Chapter 184

Ember stood to the side as she quietly listened to the two's conversation without saying a word. It was as if she were an outsider.

"Ms. Ferguson, there's quite a crowd at the banquet. I hope you can understand human language," Caleb spoke quickly, his tone suggesting a threat.

If Penelope were to continue bothering Ember, he could always retaliate by doing something drastic.

"Got it..." Penelope could only respond in disappointment.

Caleb, on the other hand, would not stop there. Remembering that she had reached out to try to slap Ember before, he frowned and continued, "I do not allow bystanders to bully my wife. If you think the Fergusons are still holding up these days, you can go ahead and irritate me."

He looked so frightening that Penelope was left dumbfounded for a long moment.

She quickly changed her expression back to that of a victim as tears started pooling in the corners of her eyes. "Ms. Sanders and I were just fooling around. You've misunderstood me, Caleb."
