Chapter 78

Ember breathed a sigh of relief, knowing Caleb was out of danger and that the rescued children were in the care of Caleb's assistant.

Nick hurriedly arrived after hearing the news. He asked anxiously, "Ember, how's Caleb doing?"

With a dry throat and a shake of her head, Ember replied, "He's not in a critical condition, but he suffered a heart attack during emergency treatment. He's going to need some time to recover."

"Also, I need a favor," she added quietly, looking down.

It was her first time seeking assistance from someone in Caleb's circle, but given the urgency, she had no other option but to ask for Nick's help.

"Tell me what you need," Nick said, willing to assist without making things difficult for her.

"Could you look after the children we saved for a while? I need to manage Caleb's situation first, then I'll take them back," Ember requested.

Ember had previously met the children, and their pitying stares broke her heart.

"I've got this. Focus on Caleb," assured Nick
