’s message.Anna, perhaps you fight with your husband.Lilly had no way of knowing. She never tells anyone, not even Jacob, anything related to her marriage. How could Lilly have known it out of nowhere? What do you mean, Lilly
“Mom.” As soon as Anna entered her parent’s house, she squealed and ran towards her mother's warm embrace. She arrived directly from the art school where she works.Rachel Rae laughed and stroked her daughter's hair lovingly. She's a married woman now, but she still behaves like a child in front of her mother. “How come so suddenly, you did not tell anything that you are coming to meet us.” she asked.“Are you not happy to see me, Mom?” She sighed. As she looked at her daughter, Rachel Rae smiled. She's still as naive as she used to be. “It’s not that I'm not happy to see you Anna, come inside I have prepared the dinner. Do you want to join us?” Rachel Rae asked. Anna nodded although the meals which her maid prepared are delicious but she always misses the ones cooked by her mother. Anna followed Rachel inside the house.Anna smiled broadly as she watched her mother serve the dishes she had prepared. The spicy fish curry and potted shrimps are today’s main courses. It came with a side
Sixteen years agoWhite fluffy clouds dotted the azure blue sky as the sun beamed beatifically, casting a golden glow upon the earth. Little Anna, who was supposed to go to the academy after school, lurked out and ran to the playground near her house. She despises studying and complicated mathematical formulas. She prefers drawing to mathematics. She dashed to the playground, leaving her backpack behind. She needs to run faster before her mother catches up with her.She enjoys running, but she was not aware that there was a brick separating the playground from the roadside. She was so enthralled that she didn't even look around. Little Anna tripped over that brick and fell by the roadside. The friction between her knees and the asphalt was quite rough, and she could feel the sharp pain. Her knee is bleeding, and it hurts so much that she burst into tears. She cried so hard that drew the attention of a boy standing near the playground.“You're bleeding.” He saw Anna’s wound, the boy lo
“Jessica, how many hours do I have, until the shareholders meeting?” Ibrahim asked.Ibrahim sighed softly as his secretary handed him another stack of paperwork. It's never-ending work, and this is the price he should pay for being the company's most powerful man. He has control over thousands of employees located all over the world. He worked until late at night and never complained about it. He devoted all of his time to work so that he would have no time to reflect on his life. However, this is the first time he has failed to do his job well. He couldn't concentrate because the image of Anna kept flashing through his mind.“It will be after lunch. I have already prepared the meeting room.” Jessica said quickly. She was aware of her boss's out-of-the-ordinary behavior, which she finds amusing. She has been working for him for two years and witnessed the demise of his wedding to his ex-fiancée but this is the first time seeing him so dull. “Do you want me to go get you some coffee?”
The just risen sun shone softly on the city streets, bringing with it a flurry of early morning activity. Ibrahim woke up with his eyes feeling heavy with sleep. The pain in his abdomen is much better than it was yesterday, and the pain in his head has also subsided. He couldn't remember how long he had slept for him to feel so energized. He typically sleeps less than five hours per day, and his body must be exhausted. However, the image of his wife caring for him flashed through his mind. He looked at Anna and saw that she was still sleeping beside him. She must be exhausted from looking after him all night. He couldn't help but smile as he remembered how genuine she was. He gently caressed her cheek, trying not to wake her up.“Thank you,” he said quietly. He then heard a loud alarm sound echo through the silent room, which turned out to be Anna’s phone. Indicating that it's seven o'clock in the morning. She needed to get up, as much as she wanted to sleep longer. Anna opened her ey
A light knock echoed in the room. Ibrahim raised his head and waited for the person who had knocked to come in. Jessica came inside. He looked at the time and saw that it was only half past ten in the morning. The flight to Italy is scheduled for the afternoon. They still have a lot of time. He could finish some of his work here before heading to the airport.“What's the matter, Jessica?” He inquired.Jessica made a light bow to him. “Your consulting detective has arrived.” Jessica responded.Ibrahim arched his brow. “Please bring him in.” “Yes Sir.” Before leaving his room, Jessica replied and bowed to him.As soon as Jessica went outside, he could hear footsteps approaching his office. The door was thrown open. The man walked into his office and sat on the couch before casting a quick glance at Ibrahim.Jonathan Cole cleared his throat and crossed his legs casually. “I have a message for you.” He sounded solemn.Ibrahim’s fingers came to a halt as he looked at Jonathan. “Do you hav
A beautiful woman sat on her bed inside a large room, listening to a new song that had just been released this month. Anna hummed along with the song as she folded the clothes. She'd just returned from work and decided it was time to fold the laundry. Ibrahim had told her that it was the maids' responsibility, but she always completed her tasks on her own.Anna felt something was missing, she hadn't seen Ibrahim for two days. After their stormy romantic night, he left for the office the next morning to finish his remaining work. He had already informed her that his flight was on the same day and that he would leave from his office immediately. Was she missing him? Yes, of course. She was curious if he missed her as much as she did him. She recalls how he held her that stormy night. She always felt secure next to him. Despite the fact that he hurts her, this man has something in him that makes Anna feel so safe around him. It was Friday, so she decided to pay a visit to her parents. S
In the next second, Anna could feel his lips brush over hers, giving her a warm yet passionate kiss. A kiss that they missed, both. Each time he has her in his arms, she feels frozen. Why does his touch feel so magical? She can feel his tongue asking for entrance as she parted her lips only to let the kiss go wilder. She circled her hand on his neck, and as soon as she wanted to kiss him even deeper, she felt something kicking from her belly again, making her push Ibrahim away.“Why?” Asked Ibrahim frustrated.“He kicked again, it seems like he doesn’t like it when you kiss me.” Anna replied, rubbing her palm on her stomach.Ibrahim grinned at her. “He kicks because he can feel pity for his father that his mother kept on asking his father to go.”Anna glared at Ibrahim. “Don’t make such excuses! Look at the time. It’s almost evening and you should go back now.”“No, I’m not leaving yet if you don’t let me kiss you properly.” Ibrahim shook his head in stubbornness. She immediately stan
Sitting on the dining table, Anna poured the chocolate syrup on Sofia’s pancakes. “I know you liked your pancake with honey but we only have chocolate sauce and agave syrup. You won't mind right?” asked Anna because she knew her husband could be a little picky eater sometimes.Ibrahim was a little touched by her action. She still remembers little things about him. “It’s fine actually I’m very hungry as I haven’t had my dinner last night so I can eat anything.”“The last time I remember you didn’t eat Alan’s restaurant noodles, complaining that it’s too spicy and oily for you. And why didn’t you have your dinner last night? I've told you not to skip it.”Ibrahim smiled. “You still think of me all the time, isn’t it? And no, because I wasn't able to find a good stay here, all the hotels were previously booked because it's a holiday.”“So, where are you staying then?”“Don’t worry the room is small but it’s okay I can manage it.”Anna didn’t ask any further but focused her attention back
The night had turned into day in just a blink of an eye, but Ibrahim couldn't seem to forget what happened between him and Anna. He couldn't give up just because she was giving him the cold shoulder. Even if she keeps on pushing him away, he will always try to come back to her. He couldn't able to endure losing her for the second time. So that’s why now he is here, in front of a two-story bungalow that's located not too far from the beach where he met her.Ibrahim rubbed his palms together to warm himself because the air was getting colder. “Why is it taking her so long to open the door?” He mumbled on his own. However, not long after that, the door was opened. His lips curled up, thinking maybe it was Anna who opened the door, but the smile faded when he saw it was a little girl instead.“Who are you?” The little girl asked, looking at Ibrahim with a confused gaze.Ibrahim was confused as well. He looked at his surroundings and his phone screen, checking if he really had the right ad
Ibrahim heaved a deep sigh. He took off his spectacles as he massaged the bridge of his nose gently. He couldn't help but force himself to concentrate on his work as he looked at the piles of documents he had to go through. He put on his spectacles and moved his gaze back to his notebook screen. At the same time, his phone rang.“Yes Jessica.” He picked up the phone with his left hand while clicking the mouse with his right.“Sir, the annual shareholder conference will be held this afternoon after lunch. I have the documents and presentation slides ready.”Ibrahim kept quiet for a while when he heard Jessica say the annual shareholder conference because it usually takes place somewhere near the end of the year. Oh, how time flies, and it should be his wedding anniversary soon, but he is still here, alone.“Sir, are you there?” Jessica's voice was heard again.“Ah, yes. Notify me when we're about to start.” Ibrahim replied.“Noted.”After sleepless nights, skipping meals, and consuming
Anna POVHow does it feel to live in circumstances where you have to battle with your own feelings? To me, it feels like torture. People said feelings are more dangerous than ideas, because they aren't susceptible to rational evaluation. They grow quietly underground before exploding all over the place. You tend to act in the opposite way from the rational side if you act based on your heart, and vice versa, because your heart doesn't have thoughts.I loved that man. Oh no, I still love him. If the feelings could not be forgotten after sixteen years. I doubt if several months can. Day by day, I missed him a little more than yesterday. I missed his voice. I missed his smile. I missed his smell. I missed his hug, and I missed how he made me feel wanted. I missed how he praises every bit of my body while making love with me. If I love him that much, why would I leave him? I left him not because I no longer love him, but because I love him so much that it started to hurt me.I realized th
The cool breeze blew through her hair softly. The leaves have turned yellow and are slowly falling, filling up the street. Summer slowly collapsed into fall. There is a saying that goes, Autumn leaves don't fall; they fly. They take their time, wander around, and this is their only chance to soar.Anna tightened her coat as soon as she got off the taxi, walking into one of the most famous barbeque restaurants in London Road. Her lips curled up upon looking at the faces that she recognized wholeheartedly. She could see one of them waving their hand at her, and she didn't think twice but to approach them and hug them tightly.“Sorry for the delay. There was a lot of traffic.” Said Anna as she took a seat.Lily laughed softly. “It's okay, Anna. We are used to it.” She joked.“Let's order something first. I'm very hungry.” Jacob interrupted them before they could even start their bickering.Just like in the old days, the three had a nice barbeque meal with cheers and laughter. Anna couldn
“Dad!”Anna shrieked with delight as she noticed her father seated on the couch in their living room, smiling broadly at her. She didn't hesitate, but immediately plunged herself into her father's embrace.“Dad, are you alright? You didn't get hurt anywhere, right? How are you?” Anna bombarded the questions at her father, her eyes welling up with tears.Paul laughed amusedly. “You stupid girl. I’m fine.”“Dad, when did you get home? And why did no one even tell me that you came home.” Anna pouted, still hugging her father. Rachel and Paul looked at each other letting out an awkward laugh which didn’t fit into the environment. She looked confusedly at her parents’ reaction.“It's not such a big deal, Anna. The thing is that I will be fine.” Said her father trying to convince Anna.Anna sighed. “Why didn't you tell me? I have been so worried about you.”It's not that he refuses to tell her daughter. She just got discharged from the hospital and he does not want to add more pressure to h
“Okay. I will do everything you want, but could you please consider your thoughts again?” Asked Ibrahim as he looked at Anna with an expectant gaze.Could she really tell him to stop giving her that look? It feels like she is going to break down soon. He had become her weakness as much as she became his.“I have told you. We are done, and there is nothing more that we can do. I can’t even if I want to.” She replied the last sentence like a mere whisper without looking at him, trying to sound firm, but deep inside her heart, she's crying hysterically.Ibrahim tried to inhale as much air as he could to calm himself down because the atmosphere started to become suffocating for both of them. There was a brief moment of silence before he dared to look into her eyes, again.“Anna, do you remember when I first met you in the French restaurant?” Asked Ibrahim.Of course, she does, and things in her head start to fly back to the first time they met, when Luke had to gather all of his forces to
Alan patted Ibrahim's shoulder lightly, as if he were giving him strength. He even gave him a light smile. “Everything will be alright, Ibrahim.” He spoke.Ibrahim sighed instead. It has been two days since Anna was admitted in the hospital, and he couldn't see her since she was awake because he was told that she didn't want to see him. It feels extremely excruciating for him.“Do you think she wanted to see me now?” Ibrahim asked with his head held low.“Where did the strong headed Ibrahim Saunders go?” said Alan trying to calm him down. He understands from which phase his best friend is going through and he knows how to make Ibrahim face this situation, a little push is what he needed right now. Ibrahim looked up at Alan in confusion. “What do you mean? It's not the time to joke around.”“I have known you for how many years… twenty years Ibrahim. You’re a strong and capable man that everyone in his office is afraid of, but the one in front of me now is a coward.” Alan said, trying
